I've noticed this with Taemin reacting as well as other kpop idols like Baekyun and some other groups - they hardly react at all but are intensely focused and usually react to the production aspects of the MV rather than the music or performance. It's a bit frustrating to not get more of a gut reaction from them but it makes sense they are reacting as performance professionals and critiquing at a different level/different angle than just a regular audience.
am i the only one who loved this song in just first listen? im sm stan since 2009 and im so used to their unique and experimental music especially shinee and f(x) that bring me to kpop and stayed for exo, nct, rv aespa and many other sm artists.. props to their producers too! They are all so genius!

This song is amazing. The first time I heard this song I immediately liked it and stuck in my head. Fyi this song is prohibited from being heard by the South Korean government during school exams. Because this song is very catchy and easy to hear, the students are afraid that they won't focus
Idols from "older" gen group tend to not show much reaction to other kpop idol groups performances when in camera. This is to avoid misunderstanding and rumors. Maybe that's why Taemin is not bopping as much.
Umm, I have other opinion. They usually show a lot reactions or support to other artists. But in this video, taemin act as a sunbae/senior so he tend to put himself to review aespa's song and performance. It's known that LSM sent their rookies music videos to senior artists to ask their opinions

I'm so happy to have found this. I really love all the thoughtfulness put into the breakdowns here, and your incredible talents to contribute to aespa getting to the next level!
The way you explained how Aespa is doing lore is very well put~ I've been trying to find ways of explaining that they're not just doing music, the group is delivering a story through various mediums of music, film and many upcoming possibilities. If they can pull off a successful telling of the entire story to the fans, it can become an incredible new selling point. Whereas before, entertainment is usually split into nice sections of music, film, perhaps musical or comedy etc. Aespa could potentially inspire entertainment to encompass a wide range of avenues for the same brand/group/product instead of within one genre.
I've watched all of these reactions 🤣 Because it really IS interesting to see people try to process this. I honestly had to write this song out to figure out how the "sections" were structured, and to wrap my head around it. And whaddya know, I've listened to it probably 40 50 times by now hahaha. In LOVE with the innovation.
Beautiful!!! I've probably listened to it a hundred times, lol, but only because we made it. Stay tuned to another video where we'll breakdown the sections and much more
That makes sense, I know some dancers who move so much when they are on stage that when they are listening to music at home they actual do the opposite, they can just sit and listen rather than be moved by the music.
Sir aespa is currently the highest charting 4th generation group in Kpop and only the artist from their company to reach #1 in Melon weekly chart and #1 Melon 24-hits. Melon is the biggest music platform in South Korea. You did amazing and hoping for more successful future!!!
Congrats this song won Song of the Year in Korean Music Awards, that's something like Grammy level. Aespa wasn't the only group with lore but lore definitely started from SM Ent. decades ago. It started from EXO but some could argue SM already laid the foundation from their 1st and 2nd gen. Like S.E.S Dreams come true MV already looks futuristic enough and TVXQ also has its own lore.

I swear Next Level is so addictive! there are a lot of articles that says NL will be banned during Korea National College entrance exam bcuz of the catchy beat and it's distracting the students 😂 students in korea while taking the exam be like "wooo weee wooo weee i'm on the next level"
I'm so glad Umu (Reacttothek) posted the link to your video because I love learning about the whole process that goes into making K-pop songs and all the little added details most might miss, I find it very fascinating and interesting especially since music has been a big part of my life and something I couldn’t live without. I hope you do more reactions even if they aren’t your songs because with your ability and knowledge you can spot things most of us can’t and it's fun learning about them. You did an amazing job on Next Level, it’s always stuck in my head which I’m sure was the point for having such a catchy chorus. Hope it continues to blow up and I look forward to your next song. I love the unique switch-ups in sound when it comes to SM groups and their music along with their storylines, it's a nice break from mainstream music and you won’t hear anything else similar which is what I personally prefer when it comes to listening to music

You got me grooving and questioning (in a very cool way) how you came up with the song, now that you explain it I'm even more into the track. This was awesome, hope I get yo hear more of your songs... And maybe even a production with EXO
@@thebillboard500club oh yes! Count me in, I truly love the song breakdowns I've seen this far... and not only EXO, I'm telling you, I'm so here to be educated
The bridge in this song, is so SM.... I heard the original Next Level, but this one has such a addictive vibe to it! The vocals are on point!! The video was amazing, it was so cool to get the inner perspective of one of the producers!
This song is classic sm entertainment flexing. They're fearless with their musical creativity. Great job co-creating this 🔥 track. Showcases aespa's NEXT LEVEL TALENT
I’ve been watching your Exo reactions.. i didn’t know you created next lvl cuz I gotta tell you. This song hits different. I love it and I’ve been listening to it so many times ngl. It’s just very unique and different than other songs that Kpop brings out these days. Well it’s SM after all. Thank you very much. Keep producing do your thang it’s a masterpiece .
I can proudly say that I liked the song from the first listening. Of course I was confused at some parts cause I felt like this is like a mixture of songs but for the first time I didn't mind it (Or second cause SuperM's "One (Monster and infinity)" was a mix of songs). Actually the different parts of the song made it unique. Thanks for being creative and giving explanations to us ^^
as far as I remember SHINee were the first ones (at least for SM, idk about music industry as a whole) to do a mixture of 2 songs. It was for their song "Sherlock(Clue+Note)" (one of THE biggest kpop hits and incredible live performance with the most expensive choreography until this day), and then SuperM's "One", so I was pretty used to hear 2 songs mixed together the change wasn't THAT shocking for me but it is the reason why I love this song so much :)
I find myself singing the “im on the next level” throughout my day its so catchy! If you like lore in music please look into Loona! They have created an entire universe throughout their 30+ music videos. Its more subtle than aespa but if you like thinking, Loona is really enjoyable!!
I very much enjoy your reaction and analysis. The SM Cultural Universe is evolving, however, it's a natural progression and not too far afield for SMCU, following the existing narrative, especially fueled by EXO and NCT. It's obvious you are not familiar with kpop because you didn't recognize Taemin at 5:52, who was doing his own analysis from a senior SM artist's perspective. When you used Taemin as someone "who is not really dancing," I fell out of my chair! Thank you for the fresh perspective. If you have the time or the inclination, or just want to relax, I recommend checking out the mvs for Taemin's Criminal, IDEA, Heaven (the performance stages and live 45° angled stage), Move, Want, Black Rose (ft Kid Milli), and so much more. Advice is his latest solo release and Atlantis and Don't Call Me are the latest releases with SHINee, the last three songs for which aespa posted reaction videos.

The first moment when i heard Next Level, i already fall for it, it's so addictive & refreshing, eventho im not a fan of aespa!! It is really a great song!! thanks for producing it!!
I really applaud and commend the geniuses behind the song, just like you said sir, it's "breaking boundaries" there's innovation and uniqueness in it and I'm really in for this type of adventure, musically speaking. Again, thank you for giving Aespa such a masterpiece ❤️
It's amazing that while SM got a LOT from this guy in so many ways with just this song, he also got something back from working with aespa. I'm expecting a lot of innovation from SM from now on, but I'm also looking forwards to seeing what he'll create after this experience and getting this amount of feedback, so from now on I'll look into the producing credits of any soundtracks i see 👀👀
thank you so much for upload this! it's always nice to know the insights from those who produced the song... and this song is really on the *next level*
Wow so you’re one of the producers behind this masterpiece!!! This song is actually banned in Korean high school exam or st like that bc its too addictive hahaha. Hope that makes your day somehow! And its doing really well on the charts as well!
The song is definitely a grow-er... First listen, kinda weirded out(not because it's bad, but it's something new and interesting).. A few listen after the initial one, it grew on me... Now wherever I go, I subconsciously sing "I'm on the nExT LeVEuHHL"
so you’re one of the people who made this song. my goodness…i was soo confused on the beat change but it makes more sense now: it was to connect with the æ’s…i lowkey wanted the beat to change again after the last chorus…i fell in love with the song after the 2nd listen
After listening to what you said about things that catch your attention and song changes, one song that sticks out is The Blue Stones - Spirit, I love how it builds, explodes and starts again. I must hear it again and again, I also fell in love with EXO's Obsession and I had much the same reaction to Next level too, it's a great song, on a playlist with SuperM - One and 100, WayV - Nectar and Kick Back, KNK - Sunset, EXO's new song is growing on me too
5:53 This someone who is not dancing... Me : Sir, that's Taemin, Aespa's senior colleague in SM. You don't know him? 😅 Anyway, nice to see you explain the process of producing this song.
Jordan 9:11 is a video editor who's edited for large artists and I enjoy his reacts from that lense. Kulture Study is another one who reacts from the POV of a video editor. Aespa has so much going on musically and visually
Thank you so much for explaining and giving so much information about how you want the song to be! At the beginning, it received a huge criticism but now, the song is slaying all of Korean music charts and it broke a lot of records.
Sir, since I followed Kpop group from SM long time ago, like maybe 2009, one thing i also noticed like you said, point of choreo make us mimicked it automatically since the first reaction/listen to it, thats really SM style. Mostly their song choreo make us dance too, like not so hard to remmeber, We can added many SM song went viral n spread hallyu wave at those times. Example Sorry-sorry n Mr Simple by Super Junior, Gee n I got a boy by Girls Generation, Lucifer n Ringdingdong by Shinee, Hot Summer n four walls by Fx, Growl, Call me baby, Love shot by EXO, Dumb dumb, Russion Roulette, Red flavor by Red Velvet, Boss, Kick it, Hot sauce by NCT n then now Next level n even Black Mamba also famous, we can see many idols covered to it too, not only fans Kpop/kpopers. So, my conclusion, SM really no joke sir...
Awesome I watched literally all of these reaction vids for this mv so this is an extra special reaction! Love the breakdown and explanations 🥰 great job on the song!!!! It makes me want to watch Hobbs and Shaw not gonna lie but I can't stop listening and watching the mv and all the dances!!!!

I swear Next Level is so addictive! there are a lot of articles that says NL will be banned during Korea National College entrance exam bcuz of the catchy beat and it's distracting the students 😂 students in korea while taking the exam be like "wooo weee wooo weee i'm on the next level"
I WAS ACTUALLY LAUGHING BCZ OF THAT LMAO 😭😭😭
Insanity!
I came here to see reacttothek:D but wow thank you so much for this! it's very interesting to see the production story behind
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Emma! I create music under a few different alias so this isn't my first release by any means. If you'd like to hear more of my own releases check out my stuff under Sons of Legion. Hope you like it! Feel free to checkout some of the other projects I'm involved with here as well: open.spotify.com/playlist/59nFy0N62tK8220n3tGvap?si=0f2ea7cd407e4617
I came here just after my 3rd. video of you reacting to EXO... I so didn't know you were behind this ridiculously catchy song. Congrats man! You got me grooving and questioning (in a very cool way) how you came up with the song, now that you explain it I'm even more into the track. This was awesome, hope I get yo hear more of your songs... And maybe even a production with EXO
Thank you Lucero :) I hope you subscribe and stick around for more EXO
@@thebillboard500club oh yes! Count me in, I truly love the song breakdowns I've seen this far... and not only EXO, I'm telling you, I'm so here to be educated
This song is absolutely amazing, thank you for your part in producing this masterpiece
Thank you Cort Sport!
The bridge in this song, is so SM.... I heard the original Next Level, but this one has such a addictive vibe to it! The vocals are on point!!
The video was amazing, it was so cool to get the inner perspective of one of the producers!
Glad you enjoyed it Manasi. I hope you stick around and subscribe :)
This song is classic sm entertainment flexing. They're fearless with their musical creativity. Great job co-creating this 🔥 track. Showcases aespa's NEXT LEVEL TALENT
Thanks Dave
I’ve been watching your Exo reactions.. i didn’t know you created next lvl cuz I gotta tell you. This song hits different. I love it and I’ve been listening to it so many times ngl. It’s just very unique and different than other songs that Kpop brings out these days. Well it’s SM after all. Thank you very much. Keep producing do your thang it’s a masterpiece .
Thanks Bambi
I can proudly say that I liked the song from the first listening. Of course I was confused at some parts cause I felt like this is like a mixture of songs but for the first time I didn't mind it (Or second cause SuperM's "One (Monster and infinity)" was a mix of songs). Actually the different parts of the song made it unique. Thanks for being creative and giving explanations to us ^^
You're welcome :)
as far as I remember SHINee were the first ones (at least for SM, idk about music industry as a whole) to do a mixture of 2 songs.
I just want to thank you and your whole team for producing this song. In my opionion it is one of the best songs to come out of kpop.
Means a lot Medha! Thank you
really appreciate yours and the team's efforts to producing "next level". it's a great song!
Happy to hear it! Thank you
I find myself singing the “im on the next level” throughout my day its so catchy!
If you like lore in music please look into Loona! They have created an entire universe throughout their 30+ music videos. Its more subtle than aespa but if you like thinking, Loona is really enjoyable!!
Trust me , it happens to me too. I'll be walking into jiu jitsu class and all of a sudden I hear "I'm on the next level" lol in my head
Thanks for your message, yes I'm new to discovering Kpop, it's very intriguing!
I'm doing Taemin’s Advice this week as a live stream for Patreon pledgers only! Check the community posts tab for details. I hope to see you there. Pledge to join our community of "Golden Ears" now: www.patreon.com/musicindustrycontact
Thank you for this song! Its really fun to breakdown this song from musician perspective.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it from a musicians perspective Al
Appreciate it Anthony
Great insight!!!! Thank you
You're welcome DTC
Jordan Orme's reactions are the best!! Thank you for this!
Glad you like them! Jordan is awesome!
Thank you so much 💗
You're welcome!
Next level is indeed a whole new level
Thank you!
I really love your explanation. This song is great! Thank youu.
You're welcome Christine =)
It's amazing that while SM got a LOT from this guy in so many ways with just this song, he also got something back from working with aespa. I'm expecting a lot of innovation from SM from now on, but I'm also looking forwards to seeing what he'll create after this experience and getting this amount of feedback, so from now on I'll look into the producing credits of any soundtracks i see 👀👀
Thank you :) Check out my music under Sons of Legion which is my band. We are releasing one new song a month.
The Worldclass performancer & super girl group~~ aespa~~!!^^!!♥
Yea they are great!
Thank you for creating this!!!
You're welcome!
thank you so much for upload this! it's always nice to know the insights from those who produced the song... and this song is really on the *next level*
Thank you!
Wow so you’re one of the producers behind this masterpiece!!! This song is actually banned in Korean high school exam or st like that bc its too addictive hahaha. Hope that makes your day somehow! And its doing really well on the charts as well!
I am one of the producers! Thank you. It's pretty crazy.
Wow! Thank you so much for deconstructing this. I really love this comeback from the group. :)

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!
You're welcome Bow p
The song is definitely a grow-er... First listen, kinda weirded out(not because it's bad, but it's something new and interesting).. A few listen after the initial one, it grew on me... Now wherever I go, I subconsciously sing "I'm on the nExT LeVEuHHL"
yess 🔥
so you’re one of the people who made this song. my goodness…i was soo confused on the beat change but it makes more sense now: it was to connect with the æ’s…i lowkey wanted the beat to change again after the last chorus…i fell in love with the song after the 2nd listen
Happy to hear it! Enjoy :)
This was really interesting and informative!
Glad you got something out of it!
This is classic sm style where they fit 3 songs into one
Yeah for sure!
Who ever who mixed and produce this song is genius. It can't get out of my head for weeks😭
So addictive, whenever i do nothing wen't "neXTs leVeuLl"😭
Thank you for your kind words
Thank youuuu so muchhh
You're welcome Fajar :)
After listening to what you said about things that catch your attention and song changes, one song that sticks out is The Blue Stones - Spirit, I love how it builds, explodes and starts again. I must hear it again and again, I also fell in love with EXO's Obsession and I had much the same reaction to Next level too, it's a great song, on a playlist with SuperM - One and 100, WayV - Nectar and Kick Back, KNK - Sunset, EXO's new song is growing on me too
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for being a subscriber :)
5:53 This someone who is not dancing...
Me : Sir, that's Taemin, Aespa's senior colleague in SM. You don't know him? 😅
Anyway, nice to see you explain the process of producing this song.
Ah makes sense!
In fact Taemin is one of legendary dancers in kpop industry 😆
I laugh when Taemin (One of the Kpop legends) appeared 😭 thanks for producing the song its one of the best song released this year.
Also, love your descriptions and explanations
I'm happy to hear it!
I said from the very beginning that the production level on Next Level was NEXT LEVEL. That's a lot of levels.
Jordan 9:11 is a video editor who's edited for large artists and I enjoy his reacts from that lense. Kulture Study is another one who reacts from the POV of a video editor. Aespa has so much going on musically and visually
Next level is definitly my fav 2021 song so far! You guys did a really good job!
Wow thank you so much! I appreciate it 🙏
I love that transition for real...
Thank you so much for explaining and giving so much information about how you want the song to be! At the beginning, it received a huge criticism but now, the song is slaying all of Korean music charts and it broke a lot of records.
Crazy!
"Next level" is a really cool song! Great respect for the producer 👍 I absolutely love this song ❤️❤️❤️
Much appreciated, it was definitely a team effort!
I am really addicted this song keep making bops like this sir 👍🏻
This song is so catchy. I have to always turn it up. Good job!
Thank you
Awesome I watched literally all of these reaction vids for this mv so this is an extra special reaction! Love the breakdown and explanations 🥰 great job on the song!!!! It makes me want to watch Hobbs and Shaw not gonna lie but I can't stop listening and watching the mv and all the dances!!!!
It's a great movie. Definitely check it out!
@@thebillboard500club oh I've seen it a million times that's why the song makes me want to watch again bc i can see the scene happening as it plays 🤣
Wow, thanks! I'm addicted to that song
A healthy one indeed
