What r u talking about!!! She's been playing the piano since she was 4! She can play by ear and without notes even though she can read notes! She's been trained on a professional level. She can play more than one instrument, She can play the piano, the violin, the guitar and the darabuka. There r so many videos of her on UA-cam playing the piano.

To clarify for my friend, he does consider Faouzia amazing for being able to play and sing at the same time. It's just that he can tell this is not a pianist who practises the whole day every day and does it solely for a living. People notice these intricacies when it is their profession, and it is by no means to bring her down. I guess it's fair to say for most singers who play the piano too.

She actually does improvise A LOT if you compare her live stages with her rehearsal ones they're always different from each other, even at her her concert and shows she always improvises, takes risks and brings something new.

I did read your comment, Rosannasfriend, and discussed it with my friend. As far as I know, a lot of pianists play 8 hours a day every day to be a professional pianist. In my conservatoire, some pianists would leave the practice rooms only when the building shuts down at late midnight. I think what my friend means is that he can tell from Faouzia's playing that it, albeit great, does not live up to such a high standard, which to be fair singers can hardly achieve as it is not their main instrument.

I think it was a fair observation. Maybe not really relevant to the performance...but a musician certainly may notice the difference between someone who plays the piano an hour a day, and plays very well, vs. someone who plays 8 hours a day and is a master of the instrument.

You should do more researchers about Africa, this continent is a very rich and interesting one that’s why the colonizer always wanted to invade it, and take it for himself. And Morocco has a very strategic location between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea which is very important for economy. Thanks for the reaction and Faouzia is a real star and we Moroccans we are proud of her.

In some way, I agree. However, the competition is not just evaluation of vocals skills like an academy, but also how you can make the audience relate. Maybe the audience related better to the champion on that day.

About the confusion you mentioned, I think people just hear "I never loved you" and don't really pay attention to the rest of the lyrics.. She mentions multiple times that she's sad, like "it kills me to see you like this" and "it haunts me everyday" so I think the sadness that you hear in the singing was intentional.. She's being brutally honest but still feels sad that the other person is hurt. The "lo le lo le" part always sounded to me like a cry of pain and grieve before she says RIP, love.

However, she plays a range of instruments with beautiful performances on stage in front of a large audience.

Speaking of Africa, it is a diverse continent, but it is oppressed, and all people have an idea like yours. Africa is a continent, not a country, and we are not all of the same race. There are Arabs, Amazighs, Egyptians, and Senegalese. The Pharaohs are from the African continent, and the most famous traveler in the world, Ibn Batota, is a Moroccan from Africa. The first university in the world is in Morocco. The most famous map in the world was drawn by an African Moroccan. There is much that was not mentioned in the side, except that Spain and Portugal ruled Morocco before the Crusaders entered it and expelled Muslims from it towards Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria. Egypt, which has a Pharaonic civilization that is considered one of the oldest civilizations, is originally from Africa.

Say no more. My history teacher will be ashamed of having me as her student.
To speak of another blind spot of mine, it is funny that I somehow never related Egypt to Africa albeit having played Age of Empires and watched Cleopatra. It seems a country on no continent to me.

Faouzia´s songs and lyrics are always unique, I feel it's like storytelling, one song connects to the other in another way. Faouzia is an intelligent singer who improvises a lot, which makes her singing style different and unique, setting her apart from many singers. As for playing piano, she plays very well like a professional, you need to check her stripped versions where she plays piano and you will see there. One advice I would like to give you both is to learn more about Faouzia, especially her singing and instrumental playing skills from many of her other songs, especially the stripped versions, so you have better knowledge of her personality, singing style, and instrumental playing skills. Overall, nice work on Faouzia´s song reaction except for the lack of knowledge in some parts of Faouzia´s skills.

    some informations:
lo li lo li.. is a Spanish rendering of the Arabic words: Layli Layli Ya Layli. These are the words that open the song Desert Rose.
Its literal meaning: Ah my Layli, ah my Layli.
Its poetic significance: The memories and moments that come to the mind of the lover at night so he cannot sleep from the pain of those memories and he sighs: OOh my Night! OOh my Night!

she sounded sarcastic because she was mocking someone that said that to her on the first part of the verse. she actually wrote this song about another person's perspective. and also the second part sounded sad because she was sad this was what the other person was like. and how that person said that to her. it is sort of genius she is able to convey so much in simple expression and change of tones. She is definitely very talented and smart. Thanks for the honest and sensible reaction guys.

  • @raspberryswirl375

It's hard to tell how good Faouzia's piano skills are, probably because playing the piano and singing (especially on this level) is incredibly difficult. If you are interested in seeing someone who does a LOT of improvisation and plays complex piano parts while singing, I highly recommend Tori Amos. She was accepted to the Peabody institute at age 5, and trained in classical piano there until she was kicked out at 11 for "musical insubordination". She wanted to compose her own work, and they weren't having it. Her songs have also 'evolved' over time, often becoming more complex, or being completely re-imagined.
Just keep in mind that she does a lot of experimental things, and can be a bit...controversial 😅.
    Maybe start with this one:

The Moors ruled almost the entire Iberian Peninsula from 700 CE until their final stronghold, the Kingdom of Córdoba, fell in 1492 CE. So, they were either the dominant power or a powerful military, economic, and cultural influence in Iberia for almost 800 years. At the height of their power, their rule extended into southern France, and they were only turned back from the complete conquest of Europe after the French defeated them at the Battle of Tours in 732 CE.
