I remember hearing someone say they were grateful for the word "muffin" because otherwise they'd have to admit that they ate cake for breakfast every day.
Funny that you say that, I remember seeing a cool mug years ago that said "eat cake for breakfast" but I couldn't find it anywhere when I came back to buy it the next day 😂
I have a baking tip for home bakers that might forget if they added an ingredient or not. I start with all my ingredients on my right and I move them to my left after they are used. That little tip has saved me from some disasters in the past.
Hey! THAT is a really GREAT tip. I do occasionally forget stuff ... especially if I am too concentrated on dancing to the music, rather than mixing my ingredients. 😅
Great idea. The French have thought of this too. It is called mise en place. Mise en place is a French phrase that means "putting in place" or "gathering". In culinary arts, it refers to the organization and preparation of ingredients and equipment before cooking or baking begins.
@@lisaray9404 yes. I am aware of the term. The part that is helpful here is moving each thing to the other side of the workspace once it is used. It is very difficult to tell if you forgot the baking powder (for example) once the sugar, flour, salt and anything white has been added.
@@irener1111 So happy you know the term. I wasn't sure because you didn't mention it. Unfortunately, moving things around, left to right, front to back, whatever the case may be, simply doesn't work for me. That's why I stick to time-tested and proper cooking/baking techniques. I put each ingredient in it's own container. Before I begin baking, I check to see if I have everything ready. Regardless of what I do, I am thrilled your technique works for you. Best wishes.
Hi Emmy!! I don't comment often, but I've been following you for years. I just wanted to offer some love to help with the fact that you lost all of your stuff. That's so terrible. I love that you decided to enjoy your vacation anyway. Take as long a time as you need to regroup.. we'll be here!! ❤️❣️❤️
You've been my comfort UA-camr since I was 9, I'm 15 now and although I don't watch you as much as I used to, every time one of your videos pop up I always have to watch! Love you Emmy! And thanks for teaching all of us so many fun recipes and just giving us great content in general over the years! :3
If I was an Olympian (I'm definitely not fit nor young enough to be lol), I would hope that my event was one of the earliest, just so that I can spend the remaining ~2 weeks enjoying the rest of the events and facilities, chocolate muffins and all!
Emmy, standing in her utility room eating a chocolate "muffin" brought back memories of when my kids were young and I would have to sneak the "special" snacks.
Fun story: my Dad started a muffin shop in Germany about 20 years ago. He imported flour from Canada, because he just couldn’t make muffins ‘right’ with European flour.
@@napoleonfeanor yes. The gluten and starch content are different. Try making a proper French baguette from North American flour- it’s just not the same.

Hey Emmy! I enjoyed your vid on the Dubai chocolate bar. Later the algorithm sent me a vid from a South Korea bakery that makes them also. Thought you'd be interested to hear that they don't buy pistachio cream but instead roast raw pistachio nuts then grind them up to the consistency of peanut butter. To that, they add melted white chocolate before blending it with the kataifi. They didn't use tahini at all. The melted white chocolate acted as the thinning agent for the ground pistachios which seems a more suitable item then the more savory tahini.
Hi, yeah I think we both watched the same video. When she added tahini I was thinking ‘oh, they used white chocolate in Dubai’! I just just watched it before emmys vid.
The Circle K near my house has a Chocolate Muffin similar to this one. They are real good. My wife and I split one with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a little dessert once or twice a week.
These cupcake-muffins look amazingly good! I will try and share with my colleagues. I bet the athletes would have cried if someone made them these chocolate heavenlies. I heard they didn't get very good food, no a/c and terrible sleeping conditions. The cupcake-muffins would have been better than gold. I give Mrs. Emmy 10 out of 10 on her baking skills today. She wins a gold medal from me!! 👌😊🙏🏻💖🥇
Freezing them helps to trap in moisture and when you defrost them, it redistributes so you end up with a cake that's evenly moist. You're also aging the baked good, which intensifies and improves the flavor. I'm a hobby baker and I always try to chill or freeze my cakes ahead of time to improve the texture and flavor.
Oh wow, thanks for this video. I hadn't heard of this, and I will be making them next weekend. Update: Made these last weekend and they are the best cake I've ever tasted. The hardest part was making and cutting out the cupcake molds, I will be buying 6x6 parchment to make these again.
Thank you for this video! I’ve so enjoyed watching this Olympics on TV. The celebration, sportsmanship, comradery, and accomplishments from years of dedication from the athletes. I can’t wait to try to make these muffins. 😋
Emily, i tried this, and it was a hit. Thank you so much. Sour cream is expensive here in ph so i substituted it with all purpose cream + vinegar. Also i was skeptical with 2 tsp salt, so i just added half tsp hehe. The freezing method is a wonderful idea. It makes it moist and more chocolaty. I made 11 pcs big muffins in total.
Bonjour. Funny view from France, the country that produces and creates the greatest varieties and best artisanal pastries in the world, whether it's an industrially manufactured French pastry that is so successful. ^^ For information these muffins are sold in France in university school canteens, but fortunately for students in France at a much lower price. 😅 Well after, I have not tasted it, but a friend volunteer at PARIS 2024 yes, and she confirmed to me that they are delicious! 🤤
I found that when I freeze my Costco muffins, they always taste better. It’s like next day lasagna and leftover Chinese food. I don’t know why, but some leftovers always taste better the next day. Fried old chicken and leftover cold pizza. Yum, yum
Hi Emmy! Long time fan and video editor here! I don't know what software you use, but there should be an option to force the audio to go to both the left and right channels in post if your audio keeps only recording to one side! It's just a temporary fix until you figure out your new equipment! Hope that helps! Love your videos and I've been dying to try these muffins since I saw that athlete making memes about them! ♥
I have often referred to these kinds of baked good as "cupcakes masquerading as muffins", blueberry, apple cinnamon, chocolate, or any of those other ultra sweet things. These look fantastic! Though I'm not a dark chocolate fan, I might need to alter a bit to more milk choc (the second time 😁).
I don’t know about the USA, but here in Kuwait, McDonald’s triple chocolate muffin looks almost the same (minus the topped chocolate sauce). It’s SO delicious, rich and chocolatey and has a gooey chocolate cream center. I think it’s so underrated or ppl hasn’t discovered it yet (just coz it’s a McDonald’s muffin)!
That last part where you tried the frozen muffins reminded me so much of the old emmy in japan trying japanese treats. That very up close and personal camera angle 🤭😆
