LUL, "Why am I spending so much time on my first ship?" I had to laugh. Because it's freaking Insane mode and you *have* to play it like you're going to go ka-boom first system you find outside happy mining land! 😂 Even still, you could get more captains and all with these little boys and just make a lot of miners that you send out together. Happy little ships. All saved.
You can rap/paste and save designs/modules that you can change the root block on giving you more control of installation. Also you can perform mirrors and scale up/down just about anything. This can cut down on some of the tedium of builds. So, I just wanted to let you know man how much I'm enjoying the series and the idea of you're play through. I also love the longer episodes and you're ship designs and building. I hope you continue with this Let's Play. God bless. 💯
@ 19:38 , hitting "x", "y", and "z" rotates the corner blocks a bit quicker. I don't keep track of what axis I'm working on when I use the shortcut keys, so it's really not all that quicker for me since I'm always choosing the wrong axis ^_^ Thank you a lot for showing your process, too. It get's really frustrating for me to spend hours designing a ship and not be satisfied with the results. It helps to watch you build from your perspective.
So something that works really good for texture is solar panels. They go by surface area not mass so the more facing you have on them the more power you get so oddly enough little strips of them make for a surprising amount of power. Another thing I like to do with them and power plants is to make antenna masts with them as it will give you look AND power. Tips, a single large item (save thrusters and solar panels) will give you better results than a few smaller ones. Thrusters and solar panels go off of surface area not volume. -- There is a mirror option it's the one with the box the dotted line and the dotted line box. -- if you select your whole ship after you are done and press the button next to it that kinda looks like a robots face (2 small boxes a down arrow and a rectangle) you will combine as much stuff as possible. -- If you want to do a power and thruster block that won't merge you can do it layered solar panels and thruster blocks like .1 unit thick each. -- Ctrl C - Ctrl Z (Copy and Paste) works in this game.
