Fabricated stories to hide your trust fund is wild.
Surprised this was not a UMU comment LMAO. Dudes got a hard for Rudy.
That AI thumbnail is wild too
People blowing this conman is astonishing.
Meet The Rudy
As a former tech at a Ford dealership, I can confirm EVERYTHING he said is true. There is no way he knows that much about the trade and hasn't participated in it in some way.
Totally want to see video of the car!
Me too, been watching Alpha for 5 years, never once did I realize Rudy was a car guy too
Honestly sounds like his HS car is a Suzuki Samurai
@@luciangray3791 those are called Suzuki Jimney's where I'm from haha had to look that one up!
Sometimes when I’m home alone I like to coat myself in glue and Magic 30th anniversary black lotus proxies and slide around on the kitchen floor pretending I’m Rudy from Alpha Investments
But are you wearing a taco costume?
Glad I’m not the only one 😮💨
I bought a pink visor to pretend im Rudy when i buy Stocks or do my research.
We don't do that in Yu-Gi-Oh
Lol
As a former Diesel Technician myself i would love a high school car and tools video. I think more people would relate to that content than you think.
RUDY CAR RUDY CAR!!! Also toools. Yes yes yes feed the trolls om nom.
He has to show it.
I will not be able to die in peace without knowing what it is.
This was honestly one of my favorite videos. Pretty awesome of you to share some seriously personal shit. Real life.
Yes, let's see the car and tools!
Rudy I subscribe for your personality, stories & perspective. I encourage you to make more of these
I am a technician in Canada and its handled so much different for new techs. For a new tech to become a "automotive technician" You have to go through apprenticeship. That means you have to work at some shop/dealer for 7200 hours and 4 levels of schooling to EVEN get a chance to be a real tech! Schooling is "free" and your getting paid at your work AND when you go to school during this whole process. Now once you have done all this, you know of all the BS and junk you will happen to you IF you choose to be a tech. In Canada its called getting your "Red Seal" making you a full blown automotive technician. Now that being said, if your a smart cookie you stayed at a dealer and learnt the product well so you can make money on piece work.
Thats exactly what i did. I have played the Automotive Technician game too long. I have trained soo many apprentices i have lost count. Am i mythic god tier status...yes.
BUT!
I am just waiting for some one to please....PLEASE Doom Blade my Platinum Angel. I would like the game to end while im on top but if no one will do the job, ill Doom Blade myself and end the game.
What a story. Please do more of these Rudy! Gives me hope.
My Brother is a Mechanic and he is kind enough to let me keep booster boxes in his gun safes. God Bless Rudy and America!!🎉
guns with lubricants offgassing is not the best choice for plastic wrapped boxes, just sayin.
Sell a box or two and buy a gun safe from Costco.
Fuck the Alpha Icy Manipulators. Show us the whip.
Show us the Tool.
SHOW. THE. WHIP.
I hope it's an EVO 7
I bet it’s a lancer or a Mitsubishi eclipse lol
@@HYLAN It's a Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T (I'm assuming second gen) if I recall correctly from the old Q&A videos. Would love to see it in a video.
as being someone who is an automotive technician, I'd be happy to see your old car and tools, but I have never been broke as a mechanic, but I have all the ASE certs. Also, that's the bad part of working at a dealership, you tend to make a lot less money versus someone who works for like midas and places of that such.
Rudy. As a magic/car guy I’d love to see your car and tool collection. I drive a 1991 Honda civic. Yours can’t be that embarrassing. Love the channel.
same!! 91 civic si
Rudy has a faded green 1992 Toyota Tercel
Rocking an LS swapped 93 S10! Love my 90's shitboxes
@@justind1180 Mines an si too. Gonna b swap it soon.
Show the car Rudy! Missing my high school ride.. 96' Civic EX that I swapped from Auto to 5 spd manual for funsies my senior year.
Rudy! Appreciate the Harbor Freight shoutout! Been a long time listener and worked at Harbor Freight for 13 years! You just provided me the hobby and work crossover I didn’t know I needed! ❤
One of my favorite UA-cam videos is an logger/contractor in the pacific northwest going through all his different tools in his workshop. You should do something similar.
Thanks for sharing! Anxiety is no joke.
#RudysTools #RudysCar
As a car guy, who still wastes his time on the DSM Projects, I need these Videos from you lol.
as a mechanic of the last 7-8 years and someone who has been playing magic the gathering since they were 9, I would love to see rudys tools and cars!!
I just came off an anxiety shitstorm myself. This was a fun video. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing. We are all humans at the end of the day, trying to live our lives the best we can. I really enjoyed this as much as MTG
Thanks for sharing Rudy
Thanks for talking to us from a new perspective.
Of all people to be spewing technician gospel , Rudy ? Wow ,as a tech myself, new level of respect unlocked !
As someone that currently works on the service side of a Chrysler dealership, this video made me smile. Would love to see your tool collection.
Ive watched nearly every video since 2018 but this was my favorite. Thank you for sharing Rudy.
So glad for videos like these Rudy you are a special person in the UA-cam mtg space and I appreciate you more than you know
It's called Record of Agarest War-The Really Naughty Version limited edition. You knew what that was Rudy.
Really need to see the car and tool collection now. I'm imagining an Acura NSX but it's probably actually a Civic SI.
I also thought civic.
Guessing Integra type S
I'm always shocked to hear the stories about automotive techs in the US. I'm a BMW Tech myself here in Germany for almost 20 years now. I started my apprenticeship back in 2001 but in Germany the dealer pays for school and you also get a fixed payment. Also the tools are owned by the shop and you use their stuff. Payment is normally fixed per hour and some dealers pay bonuses if you are faster then the times given by the manufacturer.
Definitely would love to see your car :)
This was a great video. It’s very nice to get insight in what helped form who your are now.
Been waiting on this episode!
You know Rudy got a 1964 Plymouth Barracuda all decked out with sealed beta boxes in the trunk hidden somewhere
I totally understand. I went to Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in like 2008. STRUGGLED my skinny white a$$ off for a decade, then switched careers. Being a mechanic isn't worth it in most scenarios...Unless you're just doing it on the side, Run your own gig, or fall into a specialty field.
Rudy definitely has a "Baby Reindeer" arc in his life we have yet to be told. I can't wait to hear about the STAN who he bought taco bell for everyday for a few months and shared his toilet paper with as they sat side by side in stalls relieving themselves from the hot sauce tacos they shared like lady and the tramp.
now I gotta see Rudy's clapped out 96 Civic hatch....... former Chrysler tech here too. recalls are worse than warranty these days
Trained as a mechanic and tech, did too many years of college so BMW wouldn't hire me because and i quote " you would be too difficult to mold into our way or working"
i was 21
Very quickly worked for a friend, then my father helped fund me to run a small garage myself. That was some work experience i tell you!😳
You learn fast or you fail.
Maaan tools are a killer, i was warned that for the first few years i wouldn't technically make any money due to expenses.
Be your own boss if you can, do something you're passionate about. Its hard and stressful but it's yours.
Let’s see the Rudy-mobile!!!!
I want to see a side project where Rudy rebuilds a classic car as an investment
Thanks for sharing Rudy. Your Awesome!
My guess is an Eclipse! (But agreed, the first 3-4 F&F movies shaped our love for tuner cars! Now I drive a Silverado lol
Appreciate you sharing this story Rudy!
Damn. He scamazed the dealership to pay his tuition.... he started so young *tear*.
It is important to understand that your successful car repair career is still MUCH MORE LIKELY to be the case than your successful MTG card hoarding career. Rudy is a Unicorn!
That dread feeling is real. I had a cooperate America cubical job and it started affecting physically. I had to get out. I worked the job I hated and started my own business and worked that. That was enough motivation to do this for over a year. I quit the job and now full time at my own business. Never been happier even tho I don’t make as much money. The cooperate money isn’t worth it.
So he’s describing warranty pay versus customer pay. It varies by manufacturer but some pay well, some pay terrible. Typically, domestic brands demolish times for the techs. It’s a very effed up system because the dealership doesn’t have any recourse to fight the OEM. A good warranty administrator helps
Though. So when you bring your brand new car in with a thousand miles on it and a laundry list of bullcrap complaints that scream “my payment is too high and I’m trying to get it bought back”… remember, you’re hurting a real hard working tech.
Love ya Rudy. Good for you getting out. Still plotting my way out… but I worked all the way up to an executive level in a dealer group so… really not terrible. But I still want financial freedom. I don’t want to report to anyone. Great work man.
I feel you Rudy i know the dread from a bad job,it is important to share these video it is good for you and us,thank you, i hope for more if you want
I've been watching since 2016. Love Rudy, but never knew he had a thing for cars back in the day. I'd love to see the car
rudy im going through that now. Ive only lasted 1 month at a VW dealer here. I was doing 3 or 4 PODS seat recalls a day for a week. Took 3 to 4 hours to do, warranty paid 1hour.
Also get this i had to do a multipoint inspection, record a video to send to customer, wait on parts to give me said part and had to return old part and get paper stamped. Had to go find this car in the parking lot and test drive it.
Also make sure i logged the recall in the website and actually do the recall itself.
Paid 1 hour. Also had to buy the tools to do the recall. Heatgun, pair of cutters/dykes, tool for seat leather rings, sockets and impact gun to remove the seat.
Had to remove seat from the car weighed around 40 pounds.
I work in the parts department of a dealership, and looking at how badly techs get screwed on hours, and how advisors have to deal with customers who spent 50k on a car that almost immediately needs warranty work, I'm very glad I only work with parts. We get paid commission based off of the monthly department profits. Much less crap to deal with than the other departments.
Don't even get me started on those scummy sales guys.
Rudy, what you had was a burn-out.
It sucks balls, but you did what I should've done when I felt the same symptoms and "soldiered on", like an idiot...
Previous broke mechanic here as well. Parents own a transmission shop so always worked there. Family business is extremely hard. I found happiness when changing careers. People think WOTC is dirty. Just wait until the tool truck rolls up. 😭😭😭
Crazy how I had the same exact experience when I was fresh out of high school and being an auto tech. Experience burned me so hard that I honestly don't like cars anymore.
As a car enthusiast and card collector, I appreciated this video. 💜
Show the ride! I know exactly what kind of guy you were in that era. Kids today don't even own cars anymore but they idolize the 90s-00s era
We must see not only the tools but the cars too! Don't tease our collective taco like that!
Love it when you share about your past. I actually had the same tale, barely scraped high school because of motivation. Got into cars, mainly because I read initial D, but the first 3 F&F movies really made it for me too. Every F&F movie after that was complete trash. I got my technician grade as well and got into that life deep, leaving cards behind for a while but then realized I only enjoyed driving my car or working on my own car and not fixing other’s people cars. Very similar stories.
I can relate heavily to the closing part of the video myself a couple of years ago. Thanks for sharing Rudy
I find that your story can be inspiring to a lot of people.
Not everyone does that, I mean those who are called/perceived as "evil investors" usually don't speak about their past and if they do they'll only speak about their successes, instead of showing their weak spots and/or mistakes.
You're a good sensitive boy after all and I think that those that put u down through life do that because they can sense u have something they lack. 🤷🤦
Bruhhh, that Record of Agarest War collector's edition is wild XD. It comes with an Oppai mouse pad.
You absolutely have to show the tools and car now! My guess is the car is a riced out Oldsmobile Alero lol.
My favorite content on this channel.
My brother-in-law would be so confused by the convergence of our disparate interests. Please make the tools and HS car videos.
There is some interesting automotive interest overlap. I bet you might be surprised how many people would like to see your car and tools. I would for sure.
Really enjoying this series Rudy, can't wait for the next one.
Shout out to being open to talk about mental health. Sometimes the world gets you down and you have to make a change, scary as it may be. Good for you. Also, show us the car!
i did dealership work for about 2 years before i finally said F THIS!! i moved over to fleet and diesel it was the best decision ever i only work on ambulances and firetrucks. i get guaranteed hours and bonus for flag over 40. but the tools are the worst part about this trade. u could easily spend 30k on tools from a tool truck. luckily i own all my own tools now.
Rudy show us the goods! We need to see the car and the tools! The thumbnail is awesome btw
Young Rudy looks kinda like young guts from berserk
I was homeless for 4 months working at tire les shaub 4000 miles from my family Other side of the country broke and in debt, now making roughly 80 a hour doing what I originally left for out getting compaction and lines out of asphalt for 80 and hour making 4k a week more the working at a tire shop making less then a weeks pay a whole month there
When Rudy describes his tool collection "6 point 12 point sockets shallow holo impact stuff air tools [...] snap on matte coat" it sounds like he's describing all the new variants of every Magic card available these days.
Was a tech for a family owned auto shop for about 2 years. No ase certs but I did have state certifications for brakes, front ends etc… I can totally relate to getting paid so little but you have to put a lot into it. Especially with having cars as a passion is terrible, (my first car I got when I was 13 was a 1985 foxbody mustang😎) absolutely killed my love for the game and now I do construction and still have my foxbody😂👍
Master tech here, been in the business for 10 years and own a business. Hard work pays off, but it's hard boys
My first deck was the Barrage Planescape deck. Invasion through Fifth Dawn was totally my jam! LOVED those sets, even though most of them were terrible
Played a lot around Ravnica and Time Spiral, too
Also the pay structure reminds me of how health insurance payments work. Eg, how much the end user pays depends on how well the insurer negotiates and takes the cut vs the hospitals etc
Show us the car!! Enjoy going back to the future with Rudy. Stories of how you got to where you are is the best content
Used to be a mechanic. Left the industry cuz its so corrupt and sucked to work on customer cars. Left the industry and went into teaching. Doesent make insane money but I love what I do. Still love wrenching on my bikes. Wanna see the car! That would be so cool!
Game at the start is record of agarest war, despite the very nsfw edition it is a pretty solid tactic rpg
I know I’m late, but this is a cool vid. I’d love to hear a continuation, how you got to the point of starting a business around mtg
I want him to do a flash back episode to his generator, and show him feeding the foils he pocketed in mass box openings to it for fuel.
Yes show us the tools!
I worked as a technician for 15 years. I have around 100k in tools. I could probably sell them now for 5k
Rudy you are an inspiration
The way you felt at the dealership with the anxiety and everything is EXACTLY how I felt after I started my new job. But after seeing a therapist, getting on the right medication, and having my boss tell me to give more credit to myself, I began to love my job. It's led to me finally getting my first car that I know is reliable, and it's allowed me do do things that I thought were pipe dreams not even two years ago.
We always climb tough mountains in our lives. But once we reach the top, the view is breathtaking.
Yes! Show us the tools- also, I’m 95% sure you had a Honda…
that jawline...your mewmaxxing game was on point back then
11:09 I spent $5,000 on a pico oscilloscope my job is supposed to have but they won't buy it.
this tool has allowed me to diagnose complex problems for my personal mobile mechanic business.
but in total my tools are prob worth 100k
most exploitive industry.
nothing worse than dealing with some broke public folks too
Listen I remember you talking about your b18. Can't hide anything from me honda boy!
I would like to see tools and car please Rudy!!!!
Thanks for sharing a story man , Ive had a similar feeling in 2019 , left my job after almost 11years and started to work in agriculture, planting trees ( mostly in UK and Scotland ) .
Greetings from Iceland folks !
Dude im so ready to see RUDYS EVO 7!
I worked for a big car parts store chain for 10 years, and got my ASE Certification as a Parts Specialist lol. It's about to save me $900 in charges from a mechanic on my current vehicle that's just hit 100k miles, just because I know what I'm doing. I had an '88 Accord I wanted to get running, but the 100 miles of vacuum tubing all dry rotting under the hood was too much for me to handle. Now I sell cards
Off topic but- sometimes the light hits Rudy's thinning hair just right, and you can actually enjoy the pleasure of seeing just how big and round his head really is. Can't help but wonder when you'll finally let that beautiful bastard shine & be free Rudy! I'll be looking forward to that day!
Though you may be unaware, the days of pneumatic tools are long past. Everything is cordless and electric now
I love Legions. It was around the time I started playing. I wish I had some sealed of it now.
You should do more life coaching and financial advice videos. For example, I personally made terrible choices after high school, and I ended up in heavy student loan debt with a useless bachelor's degree (English). The situation was crippling enough that I ended up pursuing a master's degree in computer science many years later in a desperate attempt to combat the debt. I have zero interest in computer science, but I really could not think of a better idea, since becoming a doctor, lawyer, or pharmacist would have required additional debt and an even more serious commitment. (Typing stuff is easy). I'm struggling a lot in my 30's though. I know this isn't a genuine interest of mine, nor do I want IT to be associated with my 'identity,' but I need to survive...
Rudy: mechanic was a plot twist in the lore I was not expecting.
Do what you want man, I'd love to see it though. 😂
car mechanics can easy transition in to a fitter role in power stations working on turbines making 5k a week
I’m approaching 40 & I spent most of my life working retail for the same grocery company making peanuts it seems. I moved back home when I was 30-31 and I don’t know where those years went. Sometimes I feel like giving up. I have a record now and physical/mental health issues. Good to hear a success story Rudy ❤
We’ve all been there brother. But you have something many do not. Fortitude. Drive. You’re the man. Don’t sweat it. Look at you now!
Im a dealership tech, made 130k last year as a dirty greasy POS car mechanic 🤣
That is really good. Still wouldn't trade my IT job for it 😀
Is there going to be a part 2? I want to hear how you climbed out of this hole of anxiety and despair
