  • A full hybrid between Musescore 4 Muse Sounds for the string orchestra and the EastWest Hollywood Choir WordBuilder running in Logic Pro.
    An absolute nightmare to do!
If it sounds ever so slightly Mozarty, as in his genius work of the same name, so be it.
Written in Musescore 4 with Muse Sounds.

Thank you very much Jean-Pierre. I was very pleased with this but unfortunately UA-cam didn't agree so much! But a choir in northern France will be performing it this year, which is nice..

Were you able to use Hollywood Choirs in Musescore 4, or did you have to mix them in later in Logic?

This was done in the early days of MS4 and it/Hollywood Opus kept crashing, so I gave up and did the choir completely in Logic (importing the midi from MS4 and drawing-in the dynamics etc.) and then mixed it with the strings from Musescore (exported as WAV stems). However, even with current MS4's VST integration being more much reliable, apparently, the problem remains as to how to effectively control the instrument's dynamics/expression/articulations from MS4 staves, which is far from straightforward and you spend more time fighting with that than being creative, so I've not tried it again since. If you figure it out, do let me know!

@@JeffWardMusic Thanks for the detailed response. I use Hollywood Choirs in Sibelius with the Graphical MIDI Tools plugin, which gives DAW-like functionality to Sibelius; otherwise, it would be cumbersome to program dynamics using hidden MIDI CC message. However, since OPUS, the Hollywood Choir's sample engine, is now a VST3 and Sibelius only recognizes VST2's natively, I can only use HC's in Sibelius via a third-party host, such as Vienna Ensemble Pro. This is so cumbersome that I was hoping that MuseScore had gotten better at integrating third-party sample libraries. If so, I'd happily switch over. (Dorico recognizes VST3's, but I have no idea how to use it and find the learning curve frustratingly high.) It sounds like the hurdle is programming dynamics in MuseScore 4. Hmmm...let's hope they integrate DAW-like functionality into MuseScore so we can edit MIDI CC messages. Then it might just be the best notation app on the market.
