This story is a little wierd. After being separated for so long, Yi Chen and Moshen still harbored their teenage love for each other. But after her years in the US,Moshen seemed to have lost her spark and assertiveness and became withdrawn and timid , unable to speak the truth about her marriage of convenience mainly because she was intimidated by YiChen who wouldn't let her answer him fully.
When I read the book years ago, I don’t feel this way, so I guess it is a bad interpretation in the TV series. I also feel Mosheng’s character has changed unconvincingly or been interpreted by actress in a strange way.

After reflection, I think years of enforced separation from Yichen has led to Moshen's change of character. She missed him so much and even in 7 years in the US, she was not involved romantically with anyone, not even her "husband" who she married to save a child. And Yichen obviously felt the same but he was angry with her for 7 years of silence but unable to forget her. He has forgotten that it was him who chased her away!

Ridiculous the writers never gave her a voice, it was always frustrating to watch. When he asked her whether she even loved him, there was no answer from her. Why is this character so drastically changed now? She was all bubbly in school chasing her love and you could actually hear what she was saying, now she speaks in a whisper and hangs her head all the time. The wigs and cloths they dressed her in are horrible too. Obviously these are 2 different women playing a part, but the character is completely different now. The long wig at the end was the worst, all you could notice was her large dome for head sticking out. I was hoping through the whole drama that someone would take her too the mall finally and buy her some clothes. All the ridiculous long tops wardrobe had her in were awful. Anyway, I couldn't resist finally saying my piece. I love Wallace Chung but they always pair him up with a weird love intrest.
