So I built this deck a bit differently. I’ve played it a few times and I feel like it is a much better better route to go with this commander. when I examined Lara, it was more apparent to me that she is most definitely supposed to be a Voltron commander. This means, quite frankly, you will want to have a much more robust equipment package. I also decided to include a copy package within the deck, because, obviously, what’s better than 1 Lara? Many Lara(s)! Irenicus’s Vile Duplication, Spark Double, and some others, including Mirror Box, will help you get there. I also ran Jhoira in The deck, so it seemed only fitting to run only Legendary creatures to maximize her effect. The overall arching theme of this deck should be the recursion of Legendary artifacts and Lands, so running a bunch of mana rocks, although very convenient for ramp, just ends up clogging up your deck and bin with things that can’t be brought back with her. She has a treasure theme built in, and that should really help you with ramp on subsequent turns to substitute for no mana rocks outside of Sol Ring and Arcane Signet. The general idea of her game plan is to swing a couple of times and win by commander damage. Giving her trample and making her unblockable and protecting her is paramount. The One Ring could be a great add, but I did not include this simply because after Goldfishing the deck several times, it was hard to get off the board and once it was off the board, I really didn’t want it to come back. It probably would have been better if I didn’t have Reliquary tower or Thought Vessel, considering you really want to have most of your stuff in the bin to cheat out with Lara, and not really all of it in your hand. I did have some crazy turns with cards like Displaced Dinosaurs and Brudiclad with the copy effects! You can win through this and other combos like it that I put in the deck. Also, you can go one other way that’s similar and that is with extra combat steps. I originally had these in the deck, but ultimately I had to sacrifice the strategy for space for more legendaries. I’ll put the Moxfield link on here in a bit in case anyone is interested in checking the build out.
I Agree with your voltron aproach. The few games I had I noticed that you need to take advantage of Lara's low mana cost and protecting her at all cost. I felt it was easier to win by commander damage than other win-con.
Great video! I really like the concept of taking secret lair cards to make decks. Are you thinking of doing the same with the secret doctor who? The celestial toymaker and the meep look like very interesting commanders!
