I love Tori Amos!!! Always have, always will. Her voice is sweet and her style is savvy. She makes her songs her own, even when another made it before. She makes love to her songs and those that hear can feel her passion. It is the work of a true artist!!!
Holy crap...I've listened to a lot of Tori and seen quite a few shows. Was just talking about her piano bar days and how she had to be a human jukebox, just like in the song "Piano Man" and BAM! There it is! Two of my lifetime favorite musical geniuses coming together. So beautiful!
One of the best pianists of the 20th/21st century (Tori) playing another one of the best pianist's of the 20th/21st century (Billy Joel) song. Tori is amazing. This cover is phenomenal.
Her lizard lounge in each of her shows is absolutely unique in each town where she performs - she is really a jukebox lady! She takes down the song requests of her guests (called 'ears with feet') in the M&G in the afternoon on a sheet and then picks up 2 of her list. During the rehearsal from 15-18h she would suck up the lyrics and melody and then play them in the evening. So, at least, 2 ♡♡ are broken then exploding fir happiness and gratitude!! That's one of the reasons her guests travel with her going from town to town with her as each concert is full of surprises and each setlist is a different one!!!!!
It's nine o'clock on a Saturday The regular crowd shuffles in There's an old man sitting next to me Making love to his tonic and gin He says, "Son can you play me a memory I'm not really sure how it goes But it's sad and it's sweet And I knew it complete When I wore a younger man's clothes" Sing us a song you're the piano man Sing us a song tonight Well we're all in the mood for a melody And you've got us feeling alright Now John at the bar is a friend of mine He gets me my drinks for free And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke But there's someplace that he'd rather be He says, "Bill, I believe this is killing me" As a smile ran away from his face "Well, I'm sure that I could be a movie star If I could get out of this place" Now Paul is a real estate novelist Who never had time for a wife And he's talking with Davy, who's still in the Navy And probably will be for life And the waitress is practicing politics As the businessmen slowly get stoned Yes they're sharing a drink they call loneliness But it's better than drinking alone Sing us a song you're the piano man Sing us a song tonight Well we're all in the mood for a melody And you've got us feeling alright It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday And the manager gives me a smile 'Cause he knows that it's me they've been coming to see To forget about life for a while And the piano sounds like a carnival And the microphone smells like a beer And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar And say "Man what are you doing here?" Sing us a song you're the piano man Sing us a song tonight Well we're all in the mood for a melody And you've got us feeling all right.
Dreadful, sucked all of the life out it - it's almost like a piss take. It's like how badly can I twist this and how nasal can I get and still get people to go ' wow - so original' and 'Genius'. The original had humour, melancholy, frustration, loneliness, the dynamics of real life - this is just a whining mournful dirge.

Jonathan McDaniel Could not have worded it better!!

Very, very nice! As always is Tori ....
It's nine o'clock on a Saturday
The regular crowd shuffles in
There's an old man sitting next to me
Making love to his tonic and gin
He says, "Son can you play me a memory
I'm not really sure how it goes
But it's sad and it's sweet
And I knew it complete
When I wore a younger man's clothes"
Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feeling alright
Now John at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my drinks for free
And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke
But there's someplace that he'd rather be
He says, "Bill, I believe this is killing me"
As a smile ran away from his face
"Well, I'm sure that I could be a movie star
If I could get out of this place"
Now Paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And he's talking with Davy, who's still in the Navy
And probably will be for life
And the waitress is practicing politics
As the businessmen slowly get stoned
Yes they're sharing a drink they call loneliness
But it's better than drinking alone
Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feeling alright
It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the manager gives me a smile
'Cause he knows that it's me they've been coming to see
To forget about life for a while
And the piano sounds like a carnival
And the microphone smells like a beer
And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar
And say "Man what are you doing here?"
Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feeling all right.
It's perfect
Fabuleuse interprétation comme seule Tori peut le faire.
love it
I love Tori, but this makes me wanna look for Billy's original
Medicore
@DCalabro07 see you do better huh
Terrible
Yeah this song isn't for her
Doesn't work for me. To be fair, it's live, and playing the piano and singing is not an easy thing to do.
