George Lucas' commentary on how the stormtroopers have a genetic trait from Jango Fett confirms what the movies imply that stormtroopers are clone troopers.
Nah man, clones got phased out almost entirely by the start of episode IV, there’s a really small but possible chance, that it was an old clone in that armor. Which is my headcanon
If you look closely when Jango lands on the platform, he lands on the side that gets the dent, and as he slides over his body turns to the side where he loses his rangefinder
Great video, one explanation for anyone itching about this continuity error could be that the dent pops in and out like a water bottle. And Jango can’t keep it straight haha.
this was something that always bothered me. I agree the dent happened somewhere before his jet pack flew off. I also think this was a bad way of linking it to boba's dent. I remember having andaction figure with jango fett mold in mid 2000s and it was the 3.75 figure with the magnetic removable head and that dent was more inline with Bobas dent. So as a kid i compared it to boba fett figures and figured that was the intention. Maybe the artist and designers thought it was close enough to where Bobas dent was. idk
The rangefinder flips back because Jango has to have his head in a certain position to be able to shoot the missile, but still has to be able to see where it is going. There is no source that disproves that his rangefinder can flip backwards

Very conclusive. But a couple mistakes. 1. Jango was using the targeting computer in his rangefinder to target Kenobi with his missile. (Sounds horribly wrong, but couldn't think of anyway else to phrase it) The rangefinder can indeed go back like that. 2. Jango's dent is farther back than Boba's dent, and we see how Boba gets his while having a stand off with Bane in an unfinished clone wars episode. Earlier episodes the dent was gone, so I'm assuming that Boba fixed it when he claimed the armor.
Very solid analysis. I guess we can rule out Obi-Wan causing that dent. Jedi or not, the hard part of his head is still made of bones. So most likely, rather than causing a dent, Obi-Wan's head would have cracked hitting that hard against metal. You also cannot quite compare this to muttons butting heads, as a) their heads are reinforced at this spot, and b) it is bone against bone. What you said seems much more plausible to me - being an editing error in the end. But it made it even to the Hot Toys figure, having an exchangable helmet top.
4:00 are you even watching the scene? it’s moving out the way of the rocket. The jango costume cant shoot flames or fly does that mean the cg model shouldn’t be able to do it?
Another thing I don't think a lot of people noticed is that his helmet bends in slightly after being run over by the red rhino thing. It shows up when Jango fires at Mace Windu before getting killed

I think that the point where he got the dent was when Obi-Wan was down and he kicked Jango in the head and he fell to the ground before getting right back up to continue fighting. When you analyze where the dent is and isn’t, as good as I think they did with little details in these movies I think it got a little sloppy with the dent appearing and disappearing making it hard to tell exactly where he got it, and also having the antenna go backward when he’s on the tower, hopefully it can do that and he made it go that way for a good reason.
I think it wasn’t any of those this is how I think he got the dent on his helmet during production of the movie he accidentally banged the helmet on something else and when George Lucas saw he was like “you know what i like that we will keep that” and that’s how I think he got the dent
How would bumping his helmet cause beskar to dent. It would take an immense amount of force to cause that. It's one of those mysteries that will never be answered.
Yes its the same dent because its the exact same suit of armor, its not an idea its just a fact and also you keep pointing out the back of the helmet where the dent decidedly is not
Well unless Disney changes the Canon Boba's helmet can't be the untouched original of Jango's helmet. In the Clone Wars Boba intentionally uses his father's helmet as bait to kill Mace with a bomb that caused the helmet to split into 2 with at least 1 half surviving then being lost on the planet as he isn't seen retrieving it. It's possible that he returned later to retrieve it then melt the half down to remake the helmet but that's just me theorizing. Or he could have just gotten another Mandalorian helmet. Afterall Boba seems to have lost the shin guards too. Maybe the shin guards were melted to fix the retrieved helmet.
I don't think he had the dent at all in the fight scene with Obi Wan. It's all reflection. I have worked on multiple movies and while not this one I can tell you you are just seeing what you want to see.
