I can remember getting the leaflet to order Reflector inside the box of one of my UK Transformers when I was a kid, but I'm fairly certain that it was only applicable to US residents (I could be totally wrong though, we're talking like 35ish years ago). I think at the time I just put it down to being one of those weird anomalys, like when you'd get one of the toy catalogue inserts that featured not just the UK line, but all the US and European stuff on it you couldn't get over here (I can remember practically salivating over the pictures of stuff like Fort Max, Blaster, Gnaw and the Predacons...).
@@ToysareRuss Pretty sure I got a leaflet about one of the other mail order only set of Transformers in with a UK toy too, but I can't recall which ones. I'm like 90% sure it was the Powerdashers, but it could also have been the Omnibots...
When I was a kid, nobody had reflector. It was practically a legend we didn't quite believe. I still don't have an original but I do have the Microx which I believe was a contemporary KO of very high quality.
You had Reflector! That was a toy I really wanted! I was just not good about mailing in. Especially as a photographer (*I was into photography even as a kid*), it was a toy I really thought was cool! Such a shame he wasn't spotlighted in the comics, and only very early in the cartoon!
My friend in the UK got them as a mail away in 1988, they came out very late in the line in the UK. I remember getting the leaflet in 88 too. I don't think it ran for very long, like the 1986 Special Teams tape mail away.
@@ToysareRuss That's the only one I ever saw too. It is odd though I remember asking my friend if he still had it when I started collecting again in 1997, and he said he sold it on, but remembers when he got Reflector in 1988 he changed pounds into dollars, so maybe it was a American leaflet that got into a UK box.
I only hold the european Diaclone Ones in my hand and remember the mail in flyer that came with some G1 figures. Great Figures. Love them When i remember back, i think they used the diaclone (microman microchange) box für the mail in, but with a neutral or only text design.
absolutely love this set.. I had to settle for the KO but it's a well constructed one, no issues. Fantastic little Transformers, all 3 of them. I'm also looking forward to the re-release of the siege 3 pack in these colours.
Totally agree. you can get the seige pack from robot recruits bud. I’ve done 2 videos of it in here. one in a video by itself and then another comparing it with the original. just type refractor in to the search bar
@@ToysareRuss yes I’ve pre-ordered the 3 pack, really looking forward to it. I’ll watch the videos after I’ve had it as not to spoil the surprise, thanks thou 😎
Always liked this model, but probably like everyone else in the UK, I don't remember it being available and I'm the person who managed to get a Sixshot as a kid not that it means a lot on the Reflector question lol! I remember seeing a set at a toy fair, but it wasn't like the one in your vid? I think it must have been the Takara version as I'm sure it was like a normal 85-86 Decepticon box with a window displaying all 3 bots? But was still way to much for what I could afford back then lol. Managed to pick up a loose Hasbro one eventually. Really liked it in camera mode and even though on most I prefer bot mode, if I had the space for display I would go for the camera mode all day long!
as you say pal, I’m pretty much sure we never had this at all over here. I do love it though. if it had artwork on the box it definitely is the takara version. that’s next on my list
As you profess your fondness for Reflector so often, are you looking for the Takara boxed version? Seems quite rare but you'd have the artwork to show off, which we know you are also a fan of.
@@ToysareRuss Yea-actually as a kid, I thought it would be cool if there was a mini-robot (like the cassettes) that was a minion of Reflector's (although Reflector himself (themselves?) were just minions. I mean, Starscream just called the space bridge guinea pig "Warrior" and the only time they appeared in the comics, they were just repairmen lackeys
Like I said before, I'm much more into the comics than the toys now (by the way, did you see the toy photostory series that I shared with you? You never mentioned it, so I'm not sure), but I still have fond memories of playing TF with my friend Brian. I think I told you that he had mostly Gobots, so we always combined the two worlds
I used to have these. I’d love to go back in time and tell younger me to put these in the attic for older me later lol
if only we knew then what we know now. me too I’d have ordered about 20 of them!!

in the UK I never saw one until I was an adult. it’s such a clever toy.
Great review Toys are Russ!!!! Reflector is my favorite Decepticon from the 1984 line. Keep on being amazing.
he’s just so cool. such a brilliant design
@@ToysareRuss It is brilliant. Definitely the best of the few Transformers that have cameras for an alt mode.
Reflector was a season 1 and appeared only in the pilot mini series
He’s still one of my favourite figures and characters

I always wanted a Reflector toy. A kid at school had this and I thought it was a bootleg.. Lol

yes I am definitely after that version. you’re correct the artwork on it is fantastic

Do you have 2 of every TF? I notice that usually you have the robot and the vehicle next to it
very nearly yes. just a couple missing mainly due to space. but I have some figures with up to 8 different versions of the same one
