Yeah that's what turned me off from it. Put a damn sapphire crystal on if you're gonna make a watch over $400. Hell, there are homages worth $200 with sapphire crystals
I appreciate the unmistakable Blancpain Fifty Fathoms vibe to the bezel, but less sure about the fake rivets on the bracelet - think of how the Tudor BB58 suffered. The acrylic crystal and bezel rather disappointing considering the price IMO.
Such a great watch - cant wait for it to be delivered! I love the warmth an acrylic crystal brings, and the clarity (when unscratched) is awesome. Sapphire would be more hardwearing true, but either is better than mineral. The SW300 is what drew me to the watch, but the style and attention to detail are what reeled me in!
Great choice 👍 Congratulations 🥳 if they release a no date I'll definitely consider. I wouldn't pay attention to the Naysayers there obviously novices .
Nice review Chris, but I have to agree with others...no sapphire a big letdown at this price range. It isn't a dealbreaker but it could easily sway some buyers elsewhere.
I know people like the esthetics of acrylic but I'm more tool oriented and don't want my watches to be scratched and would prefer sapphire on everything. seiko crystal is the only one I'd prefer
Thanks for the review Chris. They use a SELLITA SW300 which cost around $100 more compared to the average price of the SW200, but nothing I can see justifies the price. I'd sooner take a ZELOS with any of the movements they use from the NH35, Miyota 9000, ETA or LJP. I paid $1,199.00 for my VITESSE using the La Joux Perret L100 Bi-compax with column wheel. It has a sapphire sandwich and a brand new custom bracelet with quick adjust clasp. Something else they offer is top-notch customer service.
@@mikep5478 I’m so tired of cheapskate jacks talking about how much they paid for watches and what a deal. So if the watch was 500 more or 1000 more. You’d hate it? You only like it because of the price? Get over yourself. The same watch for 1200 or 900 or 1700 doesn’t change if it’s good or if one can enjoy it. I think you have a pea brain. And are following marketing terms and buzzwords movement manufacturers names and blah blah. Good job mike p.
That's one watch. If you're like most people, if you have the funds you will probably take a shot at other watches that you find attractive, and not just am getting this movement or that movement. As long you're not over paying a 1000 dollars over what you think something is worth. Well I might not know what I'm talking about, because people pay 2 to 3,000$ dollars over and buy other watches just to get a Rolex. In the end they pay over 10 to 15,000 more than what the watch originally cost. Why? Because they want what they want.
I like the piece because of its unique characteristics and overall rugged look , I’ve had my eye since it was first released but held off. I can see reasons for buying one but for me personally even though the Monta does not have the same vibe at all , it’s a polished all around look in many ways not to mention one of the best built bracelets in the game does it for me. Both high end Microbrand’s that I feel will only gather steam over time but it’s a tough market to break into with high expectations when spending that kind of money.
The date ruins the appearance of the watch. Like the 12 marker, and the circle markers. A little nicer dial material would be nice. Delete the date, do a sapphire chrystal, and an exhibition case back and it would be a really cool watch.
A Fifty Fathoms homage a best microbrand diver?High end?It doesnt look much better than 350$ Octopus Kraken, wouldnt be surprised if theyre from the same factory..🤔
$1199 or $1799 for the cosc opens up a lot of watches in that price point. Also, is that magnifier 2.5X? Looks less, which really bugs me for some reason lol. If you're going to add a cyclops, do it right I feel. Great review as always Chris!
I like it. I guess they are hoping more people like it than hate it. Considering it's basically in the same style as most dive watches that resemble a sub, I'm pretty sure more people will like it more than hate it, or come somewhere in the middle.
No sapphire is cheeky, lovely looking piece considering its printed
That price range has a lot of competition. I think the best thing going for micro brands are the price to quality ratio.
1200 USD for a Microbrand without sapphire? 😳
Yeah that's what turned me off from it. Put a damn sapphire crystal on if you're gonna make a watch over $400. Hell, there are homages worth $200 with sapphire crystals
@Harry Balls exactly
@Harry Balls I can’t stop laughing at the name.
Looks better the way it is .
Agreed. Garbage and cheap for them to do that. Without sapphire, I wouldn't pay more than 700
They didn't spare any expense?? So acrylic is now more expensive than sapphire or ceramic? Who knew? Gimme a break...
Been waiting for this! Got my Typsim with the silver glided a month ago. The honeymoon continueS!

Was about to comment that you would be pretty happy with the price you got it for on the stream!

Exactly, I don’t buy watches without sapphire crystal because mineral gets scuffed within the first month of wearing the watch.
@@markjafari7648 acrylic can be polished, it isn't mineral glass. Still I agree to both your points, at this price I'd only go with sapphire.
Blue print on the date is a great touch. Definitely a lot of thought went into this one.
the watch is beautiful and well equipped, but no sapphire glass...in this price range.
I know people like the esthetics of acrylic but I'm more tool oriented and don't want my watches to be scratched and would prefer sapphire on everything. seiko crystal is the only one I'd prefer
Nice looking piece. Quality looks great. Movement is a step up as indicated by price.
Don't want to take anything away from Ming , but the Typsim is a superior watch in every way .
Thanks for the review Chris.

No one cares at all guy.
@@LE-xt7is I couldn't care less that you say no one cares. My money cares.

The Ming is 1000m? 3300 feet?
not ZELOS, HEIMDALLR or HELM ?
Sounds like a sales pitch. States “ acrylic “ likes it is a plus. Name sucks, I liked the other watch though.
Great review, though I think it is overpriced without sapphire crystal.

This is definitely one expensive fifty fathoms homage. Would appreciate more with original design. Personally I won't spend that money for a homage.

No Date ... Would look great but as you know I'm a big Fifty Fathoms
this is a winner 👍
All the Naysayers are obviously novices 🤗
You never mentioned the name of the watch you were wearing ?

I like everything about it , except the price , I could live with the lack of sapphire, put a 9 series miyota in it half the price and it would fly.
Why 1200? Why not 1700? Why not 999?
Not a buyer for the price they are asking. Also, it does not belong in the same picture with a Ming.
People get so caught up in price and ‘value’. Bottom line this watch is ugly as dog shit

Sounds like paid promotion from social network influencers. Definitely doesn't sound justified price or fair and unbiased review .
