I'm really surprised the construction doesn't require neither resin nor fat, considering you need the wood insulation so that it doesn't rot with constant contact with water, and so that the planks actually stay together, but I'm glad the system is simple *enough* to replicate, these boats are a great QoL feature and a massive improvement over a simple raft
Yeah it’s pretty odd that the “Sailboat Construction” entry just omits that you need both support beams and cloth when it mentions everything else. Glad I could help though!
You should play around with the world gen settings a bit, you'd be surprised at what you can get! I think they just don't really generate as the default setting presently as the oceans are still rather sparse in features, once they get a little more development love and they do some more work on the sailing mechanics I'm sure they'll be featured much more prominently in the default world generation.
Not really, you can use a saw on the boat to deconstruct it and get *some* of the materials back that you used to make it, but you’ll need to have a lot of extra wood if you want to move it between bodies of water frequently. Best options presently would be digging channels between bodies of water that are relatively close to each other or just having multiple boats, they take a bit of work to make good use of them as of yet and also depend a good bit on your map generation, more useful the more water there is and all that.
Nice video. This is all the info I was looking for, thanks. Some constructive advice, maybe boost your microphone audio in post because I had to raise my volume to 90 to hear you when I average at 30 for most other videos.
Appreciate the feedback, I did notice that my first ones were a bit quiet and have boosted my audio pretty noticeably in my most recent video, but having some actual volume number comparisons from someone else will help a lot while I continue to try to find the right balance, thanks!
Yeah that's correct, I didn't bother with it since it doesn't currently have any use, but you can put the anchor at the front of the boat and it does look nice. I imagine it will have a function in the future when they add more mechanical depth to how you control the ship, using the wind and sails and all that instead of it just being a faster raft.
Hadn’t covered them at the time as neither actually do anything functional for the boat and I wasn’t thinking about them, but you can make an anchor and place it at the front left of the ship if you like, it’s purely decorative at the moment though will likely have a use when they further develop actual sailing mechanics. As for the figureheads, there’s a mounting point for them at the front of the ship, you will in the future be able to chisel any kind of figurehead you like and place it there, but at this time that feature isn’t complete and the mounting point is not useable.
You’re right, shouldn’t have added anything in terms of water at all for another couple years. They should just wait to release anything until it’s fully completed.. and with your logic they shouldn’t let anyone play the game until it’s fully released as finished. Forget everyone enjoying the game now, especially everyone with solo worlds and world generation options set to larger oceans to accommodate boats. Just keep complaining over there while we enjoy the game.
You can change the world-generation settings to have oceans, it's not on by default because the developers probably think their "ocean biome" - for lack of a better way of calling it - isn't well developed enough yet.
Please God in all your infinite wisdom, guide the fingers of the devs so they add a sailing system at least as good as Valheim, amen
The glider mechanics need some HEAVY reworking as well. Feels like it has holes in it
Amen
🙏
yes

If we'd like to have it realistic, resin would have to be farmable. Otherwise, it would be unbearable to make 64+ glue for a boat
This was massive help.... i was looking in crafting guide for like 20mins before this vid :0
Glad it could help! Seeing something put into practice helps me a lot too, figured there'd be at least a few of you out there like me haha
Thanks! Your voiceover is great.
Hey thanks, glad you think so!
Excellent video, nice and concise 👍
I wish the in-game guide had all the requirements listed. I had no idea support beams existed and had to watch this video in order to make the boat.

Thanks for the guide!
Nice video bro
Now we just need oceans!

Sooo, is there any way to break it or move in other sea?

@@LusciousLad Glad to help. I'll be using your videos for the new update, so of course I'll be tuning in to see the improvement!
Вроде у лодки был ещё якорь в виде камня... (не рабочий, но декорация)

6:04 was that your animal? oml scared the shit outta me (watched farther in the vid and the MF screeched at me)
Yeah that's probably one of the biggest downsides of the elk, they just scream all the time lol
@@LusciousLad they do that irl some live near me and you get used to it
what about building a boat only to find out its not an ocean but a lake. terrain gen needs some better way to make oceans without losing landmass
Whats the point of adding boats when the biggest water features are 100 blocks across.

It's entirely possible to have big oceans and waterbodies to generate. Takes some tweaking, but it's completely possible.
