I'm from Bodhgaya.. even though I'm Hindu but from childhood I always appreciated buddhist philosophy, every year I see kalchakra Mela, Thankyou NetGeo for covering this.🙏
Once almost 75% of Asia were Buddhists. Almost every Indians were Hindus before the mass genocide of Buddhists by the Muslim and Hindu extremists .There were only few Hindus in Indian sub - continent before the invasion of Brahminism. Learn your history brother and contain knowledge

You don't see actual reality of India. Most Indians are Hindus and they are very oppressive towards Buddhists. Buddhists have been Oppressed by the Hindus since Shakyamuni Buddha's time. Buddha spoke against the Brahminism, caste discrimination, gender discrimination and animal sacrifice in Hinduism since then most Hindu Brahmins have been against Shakyamuni. Even now, most of the Buddhists sites are run by the Hindu Brahmins such as BodhGaya , Sarnath and they collect enormous revenue from the Buddhist pilgrims from around the world. They want to handover Buddhist pilgrimages to Buddhists.
What you saw in India isn't transparent. It is just make belief in foreigners and tourists eyes. Also Shakyamuni Buddha as a 9th avatar of Hindu god vishnu is fabricated story by the clever Brahmins. Shakyamuni himself said he is not god or any form of god in Dona sutta Angutara Nikaya

According to a Tibetan monk, there are several sacred Buddhist Sites in Bharat that should be better maintained by the local community in collaboration with the Indian Cultural Commission.
The monk and his group of pilgrims have shared their journey with us via UA-cam.
"Kalchakra" does indeed mean "cycle of time" in English. In Tibetan, it is translated as "dus kyi khorlo." During the Kalachakra practice, participants aim to purify their body, speech, and mind, and aspire to become one with the deity or the manifesting Buddha associated with the Kalachakra. This practice involves various rituals and meditative techniques to cultivate spiritual transformation and enlightenment.
It's not a Tibet word. It's a Sanskrit word.

I really appreciate Buddhist people who come far away from their home to worship in Bodhgaya in Bihar. However Tibetan people are living in India and Nepal so they dont face much difficulties in coming to Bodhgaya like many Buddhist people come from Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, etc. Even many Buddhist countries has made their own Temples in Bodhgaya.
There are very few Hotels and Lodges in Bodhgaya as if now but hope so in coming year One Big lodge with all the Hotel facilities is going to come soon in Bodhgaya since Bihar Govt has approved.

I had the most amazing time in Bodhgaya during Kalachakra of 2017. I enjoyed the tea and the bread they gave out throughout the day. And of course the presence of HH Dalai Lama truly felt blissful. I don’t think there will ever be such convention ever in Bodhgaya; so magical and blessed.

This year prayer will start on December 20th 2023, it’s not Kalachakra but it’s a big prayer. His holiness the Dalai Lama will visit there at bodh Gaya for prayers. My parent will be there. Some influencer might wonder how does it look like, just go experience the feeling if you are already in India, it’s just wow feeling. All bhudhism will be there and pray for all living sentient beings.

No place is any more or less auspicious. Wherever your mind is, that is where Buddhadhamma is.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama recently said that Bodh Gaya is more auspicious than other places, and that prayers there will be more affective due to the proximity to this very holy place. You can watch him say this in his recent video where he visits Bodh Gaya, at 4 minutes in. To say Bodh Gaya isn't more auspicious than other places is to disagree with His Holiness, just to let you know in case you follow him and accept him as an authority.
@@AverageBuddhist88 The Dalai Lama is not the “pope” of Buddhists. Most Buddhists do not pray. Pray to whom? The Buddha? Material objects have zero “magic” or “holiness”. Read your suttas.
@@wordscapes5690 Read the end of my comment. I said "in case you follow His Holiness or see him as an authority. I didn't mean in general to all Buddhists. I meant in case you were a Tibetan Buddhist. Also, most Buddhists do actually pray. The biggest branch of Buddhism is Pure Land mainly due to China having the largest population of Buddhists, and most of them being Pure Land. Also in Japan and Korea everyone prays. And yes, we do pray to Lord Buddha, in the Lotus Sutra He clearly tells us he is immortal and still exists in a transcendent form today (he attained the state of deathlessness, and overcame birth and death, so how can he die??) There are of course also Bodhisattvas like Avalokitesvara and Manjusri. The earliest Mahayana sutras are actually as old as the Pali suttas. I know you lot always love the narrative of Mahayana coming later, but the first sutras were very early and historians believe some sutras were orally being passed down for centuries, exactly like the Pali suttas. One example of this is the 8,000 Lined Prajnaparamita Sutra. It was written decades before the Pali Canon, and it's ideas can be traced even back to the 2nd Buddhist Council, and that's not even the earliest possible. That's just what evidence has pointed to so far. I recommend you to do more research into the Mahayana sutras.

Commonality, not innovation, determines authenticity. Deity worship strays from that commonality. By all means pray. No problem. But if you are going to insist that prayers are profitable - evidence is required. Namo Buddhaya.

Your Theravada narrative that everything in Mahayana is fake and came later even though we have scriptures written before yours?? I have proof, it is taught in the Pure Land Sutras. And let me guess, "later scriptures", yeah, by a few decades. If you are saying they are unreliable because they were written a few decades after the Pali Canon, then surely the Pali Canon is also unreliable as it was written a few decades after the 8000 Lined Prajnaparamita Sutra. Also, some sutras, like the Lotus Sutra, were supernatural revelations. But wait, don't Theravada have entire works of Abhidharma that they believe were revealed supernaturally by the devas taught by Lord Buddha when he transcended to their realm to teach his mother?? So Theravada have supernatural revelation, and then constantly attack Mahayana for having supernatural revelations? Really? What hypocrisy.
