Really like this interview.. That's the POWER of the internet because being an American I didn't have access to this interview at that time. Thanks for sharing this!! :-)
Interviewer is John Roberts. Later at CBS news, CNN and then Fox. He was originally a DJ in Toronto then jumped to MuchMusic (Canadian MTV type TV station) then he went into news & public affairs on CTV Canada AM before leaving for the big time in New York.
Its funny how Michael looks more comfortable and has alot to say in this interview, makes Debbi look the quiet one lol 2:14 is so funny haha let Michael speak Vicki!
It was a joke about the Thompson Twins not singing "live" during their (Thompson Twins) concerts. The Thompson Twins were Milli Vanilli, before Milli Vanilli were Milli Vanilli.
They like the GoGo's accomplished what no other female groups had done before- go to number one with original music they created & performed as musicians. TWICE! Rock n roll hall of fame are u listening??
I saw them at the Greek Theater in 89 at 17. I was in love with this band. And honestly thought they went vocally out of tune or amplification seemed tinny (right word?) a few times lol. But I LOVED EVERY MINUTE!! And waiting for my dad at a nearby gas station, my BFF and I saw someone drive off with a gas nozzle still in the tank. Yanked it off. 😝😂 Ah memories. Memorable crazy mistakes everywhere. Hehe.
I thought that was him! He covers Trump White House on Fox News Channel now...Thanks for letting me know...I was about to ask this group that...or search internet...
I love when bands do interview while out touring (especially early morning like here) because you catch them a bit delirious and likely to say silly things, or acknowledge real truths like Susanna saying at 3:30 "we don't have any perspective at all, whatsoever".... it goes to show how much a grind tour life is. Oh and Susanna will you marry me?
She said they were never together I always wondered about the drug thing..they seem to be the only band in history that never did them..I`mm sure they were around it but you never hear anything about them drinking alot or using coke unlike the go gos who were party animals and just about everyone else in music..I always got the impression they were kinda unique about that. I always loved them especially Michael but they were commercial which may be why she left
@@mercemercedesperez9136 I did notice that Suzanne and her did do that a lot, but I think that they were the leaders of that band, but still, they should not be interrupting so much.

mistersaul, You're obviously are not paying any attention to anything they're saying. They're all answering the question asked of them by the dumb-assed, d-bag interviewer.
Hey, I know this interview is from a long time ago, but here's a pro tip for other camera operators who may be as untalented as whoever filmed this: try keeping the camera on the person answering the question and NOT on the people NOT answering the question. Also, once the interviewer asks the question, don't leave the camera on him, as he listens to the answer. Nobody cares.
...And drugs? Hardly. I remember running into Sue around 2003, and of a mutual acquaintance, she said, "Wasn't he [romantically liked with] Courtney Love?"... and immediately assuming he had AIDS LOL... But by the time of this show, they were far too busy, exhausted & most importantly, conscious of maintaining their near-skeletal figures to indulge in a sandwich, much less alcohol (especially Susanna, who ate about 250 calories a day).

Miki is so pretty
Especially when her hair was relatively tamed, as it was here (but wasn't often for the rest of the '80s).
Man, his hair. Reminds me so much of the 80s & 90s
I think J.D. would like to forget that phase of his life!
The Bangles was a perfect music group.
We like it rough.

That's truly funny. Thanks for that.
ikr. And I thought I was just imagining it, she did say it. She likes it rough 😜.
What did Michael mean at 2:28 by learning their tricks from The Thompson Twins that made Vicki react like that?
It was a joke about the Thompson Twins not singing "live" during their (Thompson Twins) concerts.
The Thompson Twins were Milli Vanilli, before Milli Vanilli were Milli Vanilli.

Interviewer JD Roberts would go on to work for CBS News & CNN years later
Michael is the only one who doesn't say anything when the host asks about being around in 20 years. I am aware that I'm reading too much into that. >_
