Man Kyo is so freaking emotive, that's what sets him apart from the rest, their music and his vocals are not just music, it's really expression and that makes it an Art. TRUE Art..
You guys have to be fucking deaf if you don't hear some early Korn influence in this song, just listen to the bass and guitars, I'm not saying this band sounds like Korn, but this song kinda does.
Hmmm Am I the only one who kinda see's these guys as the Japanese SlipKnot? More or less the older SlipKnot. Like their creepier songs you know? I see so much of that in here. I love the freaky tainted feel here.
Honestly I dont think they play this song as well as they used to. They used to play it spot on! especially the chorus. but now it sounds a little half assed. this is the second video ive seen of them playing it like this. Toshiya's really gotten into playing this song with a lot of slap bass which is awesome, but when you listen to the album version or older live versions you can hear alot of whats missing. Still one of my favorite Dir en Grey songs though!
@Skid20055 I'm not sure about the validity of the word "brilliancy"but Dir En Gray are certainly darker than the teenage angst of Korn or Slipknot and you don't even have to look at the lyrics to work that out. They are a lot more expressive in their music, live act and videos and even though it strictly isn't my sort of music now I've gotten older, I really appreciate the artistic merit.
never noticed it at the show with deftones it looked like a 6 string but i could have been wrong lol. and when i said it sounded different i meant the way the song was played not just the intro it sounded like there were a few improv things on the guitars.
@Lostman916 Sucks? Everyone how actually knows something about playing the drums, should see he`s very good. I play myself, and I`m not nearly as good as Shinya but still I admire him. You can`t judge about him after listening to one song. I agree with Crackapples1337, you should listen to Vinushka. It`s quite good.
I don't think it's that. Because if they were to show respect, they wouldn't be playing loud and hard shit like that on HIS Memorial. I think it's because Japanese people actually have respect for others and don't get too crazy like the Americans here. Because during the American Dir en grey Tour, I just saw a bunch of Americans moshing and beating the crap out of each other, but not the Asians in the audience.
@CrypticGrudge In a sense.. but theres a huge difference between Dir en grey and Slipknot... Slipknot likes to sound like utter gross tones and repetitivness when it comes to their songs... Just cause they don't care.. Dir en grey doesn't care what people want, but they do care about what they wanna throw out. They take a lot of time and pride into what they write and express it live.. And it can go from one extreme to the next in their genre all the time. Slipknots always heavy
Well this is the Hide Memorial Summit (commemorating the 10th anniversary of X Japan guitarist Hide's death). It's expected that they be showing some respect for the man, which would explain why they don't exactly seem "into it".
most venue's in japan tend to be like that with everyone "sitting down behaveing" if you look at any gig there most are like that. tbh it must be pretty daunting for bands.
Diru sounds like Diru and not like Korn or Slipknot . . . Do you ever thought that Korn and Slipknot sounds like Dir En Grey . . . ?! Godbless Diru !!!
@ankl3deep Thanks because Kyo in general sometimes weirds me out but I love their sound and Toshiya and Shinya. But isn`t it real when he scratches himself up? You have to admit some of the stuff he does is throwed off but sometimes I like throwed off.
@KoRnhogan I love them all as they are all so talented yet I totally agree with you, Toshiya is really great to watch performing live, they all are really so talented and entertaining
I wonder if Kyo hurts himself because he is tormented by some deeply traumatic childhood horror like most self abusers. The performance was great but honestly it does bother me to see him hurt himself and bleeding. Maybe its a turn on or relievement for him. Guess I just care too much....
@TheDragonlord103 I've heard the studio and live versions, and I must say the kind of guitar riffs are pretty similar what Korn used to play in their early songs, there's a CLEAR influence in this track.
@Lostman916 Drummer sucks? Are you serious? The song might not be that demanding but alot of their other stuff (especially Vinushka) is very technical. Glad you like the song though. :)
@SATOunbroken It's just kind of obvious. On tour he usually does the same kind of stuff at exactly the same point in the show every time. If he actually cut the same spot in his arm that many times for every show of the tour he would have cut clean through the bone by then.
Sorry.... I really didn't mean to offend anybody. When I said he was like the old school MM, I Meant as in shock value. Seriously< This is the only japanese band that scares the shit out of me.
Man Kyo is so freaking emotive, that's what sets him apart from the rest, their music and his vocals are not just music, it's really expression and that makes it an Art. TRUE Art..
I just LOVE how Toshiya plays the damn bass on this Live!

I'm in love with Kyo's shreik

ahh love his screams and growls mmmm
I'm not into nu metal at all, but this song is pretty cool.
Toshiya and Kyo Rocks this one !!!

3:00-3:43 fucking epic!

Dude, I gotta try that bass playing position.
who is it at0:27? i noe is blurry but who is it? And i notice there's a guy wearing a black color t-shirt or jacket, who is it?
never noticed it at the show with deftones it looked like a 6 string but i could have been wrong lol. and when i said it sounded different i meant the way the song was played not just the intro it sounded like there were a few improv things on the guitars.

@ankl3deep
I don't know where you heard this. LOL
what do the guitarist play in? it sounds around B
forget about this and keep playing the blitz 5 days version of this precious song =)

whats Vk days?
How can these guys be nu-metal? They're not boring!!!

i`ve always thought Toshiya was just a decent bass player but he`s pro!
Who was that in 1:01? The long hair guy with the tieing half pony tail?
@KoRnhogan Yeah, he looks kinda influenced by Fieldy, don't you think?
Diru sounds like Diru and not like Korn or Slipknot . . . Do you ever thought that Korn and Slipknot sounds like Dir En Grey . . . ?! Godbless Diru !!!
VK days??
@guitarrhythymfool thats true kyo has a lovely voice. love the song kodou. OBSessed with dir en grey
@ankl3deep Thanks because Kyo in general sometimes weirds me out but I love their sound and Toshiya and Shinya. But isn`t it real when he scratches himself up? You have to admit some of the stuff he does is throwed off but sometimes I like throwed off.

@dmrjeter most if not all of his self-mutilation is fake, like when he uses fake vomit onstage. it's part of his showmanship
I wonder if Kyo hurts himself because he is tormented by some deeply traumatic childhood horror like most self abusers. The performance was great but honestly it does bother me to see him hurt himself and bleeding. Maybe its a turn on or relievement for him. Guess I just care too much....
oh yeah, i liked that too...
@TheDragonlord103 I've heard the studio and live versions, and I must say the kind of guitar riffs are pretty similar what Korn used to play in their early songs, there's a CLEAR influence in this track.
@KoRnhogan ya toshiya is "G" as hell haha

@Lostman916
Drummer sucks? Are you serious? The song might not be that demanding but alot of their other stuff (especially Vinushka) is very technical. Glad you like the song though. :)
y el puto sonidooooooooooooooooooo?????????????''
@1019129114 I've never read, heard or seen them with an eight string, seven at the most.
@28fatkidsLater Nah, Slipknot and KoRn came years BEFORE Diru. I don't see how they sound like each other though...
@deathsinatrix93 this song is about abortion
@SATOunbroken It's just kind of obvious. On tour he usually does the same kind of stuff at exactly the same point in the show every time. If he actually cut the same spot in his arm that many times for every show of the tour he would have cut clean through the bone by then.
@cluSterfUck1000 seven string*
i love the band, but he seems to fail live. or is it just that injury i heard he had? did they used to be better live?
Toshi...
sweet, thought I was the only other gaijin :p
@ Shirobero - they [korn] cannot even be called a metal band
sick live . wakcen beats it tho
hey it's a 7 string sweet sounds kinda different from the way it's played on the album
Sorry.... I really didn't mean to offend anybody. When I said he was like the old school MM, I Meant as in shock value. Seriously< This is the only japanese band that scares the shit out of me.
there is no backing track. that is live. totaly live.
and just to say. god, the bassist is flippin brilliant.
Saw them at Download in 2009. I'd never heard of them at the time and they absolutely blew me away 🤘🤘
