last weeks rules with no stone walls / keeps made for some INCREDIBLE games, beasty's set vs bee was possibly some of the best aoe4 I've ever seen. can't wait to see how these rules play out, I can think of several strategies that players might go for that might be really wild, but at the very least I'm sure we can expect some shorter but higher intensity games
I'm just a gold player so prepare to dismiss my opinion right away, but I like the 12 vil start. I like the way the military units having a slower time to kill slows the game do0wn to make it easier to react to the happenings in the game, but the beginning of the game is very slow and I'm not sure how much we get from that. I think that starting with 12 vils and two scouts would help you uncover the map and get to the meat of the game much faster. I'm sure it would need some rebalancing, but I think it would be better for playtimes in the long run. That would help you get a few more games in if you don't have much time to play and it would make it more entertaining to watch as well. I welcome any criticism to this opinion though. I'm a bit afraid of how strong English vil rushes or tower rushes may be though.
I love the idea, particularly because it basically skips past the very early game with super low unit count that feels a bit routine. This also happened in starcraft where the openers became so optimized that the first few minutes of *every* game you might as well just skip because it's the *EXACT* same thing you've seen 10000x before. I love that both players reach sizeable army counts much earlier and we basically skip the part where 1-2 spearmen are rallied into the enemy gold and both players, the casters, and the audiance all know that nothing is really gonna happen, vills will stab the spear down, the spear will cause a small amount of idle time by being attacked, etc.
It might not hurt to do a small buff to home defenses though. It doesn't have to be crazy, but a little more security at home will open up some other strategies if you're not worried about losing 1 fight too hard and getting overwhelmed.
id love to see an aoe4 where the first 5 mins werent so bland yeah. I too love the slower grindy fights you can get into, i like the siege positioning, i just get a bit tired of waiting 5 mins for every match to actually kick off.
Doesn’t StarCraft have static maps? AOE 4 you’re still scouting the map also in age 1 which is a huge part of the game. May not be the most exciting as a spectator l, but as a player your still making decisions on how much of the map to uncover, vs keeping an eye on what the opening is doing so you can react accordingly and how to push for map control on resources.
@@corycosta6257 the scouting in age 1 isn't a huge part of the game, it's over in a couple minutes and unless something DRAMATICALLY one sided happens, like one player delivering all their sheep to the enemy, what happens in that period is completely irrelevant. casters typically fill up the scouting period in dark age the exact same way starcraft casters would fill for time in their early game; theorycrafting what the players will do, and some light off topic conversation, until the game starts getting interesting.
This build looks clean. I know the 05:14 deer stealing is nice as it makes it that the opponent's 2nd TC is now less efficient with less deer but later on you lost a few scouts trying to get deer again is it worth it? Sure if you get the deer it is great but a lot of scouts died for it. Or just even the fact you moved it away enough to justify losing the scouts?
Game winning moves there, he forced the opponent into worse/more dangerous food sources and grinded him down with an all-inn. Remember scouts cost only food so you can consider each deer worth 3.5 scouts.
Round 2 of Golden League 2 is currently under way...this weekend and the next weekend I believe. This is for practice on that. Special rules in Round 2 is the 12 villagers instead of the usual 6.
I'm working on a similar BO (of course 6 start workers). But somehow it is still quite round. In any case, the passive food and gold income is still very strong. I'm even struggling whether I should quickly install 2 Tc or just 1. I saw this deer stealing in the Golden League against marineLord and had to copy it straight away. How could we lose sight of all the professional scouts :)I think this season the meta is shifting from Age 3/FC to Age 2/all in. So many civs are working very well there now. At least in my Dia/Plat Elo :)
Eh...I totally don't get it. Devs really could decide to give us competitive players just one version of the Age of Empires 4 OR give us 2 official game modes for this game, where one would be competitive and one more casual like team games. Mixing those modes only confuses and people instead have fun watching games, nonstop ask wtf is going on, why pros play in a different game and we can't even try or copy their strategies in the game we are playing each day.
It'll be only these 4 weeks of Golden League II, rest of the rounds and matches will be vanilla game rules (except the normal "no stone wall towers, and no stone walls till castle" that every tourney had since like month 2 of the game). It's important to note that there are a ton of viewers that don't care about which rules and just want to watch fun games, and a ton of viewers that want to learn and incorporate those lessons in their own play. So there'll be some variety to satisfy both groups. Other than that, I'll be happy once things return to vanilla rules so Beasty can practice on ladder again.
I know that it is temporary but still IMO it makes a mess for some viewers. While no walls and keeps aren't so obvious, 12 villages at the start are easy to notice and may generate questions. What's more, we can't fully connect with that what we watch because after that we won't be able to use those strategies in our, vanilla game. I would like to see some aoe4 versions everywhere or have 2 official versions for all players to keep it clear.

Absolutely unnecessary to keyboard click that wildly
Really good value out of those javs, screening for archers
You should really add a keystroke tracker to your steam some time, I have no idea what you are pressing most of the time but it sounds like a lot

I think even more important than taking the food for himself was forcing the enemy off of safe food sooner, which opened them up to raiding sooner.

And are you planning to go for the cow landmark afterwards?

Its just to practice tournament rules for Golden League II Round 2 (12 vill start)

@@michal4736 it's the same version there just playing tournament rules, which happens across many games
@@jhonhdhcb7495 Different rules =/= same version. I don't remember that e.g League of Legends had different, tournament rules, ever 🤔
