I love the way you do everything with precision..well..and neat looking, nothing is crooked or 'that's good enough for now', lol. It is a joy watching you. This self filling water bowl is something I am going to tackle next. Thank you
Thank you for the fun and funny instructions. I made mine from some scrap laminate. Rather than routing and sanding the edges, I added laminate tape to them. That saved me from painting the wood, too. The only problem I had is that when the coke bottle is full, it is too heavy for the pipe. I solved that problem for now by only filling the bottle to 3/4. Works like a charm, now.
I wonder if you have a slightly different size bottle where you live? The other thing you could do is cut the pipe but don't remove the piece, that will give it more grip tension around the bottle.
I love it....I need something like this for my rabbit (I know you made it for cats and dogs )but It'll work for my rabbit too...thanks for sharing your idea...☺☺
Probably gonna do this as I have a few animals and keeping the bowl filled is tough sometimes. Only thing I would change is probably cutting and attacting another bottle to give some more time before having to fill it again
You can make it without having to turn it upside down - drill a hole in the side towards the bottom where you want the water level to be, use a tapered cork or other type rubber stopper, when refilling the bottle. Sit the bottle in the bowl and pull the plug. The holder is nice and would keep pets from pushing the bottle over. I made mine with a 5 gallon water jug in a shallow tub - our cats can't push that over - even when their plushy balls/toys end up in the tub!😅
Thanks very much, I accidentally put the circular saw through my left hand while making this, but the doctor is pretty confident he can reattach it, but fuck, at least my mutt dog isn't going to die of thirst ! Thanks Again
Hi. My mum is worrying about her plants when she is on holiday. Can you think of something like a self watering plant pot? Thank you for making wonderful informative videos!
Just an FYI to anyone thinking about cutting a hole in the bottom, that would destroy the vacuum effect, which is the only thing keeping the water from pouring out all over the floor.
Great ideas, lolol bit when you said only a Cpl things needed for this project bwahahaaa I almost fell out, um tablesaw , hand held saw ..multiple Sanders lolol😊 this is a project for the chic that had a handy hubby or a chic that has wood working tools laying around. Giggle. Darn it I'm neither 😂🤣😉
That's a possibility. This is not for everyone. Only you know your dog. The only thing I was going to add as an improvement was a silicone baking sheet under the bowl so it wouldn't slide on the wood. They sometimes have these sheets at the dollar store cheap.
my big dog never spills her water dish, my little maltese will purposely flip her water bowl over everytime. Thats why i am here on youtube, she is getting put on a bottle that she has to lick to get water
love this simple idea. I'm looking for a cheap and easy option to keep my cats watered while we are away for the holidays - we will have friends checking on them every few days. is there any reason why we couldn't just screw the PVC coupling onto the wall?
you videos are good but more face time would be good and more details is always helpful. I hope this helps with subscriptions and keep out the good ideas
It's all about experimenting and trying things out. That may work, but a glass bottle would not get clean in a dishwasher since the water can't get inside very well.
how on earth are we gonna have all that stuff??? I mean my step-dad is a labourour but rlly? ?? and that white thing... what is it an how do I get it??? great idea anyway
For the second one you could always cut the bottle before the gripping point ay the bottom and insert a second bottle that has its top cut off. Tape it together with some tape made for water leaks to ensure the seal between them is tight and you now have a 4l or so bottle feeder. As for tools you could probably skip all the cutting, and sanding of the wood. Use a screwdriver to to screw everything in. For the plastic part you could use a knife itll take a lot more work but its possible same with screwing it in.
If you're going to get in the game, you gotta come ready to play. And it was a radial arm saw, not a table saw, but the whole saw step was just a workshop flex anyway.
You're either joking or unaware of how it works. If you put a hole in the top, it will empty out and not hold water because you are letting atmospheric pressure enter to equalize to the outside.
Only you know whether or not your dog will paw it, bite it or tip it over. I also made a large size one too. It's heavier. May work better for you. Here it is : ua-cam.com/video/yx3ZJJ9zbQs/v-deo.html
aya, check out the water bottles for dog with a tube. There is a ball at the end of the tube so it doesnt leak out water. The dog licks the bal with his tongue and water comes out, no water bowl needed to collect dirt.

Here's my Garage! You'll find all the tools + stuff I used to make this Auto Pet Water Bowl here: www.amazon.com/shop/chrisnotap
My husband and I just made one of these today and it works GREAT!!! Thanks so much for sharing your idea and easy-to-follow instructions. :-)
Your a genius, great teacher and a true artist! Now that I've seen the basic principles of this, I can modify to use in my parrot's cage. Thank you!🌱
Remarkably simple and well done.
I seriously thought that there had to be some ballcock type valve in there somewhere!
Ingenious!
Smith
Thanks.
Chris Notap good job but could you make a simpler making one for kids
Chris Notap Can I use it for birds?
I really appreciate you taking the time to teach us this.

Thanks for that great feedback!!
I dont have a pet but somehow stuck watching these videos
Great idea. You can also make a hole in the bottom of the bottle and get a larger bowl and just place the bottle in the bowl.
I like your router table hack. 👍
Simple but effective water bowl. Thanks
Glad you like it!

0:58 the sound of the sander (sped up) was so satisfying and relaxing for some reason LOL anyway, great video! 👍
like ASMR?

I have that in my plans to do another video with 3 or 4 bottles to go longer.
@@chrisnotap cool looking forward to whenever that gets uploaded
Or you can get a large already made one at Walmart or a pet store...
@@nekosama1926 but that's no fun

I remember when I got addicted to watch this video lol
This is exactly what I was looking to do, thank you! 🤩☺️
Clean, elegant build. Lovely design and I like your finish as well.
Why did you use a hacksaw on the 4" coupler when you have a jigsaw?
I try to show people in all of my videos what you can do if you don't have power tools.
Pro tip: fill the bowl before inserting the bottle...
Pro Tip 2: cut hole in bottom of 2L bottle for easy filling.
Just an FYI to anyone thinking about cutting a hole in the bottom, that would destroy the vacuum effect, which is the only thing keeping the water from pouring out all over the floor.
Pro tip: don't bother with the cap. Two fingers works just fine (3 for very little kids) with less effort.
I enjoyed your instructions esp when it went fast motion with sound effects!😜
Thanks!
Another clever product! I have subsribed and put notification bell on...thanks so much!💯👍🇨🇦🍁
Thanks for the sub!

nice idea Chris, but a big dog would probably move the bowl and upend the bottle...
That's a possibility. This is not for everyone. Only you know your dog. The only thing I was going to add as an improvement was a silicone baking sheet under the bowl so it wouldn't slide on the wood. They sometimes have these sheets at the dollar store cheap.
Bobby Shah then you sell your dog and get a poodle silly !!😀
my big dog never spills her water dish, my little maltese will purposely flip her water bowl over everytime. Thats why i am here on youtube, she is getting put on a bottle that she has to lick to get water
Excellent
I'll be making one for the deck, my dogs are always emptying the water bowl, plus this keeps the water clean.
it wont keep the water any cleaner, the bowl will collect the dirt and the dirt remains until you clean the bowl

For sure!! Screwing it to the wall would totally work! Thinking outside the box. I like it.
you videos are good but more face time would be good and more details is always helpful. I hope this helps with subscriptions and keep out the good ideas
I love ur intro
Thanks!
Very simple. Good!
Do you have downloadable written instructions? I would really like to make this without rewinding video. thanks for a great idea
+Edith Lassich No I don't. The pause/play button is much easier.
can i use a glass bottel instead of plasic if i want to wash the bottel in diswasher to keep it ekstra clean :D
It's all about experimenting and trying things out. That may work, but a glass bottle would not get clean in a dishwasher since the water can't get inside very well.
Neat!!!!!!what kind of tool machine did you use to round the edges
I used a 1/4" rounding bit on my router.
And on the plastic I just used a sanding block
I was looking for this next and it popped out on your vids nice ,
Could you give your base, bowl and stick dimensions? Thanks
This is great! Now we just need something to clean the slime and grime out of it, every now and then.
Since these bottles are so plentiful, just swap it out.
very nice. i'll try to make one.
simply brilliant.
so sweet
Hey Guy! That really helped me with my pets. AlsoI like your videos.
Thank You. From Sissy
Does this work with any kind of container?
Yes it does!
What I would do I cut a circle in the slab of of wood that the bowls on so that the bowl can stay in place and there can be more water in the bowl
Thanks!
Thank you very much for that!!
very smart! really like are your videos.. your such a clever guy.. 2 thumbs up ;-)
Clever design!
+jandastroy Thanks!
Awesome
How long would the water last? (How long until I need to fill it again)
That all depends on your pet and how much water it consumes.
very nice job, i love u man
I should do this for my cat and dog. they go through water like crazy. Manly because the dog is still a puppy and he likes to run.
no i dont think that is the main reason, if your dog drinks a lot of water as a puppy, your dog will drink twice that when its an adult
Brilliant!
really nice job
Thanks for that!
nice cheap diy
thanks
Jesus i need a man like you
this is soo cool
How much did the materials cost bro?
how on earth are we gonna have all that stuff??? I mean my step-dad is a labourour but rlly? ?? and that white thing... what is it an how do I get it??? great idea anyway
PVC Pipe, you an find it at home depot, or places like it.
Good idea but what if someone doesnt have all that equipment...what if the pet can drink 300 ml every time...

I like ur video and invention and I made one too
AWESOME!
Super cheap. First buy a table saw. An electric hand saw. A hand saw, a vice grip. A drill w/ requisite drill bits. Sand paper and you’re good.
Zoey Zoey-Zoey A real man already owns all of that...
If you're going to get in the game, you gotta come ready to play.
And it was a radial arm saw, not a table saw, but the whole saw step was just a workshop flex anyway.
What I would add is a hole on the top with a funnel so you could fill it back up once it's out of water
You're either joking or unaware of how it works. If you put a hole in the top, it will empty out and not hold water because you are letting atmospheric pressure enter to equalize to the outside.
Can u speed up ur vid, I think I actually understood part of it !
hi
superrrr!!!
I'm having a problem with the water overflowing the pan :(
Where the opening of the bottle is determines the water level. Adjust it.
I hope my crazy dog doesnt tear this apart
Only you know whether or not your dog will paw it, bite it or tip it over. I also made a large size one too. It's heavier. May work better for you. Here it is : ua-cam.com/video/yx3ZJJ9zbQs/v-deo.html
very good, congratulations...
Se tiver vendo comentario brasileiro curte aii é otima ideia...
Could this work with a glass wine bottle?
Yes for sure.
LIKE!
I likey
💯🤝
Um, no proof that it works. I didn't see you drink out of it. Or at least your dog. :)
+TheSageDad I was going to but I had just had a cuppa tea. Thanks for commenting.

Spray the outside of the bottle black to prevent algae growth.
R.I.P headphone users 😬😵
Marlee Pinnt i dies
Make more and sell 😁
You spoil ur dog too much, i just keep the toilet door open
+saskaleb That works too!
+Chris Notap 😆 I use the same but smaller scale for my birds
Thats revolting
that can result to your dog getting very sick any one should know that I'm only 11 and I know that
saskaleb that's disgusting
Now bacteria can fill up in your pets drinking bowl.
You have to look at the pros and cons. With this, your dog won't go thirsty.
🗑
I wanna make this but since my dog will stay outside I'm afraid the water will get dirty
+aya A bit of dust from the air isn't going to hurt your dog.

Thanks
aya, check out the water bottles for dog with a tube. There is a ball at the end of the tube so it doesnt leak out water. The dog licks the bal with his tongue and water comes out, no water bowl needed to collect dirt.
