No doubt the diamond DA 62 is a nice plane. That said it’s not a true 1300 nautical mile plane given the fact it does not have a lavatory. (Distance is directly proportional to your bladder, and that of your passengers) Also, its maximum speed was established at 14,000 feet which means you are on oxygen, since the plane is not pressurized. A better value would be range and speed at an altitude of 8000 to 9500 feet. Finally the 1280 nautical mile range was established at 16,000 feet with 50% power. Again you’re on oxygen the entire time . Like any other aircraft specifications, the Devil is in the detail. The DA 62 would make a nice short range option, but for $2 million I would want something pressurized such as the piper M350
The Diamond DA62 reigns supreme because they invest so much money in this type of marketing. For the specs, the DA62 is extremely overpriced. There are more videos on Diamond products than any other aircraft manufacturer.
I own a DA62 and believe you also need to factor in safety, efficiency, ease of flying and curb appeal. It is amazing on a single engine and as a twin, I feel better crossing mountains and large bodies of water in it versus having a having a parachute :).
