@Dr. Robert Neville I would want to research where all of the kids ended up and try to make a story about that... But I'm wary about making a derivative film off of this one.
OMG. I WAS IN THIS MOVIE AS A CHILD!!! I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIND IT FOR YEARS AND DID A RANDOM SEARCH. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!! I'm the small child behind Pharoah at 7:17. The amazing thing was they used my family a great deal for extra work and as stand-ins for the real actors. (I stood in for Norman Golden, My dad for Keith David, and my grandmother & cousin were extras.)
Wow....the memories of seeing this as a kid. I was 8 when this premiered. One of the many real films from the 90s. "It's not where you live, it's how you live." RIP Maya Angelou.
I grew up in Springfield, Missouri, but for 19 years, I lived in Chicago. I worked for the Y for 5 years within spitting distance of the ABLA housing projects. The scenes portrayed in There Are No Children Here are familiar to me. I felt for these kids, and I worked as a database specialist for YMCA Child Welfare (near ABLA) trying my best to place foster kids, most of them black, in loving homes. I pray they can find a way out of the environments in which they feel trapped.
thank you for uploading this movie!!! I wish Oprah would replay this on her channel and it would be great for BET to do it also . It is so needed today!!
I remember when this movie came out. I was in the 5th grade plus 10 years old. Also I remember I had just moved from Chicago to Milwaukee several months before this movie came.
Wow, this brings a smile to my face. I shared a few classes with Mark in high school. He was this cute tiny lil kid that always had us laughing . I remember , the whole school knew the movie was coming on the Friday before the Sunday it aired. When we all came back the following Monday, the whole school was chanting " Go Laffy! Go Laffy! " lol . Aitchpe C/O 97 misses you.....R.I.P.
@@PRINCESSROCKYT Awww! I only recently found out about his death. Watching clips of the movie makes me sad as an adult. I gotta find a DVD or UA-cam so I can show my kids. Im glad you have those awesome memories and his peers appreciated his talent as we all did.

The colors and the way they were banging there hats are all fucked up just made up for the movie. Henry horner had vicelords stones and GDs. Black and gold are vice lord colors black and red are stone colors and black and blue. Though colors aren't as big a thing like in LA or something. Lords and stones are people and wear their shut to the left and GDs are folks and to the right. Plus with lords you had Imperial insanes Travelers and four corners hustlers as the different factions. The gangs were seperated by buildings each building in Henry Horner had a gang affiliated with it controlling most of it by this point in the 80s. The names and shit they use in the movie aren't the real ones. This was the project right by the United Center and Chicago Stadium.
The truce is over! Then gets back into his limousine and his nice home and plays with people's lives on his phone. These top dudes are cowards. They ain't killing nobody they ain't getting their hands dirty. They let the young guys do it then let them die. It's awful.
Marshan Thomas last movie I’ve seen him in, as an adult, i think, is waterboy wit Adam Sandler. But now im typing, idk if it was dis kid, but D’Angelo frm The Wire. Not sure tbh
This brought me to tears I finally found this movie after 30 yrs last time I went Chicago I was 9 I've lost so many cousins up there from the south to the westside this shhh today is crazy
I remember watching this movie back in the day...I thought the guy who played Lafayette was the most Handsome guy I had ever seen...I was so sad to learn that he was killed back in 2001...
Bruh been trying to remember the name of this movie for 20+ yrs!!! I’ll always remember the scene when the lil kid comes out with the gun and shoots Dog man. Crazy.
man, i had no idea what this movie was called. I would describe it to people and they wouldn't know what i was talking about. Then I went to IMDB to find out what ever happened to that horrible kid actor from cop and a half and i saw he was in this. I knew this was the movie i've been looking for for so long.
This is definitely a classic movie 🎥 .... I was in 3rd grade when I seen it ...... my mom made my sisters and I watch it lol 😂 but I still watch it today #wewillsurvivecovid19

Wow! This is a gem! Thank you so much for posting this movie. I have been trying to locate this movie for a few months. I actually knew the person who played the part of Laffyette, but he passed away. This movie touches my heart.
Got damnit Oprah re-release this movie in a better quality version on Netflix or OWN or something. This is a classic!
@Dr. Robert Neville This movie is based on a book about a real family so it'd be interesting to see where they all went.

Yo to had survived the projects in Chicago in the 80's and early 90's. We need more documentation. This is one of the only gems. The rest are books.
