Ryan... thank you for an excellent demonstration of WAITING for a response. (@ 2:35) I love that you gave this young man 30+ seconds to process and respond without re-prompting! These clips are great teaching tools for parents, therapists, teachers, students... Keep up the great work!
Ryan, your work has been inspiring my college students for the past couple of years. They are studying to be teachers of all sorts of populations...and we have have been exploring how to use music as a teaching tool. We love watching you and your students / clients!
it's wonderful, u get to gave him like 30 seconds to respond which is really helpful for both parents and teachers to see how u have done!!keep it up!!
This is so inspiring! I am a music teacher and have special needs student who is interested in lessons with me and this was great insight on the waiting for a response and making music fun, Thank you for sharing your talents!
I am working on a presentation for my Music class and I will use this example. Thanks for sharing. I like how simple this activity was and I liked how you waited on the student to respond. Keep up your hard work!
I LOVE this video! It helped so much for you to explain the need to give students processing time that's unique to them and to see how long you allowed the student to respond to the prompt for "under". What a GREAT teaching tool for special education teachers, para educators and others who work with special needs students. Parents and others can benefit from this, too. I will share your site with the Special Education teachers I work with and know as well as on my own social media pages. Thank you, again, for spreading the message about how to help persons with special needs learn to express themselves!
The time you waited!! And I thought I knew how to follow my kids pace and respect their time... Thank you so much for sharing! We've just started music therapy for my son with CP and your videos are inspiring.
oh wow! this is amazing and very inspiring! I was waiting for the response. and when he did, I was so happy he got it right.. You're an awesome therapist! I wasn't to incorporate music therapy in my interventions in the future!
Can I get the lyrics for the song here? or the complete song.. that would be great.. Thank you so much for this, you are an inspiration. I am going to be using this definately..
I am learning a lot from your video. Iam from India. I've also a child with special needs. He's suffering from ADHD problem and speech prblm. Now he's 9 years old. But he's a big lover of music. The problem is that, he's not trying to pronounce any word. So to solve that what I have to do Sir?
I would first have him evaluated by a speech therapist. I would also start to focus on alternative ways of communicating such as sign language or using an Alternative and Augmentative Communication Device. Not only can this non-verbal way of communicating be so empowering for a child, but it can also help inspire them to speak if they are able. I hope that helps!!!
I am a Music Therapist from India. I pretty much use the same techniques only Indian languages or the tune to either Indian songs or nursery rhymes depending on what my client loves.
