Wonderful video! Haven't found those kind of mushrooms for awhile. Good eating and word of advice for these mushrooms. Get down on their level and take your time. Seems like they appear out of nowhere. Thanks you Luke for bringing back memories
I am totally dying to get out and go mushroom money. I live in Richland county in Ohio. People are finding them in Ohio and a whole lotta other states we just got a little bit of a cold snap right now. The ground is pretty warm. It’s right for fruiting mushrooms, about five more degrees. I can’t wait.
@LukesMushrooms I ate them for dinner last night and again for lunch. No ill effects and my stomach is sensitive! Gentle flavour and interesting texture. ❤
Usually you don't want them to be dry when picking them. You can dehydrate them afterwards, but still mushrooms need rehydration before cooking and eating.
Dude, your picking them all wrong! Pinch them off at ground level, so they may grow again next year. Your taking the whole thing which leaves no spores to grow again next year. Please learn how to pick before going out and foraging.
It's OK. These are fruiting bodies and will have set millions of spores. His action of moving them about will actually distribute the spores over an even wider area, I think .
The sights and sounds of spring! Beautiful!
Glad you like it, thanks for watching :)
Thanks for this Luke. I was so happy to find carpets of Scarlet Elfcups yesterday.
I'm yet to find any kind of Morel, false or otherwise 🍄
Good luck - in my experience scarlet elfcups start before morels, so seeing a carpet of them must be a good sign :)
I love your videos--very enjoyable mushroom hunt without leaving home. 👍🍄

Good luck there, I hope the weather will be nice.
❤ the dry ones can be picked and soaked in water and should be fine.
Thanks for the recommendation. I also think so, but on the other hand I didn't need many of them, so I only picked the freshest ones :)
Thank you Luke. Have you eaten scarlet elfcap and if so do they stay red when cooked?
Thank you for the comment. I haven't tried to eat them - here they are marked as inedible so I rather don't risk :)

@beccafirebird some mycologist consider them potentially toxic, because of latest research.
Do they have to be dry to eat them ?

I think one of those was schizophylum commune.
Yes, it was there too :)
Just soak the dry ones in water.
Thanks for the advice :)

Thanks for your comment. However, it's an old belief. I recommend to search for and study some modern materials about this topic.
Right ✅ I was screaming at the video. Stop that. Dude cut them off 😢
Well, you can either scream or you can search for more modern knowledge about mushrooms :)
