Stricken USS Fitzgerald in dry dock at Yokosuka Naval Base

Aerial video footage taken on July 11 at Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, shows the damaged U.S. Navy destroyer USS Fitzgerald laid up in dry dock at the Yokosuka Naval Base. The vessel was badly damaged on June 17, sustaining a blow around the center of its starboard side, when it was struck by a vast container ship of Filipino registry off Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture. Preliminary repairs and a detailed evaluation of the extent of damage is currently being conducted at the base. Major long-term repairs will be apparently carried out in the United States
