  • Exercise Hedgehog is one of the largest military exercises to have ever taken place in the Baltics.
Exercise Hedgehog sees 15,000 troops from 14 countries come together on the Estonia-Latvia border.
The UK recently doubled its military presence in the eastern European country in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

@@romeisfallingagain How is that cope? The experienced Russian soliders that were sent into combat in Ukraine have been exaused. Supposedly the elite Russian Paratrooper divisions dropped with vurtually no supplies and outdated guns.
Russia is a dying great power and Putin wants this war to be a mirage of him and his country trying to stay relevant, and self reliant, and failing at both.
NATO on the other hand is a multinational organisation which co-operates with each state and ensures countries all use standard equiptment and supplies so if a war were to break out, there would be no need to try and supply troops on the frontline from somewhere like France or the UK when Poland, Baltics have stockpiles of the same ammo or supplies NATO troops need.

Whats bad about those exercises is that they are waaay too small.
We should do a buildup of 100 - 200.000 troops near the Russian borders.
Force them to redistribute their troops.
That would help Ukraine without firing a single shot... and our soldiers would get some good practice also.

All sound good, but I do not trust this mission. Think, open your eyes and ears. We must learn to talk to each other, learn to lesson, respect, love and understanding. Building army is not building something good for future. It means that you are preparing for killing. Why not take those men and create strong farmers instead of soldiers? Use all those money for weapons materials to buy from your neigbours what you cannot produce? Use the change to make pots for women to cook for their husbands and children?

A few points to make for the both of you. While it isn't great to wish for war Josh is correct in saying that almost all regiments I've interacted with in the past look forward to their deployments. It's what they live for after all as soldiers.
However this ofc isn't the first time operations like this take place so for many it isn't constantly sweeping the barracks, if you're in the military they will find a way to put you to use.
Sonblok, the point Josh was making was probably more belligerent then it needed to be but he still has reasoning.
I don't fully think either of you are letting the other person properly explain their opinions and I might be wrong. And yes, I do agree with your point if a little bit convoluted, that it's pointless for us.
