Andre Rieu is a great artist. The sad thing is that as centuries go along the artist of his kind become less and less. .....is it a crime making people laugh?? The laughter he brings is not at the expense of music but a benefit to it!!!

Uploaded on Jun 1, 2011 The Hungarian Dances (German: Ungarische Tänze) by Johannes Brahms, are a set of 21 lively dance tunes based mostly on Hungarian themes, completed in 1869. Only numbers 11, 14 and 16 are entirely original compositions. In fact, number 5 was based on the csárdás by Kéler Béla titled "Bártfai emlék" which Brahms mistakenly thought was a traditional folksong. They are among Brahms' most popular works, and were certainly the most profitable for him. Each dance has been arranged for a wide variety of instruments and ensembles. Brahms originally wrote the version for piano four-hands and later arranged the first 10 dances for solo piano. The most famous Hungarian Dance is No. 5. Brahms wrote orchestral arrangements for No. 1, No. 3 and No. 10. Other composers, including Antonín Dvořák, orchestrated the other dances. These composers were Andreas Hallén for No. 2, Paul Juon for No. 4, Martin Schmeling for Nos. 5 to 7, Hans Gál for Nos. 8 and 9, Albert Parlow for No. 11 to 16. Dvořák orchestrated the last numbers. • Category • Music • License • Standard UA-cam License • Music • "No. 6: Vivace" by Iván Fischer, Budapest Festival Orchestra, András Keller & Kálmán Balogh (iTunes)

1. Johannes Brahms had close contacts with the then Hungarian musical life. Several concerts were held in Pest, together with Eden Reményi, concert concerts and many Hungarian friends. He recorded Hungarian melodies, and he also processed them in several other works besides the well-known and popular Hungarian dance. The most played pieces of the 21 Hungarian Dances. Only numbers 11, 14 and 16 are entirely original compositions. 2. A legtöbbet játszott darabjai a 21 Magyar Táncok. Csak a 11., 14. és 16. számok teljesen eredetiek.
I am one of those who disliked classical music until I heard --and watched -Mr. Andre Rieu and his orchestra. I LOVE them all and I have watched his many performances listed on UA-cam ,over and over, as I will never be able to afford to see him in person. I would give anything to be half the musician they are. As for all the "critical" comments of "disgrace", "humorless","disrespectful" and the list goes on, my parents have taught me many things but several were "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" and "unless you can do better, be quiet". Both of these statements apply to the negative comments displayed here.
Andre Rieu is a good musician, and an even better manager and business man. What he achieved is great. The music he is playing is popular "classical", many of the pieces are for dance, he does not go into any highly artistical, but thats OK. However this Hungarian Dance parody is distasteful.

Wow, so many people crying in the comments, it's amazing. I don't know if you are Hungarian or what, but this song is not Hungarian, neither it's a song from that nation, it is INSPIRED, and I repeat, INSPIRED, by it, and the author wasn't Hungarian either, so stop claiming this as yours, this is from no one other than Johannes Brahms. Just take a look at the audience, some of them were almost crying of laughing, and they actually paid to go see the Hungarian Dances No. 5 being interpreted, so would you all stop being whiny babies when you didn't were there or paid anything to see it and you can find a million other interpretations of this song in UA-cam?
+Sighery Wolfestein Each and every Hungarian inspired classical piece is Hungarian.
