I agree
Yeah that's cool they keep compassion
Same.
It's so cold in the desert in winter, that you can die from exposure very quickly. Most people make the mistake of thinking the Mojave is always warm. I am so sorry for this man , and his family.
Deona D'Alvia you are beautiful looking. Nice.
@John Williams Sounds like you didn't and won't either
I have been VERY cold in that desert. If the Army hadn't been there, neither would I.
he wasn’t an amateur, though. He had over 20 years of experience. It’s very likely he killed himself, even his girlfriend thinks that’s what happened
If you lived there you’d know that
"Many who go trekking across the Mojave never return alive"
You got that right, too many damn Cazadores

Not actually what they're called, that's just the name of a DUMB book series covering underground bases. You'd have to be DUMB to accept DUMB as the official acronym

It is ironic that he believed navigational aids are for amateurs. As an experienced hiker (though not a professional, i.e., I don’t get paid to do it) I can tell you they are not. In fact, failing to use a map and compass or a GPS device is an amateur's mistake, and a very foolish one. It's like saying bike helmets are for amateurs. It doesn't matter how expert you are, you are still at risk. If you don't appreciate that, it indicates just how little you know about what your doing. Add to that the fact he would intentionally not take enough food or water as a personal challenge, and it no mystery that anyone who repeatedly plays Russian roulette ends up missing and presumed dead.
inkyguy i agree, i also find it humourous when telling a story about someone who goes missing in the woods/bush/dessert, the teller uses the disclaimer the the missing person was an expert or very experienced and thus could not have made a mistake or that an act of nature could not cause them to get lost/die/injured ,
Duane Johnson, absolutely. There is inherent risk in the wilderness. It is not Disneyland. Even the most experienced backpacker/woodsman can end up in a bad situation.
Any type of professional worth their salt will put safety first
Absolutely
It's believed he committed suicide now.
As someone who regularly hikes, even in some familiar places there are things you always take with you!
1) Navigation equipment
2) At least one other person
3) Enough provisions for at least one extra day
4) A weapon
5) Emergency equipment and communications
😞 Depression is a hellava monster. Far worse than any supernatural beast. Rest well Kenny.
Yes RIP
Kenny have a weapon actually
Dave Paulides recommends a firearm and a personal locator beacon at a minimum
Yup, I'm a born and raised virginian (so Appalachia is my area of choice to hike). I can approve of these rules, although I usually, admittedly, just go with my dog. Comms, emergency supplies, survival rations and a gun are always a must though. His girlfriend at the time has talked about it and thinks he committed suicide, he had been struggling with depression and said he mentioned considering suicide. Either way, hope he's resting in peace.
Kenny brought a gun
The illustrations and video style is great, and I love how you have added captions in a way that's just part of the video, not distracting or intrusive at all, but immensely helpful for anyone who has trouble hearing and likes to read along. Good narration too. Really draws you into the story (which is portrayed pretty accurately and in an enthralling and clear way too). I like this channel!
cinnamongirl3121 thanks for recommendation 🙂
I'm an Oddie fan also. Highly recommend it as well.
I was going to mention the captions too. Top notch channel!
I'm glad you mentioned infrasound. There are instances where it is generated naturally causing fear and sometimes hallucinations.
Yep. And in a suicidal person, the dread and/ or hallucinations infrasound can cause could very easily make him decide it was time to do it. Severe depression itself can cause what might be called hallucinations, that is, you are so focussed on a particular image, you think you can literally see it. In this case, that image could likely be his father.
That's a possibility as to what happened to the Dyatlov's pass incident.

I think his girlfriend was right, sounds like he had issues and the fact that suicide clearly ran in his family and he always explored with no directional tools makes it seem like he wanted to get lost and never found.
What a bullshit comment of someone who didn't do research.
Might be true
then why he replied to the comment of the other user who say to him not to go there?
@@bobthebuilder2922 Yeah, This seems like the most likely case. :/
I think that you are right to say that suicide is the most likely case here.
@Bedtime_Stories Infrasound can even make people vomit, experience severe depression or have aweful headaches. They don't even have to be purposefully made. There was an elevator at Brown University called "The Elevator to Hell" famous for causing vomiting and migranes in people who rode it. The cause was a bent ventilation fan blade. It was THAT SIMPLE. When they replaced the fan blade the infamous elevator no longer sickened people who were riding on it.
Lol, I guess that's where the term "the brown note" originates from!
Libera sean (a UA-camr) continues Kenny’s search for the M cave to this day and he might have found a cover up, but around the area where Kenny says the cave is supposed to be libera Sean started feeling similar vibrations and started throwing up

The fact that you actually take time to give your thoughts and prayers to the people involved in your stories truly gives the listener an emotional connection that you just don't get with other videos like these. Keep up the good work bedtime stories! Love the channel.
PRAYERS?! fuck this christian channel
Can I just say how respectfully I think you presented this case? So many mysteries forget that there is a human element to these kind if stories, and this is such a sad story. My heart goes out to his loved ones. Kenny, wherever you are - in this world or the next - I hope you found peace. X
I live in the south west of the U.S people walk into the desert over confident and they vanish. Search parties look for them for weeks and come up empty.
That scary lol
He must have been a very very sad person. Very few people know what this poor man must have felt dealing with his failures with a business and finances. RIP.
Conspiracy Theory: Bedtime Stories secretly plays infrasounds in their videos to make us feel even more uneasy and scared
Thank you , Narrator, For putting such a well edited and produced video, that, in fact, help me to understand his state of mind when going out to hike leading up to his final hike in November. I loved the way you produced sketches of the personality of the man we all saw in the first video he made of the M cave. The follow up research by Sean and Chris, even left me more intrigued. I haven't yet watched any of the sequential videos uploaded about that incident. But you have surely shined a searchlight on this case. Well done...Frank T. (California)

Kenny: "Maps and compasses are for amateurs."
Nature: "Do you feel lucky?"
What a kind, respectful way of telling his story. Kudos.👍
I really admire how you guys offer up different theories, and counteract them with plausible real life resolutions to all of these stories. So many channels seem to muck up details so that stories like this seem more mysterious or otherworldly than they actually are.
Very sad , poor guy ! Depression is no joke especially when you're struggling to just live! Many fall victim to depression after being diagnosed with a chronic illness or injuries which just never heal, medications lead to more problems which require more meds , you lose your job your social life even your family begin to slip from your grasp providing you even had any , you lose the ability to provide for yourself let alone anyone else. This can happen to anyone at anytime. Some are just born battling depression , it's hereditary, sometimes a parent or sibling has taken there life leaving you forever hurt. I've seen what it can do .. God bless & best wishes
Ya poor man
Thank you for covering this story. No matter what the outcome of his disappearance was, it can truly be said he kept his word, that he would never be found. Truly incredible. His memory is in my thoughts

Thank you for treating each of these cases with such dignity & respect. All too often, channels use graphic details, photos, etc for shock value alone. How refreshing, then, to find one who who goes out of his way to keep such details out, sparing loved ones any further pain. Wish more folks were as compassionate!! ♥️
I just wanna say how refreshing it is to watch your videos. You have genuine compassion for the tragedies. I love how factual it is and how you explore all avenues of what could have happened. Keep up the good work!!
I love that these videos end on such a respectful note toward the missing and the grieving families.
His former girlfriend Sheryon Pilgrim had saying, that Kenny had depression. She had also saying that Kenny had possible make suicide, because he had not taken his video camera to his last hike. It is possible that in the M-Cave was his wish to die. Who knows!
I think he was bullshitting about the cave and just telling a story to interest people. Occam's razor points towards this because you don't need to create hypothetical caves (with 0 evidence of their existence) or infrasonic generators. The camera left at home suggests that at least for this journey he had no intention of documenting any cave
Could be! I think he wanted to get attention. He suffered from depression and wanted to have recognition and look interesting in his hiking videos with his mysterious cave. Or... he is really a missing case, by the David Paulides stories. Who knows.
@@boozecruiser The Mojave has many mysteries!! Never say never!
Great works! Your vlogs reminded me of the Late 70's TV show "In Seach Of...", with Leonard Nimoy. I can just hear his voice narrating this.
1:42 48 000 square miles. ENGLAND is only 50 000 !! So the desert is the same area as England. That is crazy!!
Gwen Reese, I think it is sometimes hard for Europeans or others from countries that are more a typical size to appreciate just how vast the U.S. is (and Canada too). We had friends from Cambridge visit once and they were amazed we could travel by car across a state all day and still be in the same state.
And that's bigger than my country... Denmark
And England contains 55 million people and at times it seems like they all own at least two cars each.
I really like the way you give messages of comfort and encouragement at the very end.

I absolutely love this channel. You talk about weird, sad, sometimes horrible stories in the most elegant and respectful fashion. The illustrations, captions and soundtrack are great, too. I agree with all the comments stating the moving nature of your final thoughts. Thanks and congratulations
I really like how respectful you were to his case. Thank you for the wonderful content you really put a lot of effort into your work and I appreciate it
From his girlfriend's comment it seems very likely that he committed suicide.
So maybe somehow he wanted to communicate his deathwish without directly alarming anyone. The M-shaped cave might symbolize death/the afterlife. In his comment he said he ventured into every cave on his dangerous hikes and played with rattlesnakes. I think he intentionally put himself into danger, because he didn't cling to his life. Like "when I get back home alive then this is how it should be (for the moment)."
His posts reads to me like "I've been everywhere I wanted to, seen everything there was for me to see. There's just one more place I have yet to visit". It struck me, that he wrote he couldn't enter, because he only had a knife with him. Next time he will bring his pistol so that he can enter. He might have been on a hike that time without having the Intention to commit suicide. Then he discovered a cave and immediately thought "This is it! That's the place I want to die in". But then he only had a knife and pondered killing himself with it. This would be painful and he might just slowly bleed to death and he got afraid. Or he didn't feel determined enough in the first place and though a fearless guy he still feared death - as the feelings he described suggest. He decided to come back with his gun and more determination.
When he wrote "I didn't find it this time", I think it's not about the place, it's about his determination.
I wondered whether Lemi Kilmister was the only one, who understood what Kenny meant or if he was merely joking. I googled the user and found that his last activity was linking a movie: Heaven is for real. So I'm pretty sure he knew what Kenny was talking about (maybe being suicidal himself and thus "talking the same language").
Btw, there's one line from Kenny's comments, that - to my eyes - oozes symbolic meaning:
"The M cave is the only cave I ever feared going inside. I really want to find it again"
I think he was just telling tales out of boredom or desire for attention, which go hand in hand with depression. The cave probably doesn't exist, there is 0 evidence for its existence and the phenomena he described are at best unlikely. Also, he didn't bring the camera on his last journey meaning that for at least that journey, he had no intention of documenting any caves
@@sarielle85 wow i didnt even think of that
Sara G. You seem to have an intuitive understanding of that “same language” yourself, to be able to see that meaning.
I think they would have found his body by now if that was the case don’t you think?
If he did commit suicide off in the wilderness, I respect that decision. There's something to be said for recognizing the absolute shock and sorrow that comes from finding a dead loved one. May he rest peacefully, surrounded by the wilderness he loved.
I keep thinking that his body would have been found by now if that was the case though
@@ladypacman3030 maybe. Idk. Regardless, wherever he is, the sentiment stands.

You tube recently recommended your channel to me, it's really great! I love your narration style and the artwork. All the memories of the X-files' original run came flashing back :)
I appreciate your channel immensely. The writing, narration subject matter and artwork are all exemplary.
As someone who is living with bipolar disorder i can relate with most plausable theory, and that is that he commided a suicide. I am having suicidal thoughts, sometimes for weeks on daily basis and it is really hard fighting them off. I've also having the idea of just taking my things and disappearing, not because i thought i want to harm my beloved ones, but because of despair and the idea of me helping them out by removing myself as the burden from their lives. I tried to kill myself. My friends reacted and saved my life. 3 months later, I saved someones else life by giving CPR in the middle of the street. I reached out for help. I have been diagnosed 2 years ago and my life transformed completely after the treatment started. There is help. There is always someone who cares about you and if you are struggling, do not lose hope, reach out. Somebody loves you and needs you.
Thanks mann needed that!! I hope you're doing greatt!! Much respect to you for telling your story I can relate❤

I think Kennys disappearance is less about the cave, but more about plausible explanations. Having worked in the desert I can tell you it is a harsh place which charges a high price to those even slightly unprepared. If in fact Kennys mind was not focussed for survival and preparedness and instead his thought process was elsewhere as stated by his girlfriend then the result is evident. Sometimes we as thinking analytic beings go for the most complicated when in fact the cause is often the obvious and the answer is right in front of us. We know Kenny travelled with minimal supplies in order to challenge himself against the chosen environment. This is has been documented even by Kenny himself on his channel. Mother Nature should not be challenged as she demands a high price for failure. Secondly there has been an underlying elephant in the room as shown by at least 2 YT channels surrounding Kennys financial liquidity leading to him wanting to disappear. This too is a plausible reason and lets be honest it has happened before and is a reason for someone wanting to start over. Though I must admit, I know many people who find the going tough financially but who choose to work through it and remain with their families. One commenter on Kennys channel told him to not pursue the M cave and this comment and mention of in my opinion has only thrown us off the obvious scent and causation. Instead I think the comment was an off the cuff remark made by someone whom having witnessed Kennys upload became concerned and warned him off. Simply put the commenter responded to the situation because of the interpretation as presented by Kenny himself. Every-time in Kennys case I return to a memory of working in the desert and it being 52c in the shade knowing that this heat without a supply of water would be like hell itself. A hell I would want find a way out of no matter what, especially knowing I had not cool life giving water but instead, a loaded hand gun.
Humidor 2016 yeah but as a desert native who carries a loaded handgun at all times, you dont shoot yourself for lack of water. Trust me on that, the thought doesnt even pass your mind you are so focused on survival.
he was depressive, he wanted to die i think....maybe it was the last straw

Karl Whalls and how the hell does that matter when you are thirsty? You realize it gets up to almost 90 sometimes in November here, right? And air temp has NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR BODY STILL NEEDING WATER. You can and will still get dehydrated even if you are surrounded by ice if you dont drink water.

Lemmy Kilmister was the bassist and vocalist from the band Motorhead
Okay, I was born and raised near where this happened so I'm going to be the Lemy Kilmister here and tell you DO NOT GO INTO ABANDONED MINES OR CAVES.
I don't know why people go into such spooky places as those, especially alone. Haunted/abandoned buildings is one thing. But a mine or a CAVE for God's sake, you don't know where those things end.
There are three reasons I'll never enter a mine or cave of any kind.
1. "The Descent"
2. The man that got stuck in the cave and died, his body is still there, I still think about that one often
3. Anyone could be in there
I actually remember this guy. Or at least I remember watching a video or two of him talking about this very cave.
INFRASOUND: Would explain the feeling of vibration and the feeling of anxiety Kenny expressed when approaching the M Cave, and could be easily present within a deep reaching cave. But honestly from what I know about the case it`s very likely Kenny committed suicide and basically played a prank on everyone at the same time. I suspect the mine where his phone was found is his final resting place, and he simply went in further then the cameras checked.
Edit: Should have listened literally 3 seconds further, good thing you mentioned Infrasound. Personally, I think it`s responsible for more alleged phenomena then people are aware of.
Agreed. Infrasound is so recently discovered that we know very little yet about the phenomena it can produce and the range of effects it can have on humans. Among the effects it's known to produce on humans are feelings of dread. That may have pushed him over the edge in his depressed state. But hiking without adequate provisions for survival is quite enough to have killed him on its own.
The illustrations on this video is impeccable, & Narrating is quality! Brilliant video.

First of all I’d like to say that I absolutely adore all of your videos. You do an amazing job of bringing together all of the spectrum of information and presenting it in a factual manner without any bias towards a particular theory, and I really appreciate that. There is just one tiny thing that bothers me, you have done this in several other videos and I believe you do it twice here, and that is you keep using the incorrect tense of the word “succumb”. Your narrative is in the past tense, with all other verbs follow that same tense, therefore the word should be “succumbed” for the past tense verb. Sorry to nitpick, it’s just that everything else about your videos is absolutely perfect, so it really makes this stand out to me! Keep up the great work though guys, you are amazing!
I can believe I just found this channel! Great content 👍❤️👍
I really feel for his family and girlfriend :(
Have you heard of the disappearance of Dennis Martin, a young boy who went camping with family but went missing after playing hide and seek? The crazy part about this disappearance is that other campers claimed to have seen a Bigfoot-like creature leaving the area with supposedly someone or something slumped over it's shoulder.
Yep, really strange disappearance, we did an episode called "There is Something in the Woods", which mentioned that case.

I absolutely love the crude illustrations compared to the much higher fidelity drawings of the more recent episodes. It makes everything look much creepier.
You know what keeps me up at night? A damned jackrabbit.
In a video from the Exploring Abandoned Mines channel the narrator shines his flashlight on a Jackrabbit that must have fallen down a stope. The rabbit was alive and seemingly uninjured. But with no way out it was condemned to a slow death in that mine. I could't help but imagine 'what if a person found themselves facing that fate'? Just you and the darkness until you finally die. I sure hope that didn't happen to poor Kenny. Not one of the best ways to go.
