I wish this had more views, it's October 1st for me rn and I was looking at skull masks to make for Halloween to make my skeleton costume look better when I decided on making a pumpkin mask instead, I watched a couple videos and saw some pictures but this was the coolest looking one I could find. It's also within my crafting capabilities.

i love seeing how other people make armitures. there’s always another way. i like this way. like a piñata you don’t have to destroy. thanks for this. if people want a smoother finish, i recommend a thin layer of dry wall, then smooth it out with a damp cloth after it dries, then gesso.

Yeah I've tried it before, basically you need a balloon a bit bigger than the size you want your project, then take some string and tie around the balloon to make the indents in the pumpkin. I would use about 3-4 strings and tie them tight to change the shape of the balloon. You then paper Mache over and let it dry and after the paper Mache is dry you pop the balloon and let the inside dry out. I hope this helped, let me know if you have any more questions, ill try and answer!
