Because her roots are firmly planted in jazz, she is able to inflect in ways that a non-jazz singer, even a great one like Adele, just can't do. It allows her to reach the inner soul of the listener with such authenticity that it boggles the mind. The way she presents many of her lines does remind me of a style I can only remember coming from Amy Winehouse. I do know that Angelina adores Amy and Billie Holiday.
Angelina is not just a singer, but a storyteller as well. She opens her heart to let you in, and once you are in she opens your heart. At that point you feel as one with her emotions.

This was NOT an Adele song. It was written by Angelina the music and arrangement were hers as well. It was about her Grandfather who had recently passed away. I would like to add, Adelle has a particular texture and tone to her voice which is pretty constant throughout her many songs. It is nice except when directly compared to Angelina it sounds a little whiny. While there is something about Angelina that is identifiable in any song, her texture and tone are flexible and differ from song to song depending on what Angelina thinks best expresses the feelings in a particular song, or in this case where uses various textures and tonal qualities within the same one.
