Loving this interview, they are so real. I remember the family times in the kitchen and then someone would get crazy and the fun was over. My families go to restaurant back in the day was Sizzler on Long Island, NY. Love those guys.
It’s really good Danny how you have stayed so close to Joey ; trading family recipes and everything too , and Joey Mc seems so funny and enjoys his family time as well. 😊😋
Love this ❤️👍🏻 growing up I always thought Danny was super funny and still is. And him and Donnie were always funny together. With Joey, it was a whole another level 😂😂😂. But yeah all the guys are funny in their own way.
I really love love love hearing you and the guys talk about your childhoods and early years traveling together! Loved hearing Donnie and Joe! Definitely do more of these! Love to watch you cook..👏
I love the interview episodes. It’s amazing what you learn about from other people. It’s nice hearing about their background and upbringing. Love learning new things about my pride and joy.😍😘 And hearing about their younger years.😃 I always enjoy seeing Danny and Joe.
Great episode! I loved hearing stories about growing up in such big families! Love Irish Soda bread cant wait to try this recipe! Love you Danny and Joe! Thank you Andi, Allana and Chance for bringing us another amazing episode!!!
P.S. I adore 🥰 the verbal play by play, particularly the use of the word "incorporated". This is a beautiful thing to witness, you baking for Joey, one of his mom's recipes. This is pure 💕 love, thank you for crafting this collaboration and providing us with a view in your world. God bless you and yours. 🥰.
OMG, 2 of my favorite guys in one place!! I’ve been loving JoeMac since 1989(he was my first musical crush ,in a boy band)… thanks Danny & Andi making my day a little brighter 🤗😉😍
This was such a great idea! Hope to see the other guys sharing their family memories and recipe. Joey: miss seeing you in the neighborhood! Now you have to share your wife's sweet potato pie! Great show, Danny!

Such a fun episode! Love watching you guys converse & joke around. And Danny with his sifter...🤣 I was dying. Bread turned out looking way tastier than I thought... Can't wait to try it out!😍❤️
Just found your channel, what a blessing! You had a great mom and dad they raised a great son, a wonderful human! Bless you, you have brought such happiness to many people throughout the world.
My mom used shortening also, I would look in the cabinets as a child and ask her what is that white stuff in the can. She said, "don't worry about I cook with it."
Hello from Germany. Ur both are awesome. Back then i was such a big fan on NKTOB and i am so happy nowadays that trough media i am still able to follow what u all are doing. And Danny i am impressed by your fit body, even thought u were always into sport. :)
🤣🤣 love that you are so close in real life 😍😍 you guys are phenomenal love you guys xx love Joey slagging his mum's cooking with so much love in his voice 💚💚 my mum was the same. You guys looking 🥵🥵🥵 now in 2022. I love that Joey Mac has Irish roots, I'm Irish born and raised 💚💚💚💚🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
I love seeing videos of the chats you guys do. It so fun to watch. My family and I make Irish Soda Bread but we don’t put shortening (we us regular butter) in it and once everything is mixed, we put the mixture on a floured surface and knead it. Once it feels slightly sticky, we put it in a bowl and let it rise for an hour. Then we take it out of the bowl and put it on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper that is sprayed with butter (or bakers flour spray). We then cut two lines that look like a plus sign and then in the oven it goes. Irish Soda Bread is my favorite bread to eat!
So glad you didn't leave it in for the entire hour...that definitely would have made it dry or worse - burnt 😵🤣🥰 thoroughly enjoyed the conversation and the bread looked delicious 😋 ❤
This was my favorite episode by far that you guys have done. I’ve been a fan of New Kids since I was 6 years old, way back in 1987!🫣 keep up the great recipes and I also have an Italian recipe that I would like to share, that has been passed down for generations in my family. Please let me know where to send the recipe, and I will send asap. Thank you guys for bringing a smile to my face and for taking me back to wonderful memories of family and childhood!
@@jedsteelwell2354 Recipe below! Ingredients 3 1/2 cups (495g) all-purpose flour* 2 1/2 tsp baking powder** 3/4 tsp salt 1 cup (8 oz) unsalted butter, softened 1 3/4 cups (370g) granulated sugar 1 tsp lemon zest 15 oz ricotta, whole milk or fresh (1 3/4 cups) 1 Tbsp vanilla extract 2 large eggs Glaze 1 Tbsp butter (salted or unsalted), melted 3 3/4 cups (460g) powdered sugar 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice*** 1 tsp vanilla extract 4 - 6 Tbsp milk Instructions For the cookies: In a mixing bowl whisk together flour, baking powder and salt for 20 seconds, set aside. In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment whip together butter, granulated sugar and lemon zest until pale and fluffy (scrape down sides and bottom of bowl occasionally throughout entire mixing process). Mix in ricotta and vanilla extract then blend in eggs one at a time. Set mixer on low speed and slowly add in flour mixture and mix just until combined. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and chill 2 hours or up to 2 days. Preheat oven to 350 degrees during last 20 minutes of dough chilling. Scoop chilled dough out 1 Tbsp at a time and shape into balls (if it's too sticky just drop onto sheet using two spoons), drop onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat (I don't recommend using dark non-stick pans for this recipe since the bottoms will already become pretty golden. Dark pans brown more than uncoated pans do). Bake in preheated oven 12 - 14 minutes until underside of cookies are golden. Cool on baking sheet several minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cool dip tops of cookies in glaze and return to wire rack, immediately add sprinkles if using. Allow glaze to set at room temperature. Store in an airtight container in a single layer. For the glaze: In a mixing bowl whisk together powdered sugar, melted butter, lemon juice or almond extract, vanilla and 4 Tbsp milk until smooth, adding in more milk 1 tsp at a time to thin as needed (you don't want it to be very thin, it should be quite a bit thicker than a doughnut glaze). Notes *Scoop flour directly from container using measuring cup and level top using a butter knife. Don't whisk or sift before measuring and don't spoon into a cup. I thought I better note that because in the recipe I adapted these from it stated 4 cups flour (480g) but it only took me 3 1/2 cups to get to the weight they had listed and then some (495g). The best option is to use a kitchen scale, I highly recommend investing in one if you don't already have one. I always use mine when baking. **Cookies previously listed using 2 tsp baking soda, but a few have had issues with cookies rising so recipe has been improved to use baking powder instead. ***You can also use almond extract in place of lemon juice. Start with 1/4 tsp almond extract then add more to taste (then thin glaze with more milk as needed). That’s from the website that I made My cookies from. Enjoy!
Here in Ireland shortening is lard. We make bread like this and call it currant bread. We don't use raisins. Our currant bread is made the same as brown soda bread just with dried fruit added, no shortening. It's delicious warm with real butter 🤤
It so nice hear Joey talking sister and brothers funny and smart. 9 of family and dinner meat loaf like brownies. Chicken bur .......ned. U have a lovely friendship. 😂❤ Uk 🇬🇧 @Dh
I wonder if this was also old school....like make sure the meat is cooked. My mother did the same. My grandmother does this roast that she boils for hours. Even though it's grey throughout, it's juicy because of being boiled. Also, the amount of gravy that comes from it is enormous.
I think she meant by not beating it is that it is made with baking powder otherwise with yeast you knead much longer and with baking powder you don't have to knead it for long so it stays soft. and I think taking the bread 10 min out earlier makes a big difference maybe that's why joe thought it was dry
💗💗💗. I feel you with the dry meats. Lol my mom took it a step further especially on the can veggies. Let’s just say mush yuck 😆. She’d cook them to death ☠️ we use to call it 😆🤗💗
Omg! I've just discovered this! The stories are so interesting. And I like the recepies too! Everything is so entertaining , useful and very well put together! Thanks Danny x
We always had a can of Crisco when I was young. I'm glad to hear someone else has sweet potato pie. I was grown before I realized it wasn't a thing for everyone.
Shortening is just grease, you can usually substitute butter or oil. Its cheap versatile you can bake and fry with it important for large families on a small buget.
I remember my mom and grandma always having shortening to cook with. I just thought it was a southern way of cooking. But apparently it was just that time in life. Even though it is disgusting it always seemed to make the food good.
I was crazy about you guys like all the other girls were back in the 80's and I've really enjoyed rediscovering New Kids On The Block again. Thanks for never letting it all go away. Keep playing. I hope I can go to another concert again! ❤

Ingredients
3 1/2 cups (495g) all-purpose flour*
2 1/2 tsp baking powder**
3/4 tsp salt
1 cup (8 oz) unsalted butter, softened

Most shortening's are made from vegetable oil, just a solidified version. Lard, however is usually pork fat I believe.
