- (Almost) every time T'challa's theme appears in the Black Panther soundtrack. I've been obsessed with this score and wanted to make my own suite of my favorite theme in the film.
Edit, in 2020: I made this video when Black Panther came out in 2018, and its impact was great even then. I appreciate every comment left about Chadwick Boseman and his legacy in 2020; his talent and strength will never go unnoticed. Rest in power.

I love how Ludwig Goransson's theme almost says the names 'T'challa' and 'Killmonger', with each note and beat corresponding to each syllable of a characters name, this is a tradition that goes back to Leon Klatzkin's Superman theme from the 50s show, which is three notes and says Superman's name out loud, this is something that both John Williams and Shirley Walker did with their Superman themes as well.
The drums which are striking in groups of three are "talking drums" literally saying T'challa.
Superman is in his own league. Can't compare the two not even in music 🎵🎶
In my culture death is not the end, it's more of a stepping off point.
It doesn't come from him but it comes from the scripts so why use it?

Listened to this a few days ago just loving the epic and thoughtfulness of this movie...now I'm back grieving his loss. This theme feels now like grieving in the beginning and celebrating his life when the trumpets come out. Rest in peace and power Chadwick. You were strong and extraordinary. ♥️
its so amazing how in the intro of the theme you can hear this person singing a ceremonial outcall about an elephant that had just died, elephant being a synonym for the king, and its time for someone to take over but it shouldn't be too fast. R.I.P king

You don't understand. This is Marvel's greatest work by far. It's a shame the VFX and the final outcome of Wakanda's battle was so plain. But nonetheless, everything else is beautiful. Simply beautiful. Ludwig has done an incredible job at connecting the movie with the non-fictional elements of culture and race. Thank you Marvel, Chadwick, Ludwig, and everyone else behind this masterpiece. It will be a honour to watch the sequel in a year.
I am Asian, and I cried listening to this song. To think that this level of majesty, how much things could have been better for my African friends if slavery didn’t exist. If Africa was left to grow and thrive, unexploited. How great and beautiful!

if africa was left alone, they'd still be walking in the savannah with sticks and living in mud huts. and your dear asian friends took part in the slave trade too...the only difference is that being extremely xenophobic and racist they would only take the slaves on the ships after they'd all been castrated, so they couldn't have sex with asian women and pollute their genes.

T'Challa's theme song is more traditional than Kill monger's. Maybe because he was raised and grew up in Wakanda, unlike Erik, who spent his childhood in Oakland.

I have the same regret for Chadwick as for RBG--they cannot have liked Trump's constant encouragement of racial injustice. I regret they did not live to see Trump replaced by someone who appreciates peoples' differences instead of fearing them.

My only criticism of this score and pretty much most movie scores to come out after the rise of Hans Zimmer is how wet the mixing quality of the music is, it doesn't sound very organic or dry like movie scores used to before the turn of the millenium. If one were to listen to something like Alfred Newman's 'How the West was Won' you begin to notice that the sound quality sounds much less wet and sounds more drier yielding a more pleasant listening experience.
much pleasant to you. Without reverb or delay it makes most instruments sound bland and boring. Im not saying go crazy with the wet on every sound but it brings the instruments to life, on top of that you get this larger sounding scale you wouldnt from a more dry mix. Of course it just depends on your own ear but on top of this I will add, UA-cam compression ruins everything including this piece right here. if you can, find a high quality audio file version and I believe you wil change your mind about it being a more pleasant listening experience. much love..
