I don’t know why but the sound of traditional Chinese orchestras are so much more heartening to me than western orchestras. Of course western instruments and orchestras have honed their craft and sit on hundreds of years of history as well but there is just something about the Chinese music.
Agree but something like Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune (Debussy) or The Firebird Finale (Stravinsky) are so heartening that for me is hard to do comparison, and I put here just two famous examples... I'd rather say that western music and eastern music are two different but beautiful (each in their ways) worlds.
@@drigoli86 yes that’s probably a better way of putting it. They are both capable of evoking deep emotion but they reach that point in an entirely different way. They take a different path.

Truly and utterly remarkable music.
I've been learning Chinese for around three years and I find the history, culture, and language so fascinating. I've only been to China once but it was one of the best experiences of my life. I've considered living there and I might want to go into something related to it for college. Even the music is beautiful 😊
just beautiful。proud of being Chinese every time I listen to classic Chinese music. Try Guqin sometime. One of the most epic instrument in Chinese history.
I have Chinese friends here in Canada who smile when they see me cry whenever I hear traditional Chinese Instrumental Music. It's due to the Pentatonic Scale. And there are some who say the The Chinese are not Romantic??? Sheer Nonsense.
Agree. The Chinese are very romantic. What makes the Chinese romantic is they don’t explicitly say it out but use the metaphor and actions. I don’t know how to explain it.
The sound of China. Enchanting and unique . A lilting musical journey through the land of the ancestors. Who but these people could strain an expression of sound from a piece of bamboo , and a single stringed instrument .
Things like this remind me of what a wonderful place the world is, and it makes me so happy to be able to research so many cultures that are so different from my own

Magnificent!!! So much talent in one place!! I’d love to hear them do a rendition of James Cameron’s titanic theme! They’d probably nail it even better than Celine & the film’s orchestra!!
The solo of the flute-like instrement was so beautiful it almost put me to tears (im sorry if its not a flute technically, i dont mean to offend anyone please tell me if its not)
@@criptedlive2578 Correct, it is called a dizi, but I just want to be slightly more linguistically nuanced, the word "di" is simply the chinese word for flute. "zi" is a diminutive meaning "little," and its usage is specific to only Standard Mandarin. In other Chinese dialects, such as Standard Cantonese, it is left out. The dizi is called daeg in Cantonese, and daegji (with the Cantonese counterpart of the "zi" diminutive, "ji," being present) is only used in formal written documentation. "Di" refers all flute-class woodwinds. The western orchestral flute, for example, is called Changdi: "Longflute(s)." The recorder class instruments are called Zhidi: "Verticle flute(s)"
Interesting divide between the genders: males play wind and percussion, females the string instruments. Interesting to that over the years West and instruments have got more more powerful, sonorous, more and more resonance has been added - but these folk instruments have not gone down that route
Chinese flute is called "Dizi(笛子)" or “Zhudi(竹笛)". There are kinds of it. The major different between Chinese flute and Western flute is that there is "membrane" in the flute, and the membrane makes special tone. more info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_flutes
The Chinese bamboo flute has an extra hole between the mouth-hole and first finger, which is covered with a thin bamboo membrane. It vibrates with stronger breath, and gives that edgy sound to the flute. It's a bit like the principle behind a kazoo, only much more lovely and sophisticated. They glue the membrane on with some special resin, but I've found that glue stick works pretty well in a pinch. You can always wet the edges of the membrane to stretch or loosen it later...you want just the right tightness/looseness so it doesn't vibrate too much or not enough. Takes a bit of fidgeting to get it right.

Me, too. It has really captured my imagination. I love it, although I do not find a lot of western classical music suites my taste.
