X-ray Filters (Physical Beam Filtration)

The motivation behind physical filters in X-ray and CT imaging including the minimum recommended filtration of:
Mammography 0.5mm Al
Dental: 1.5mm Al
General Radiography: 2.5 mm Al
Computed Tomography: 3.0 mm Al

What about the combination of Al and Cu? Why is it always Cu + Al and not the other way around? Nowadays there is only Cu Al combination in the newest X-ray machines and they removed the only-Al option. After which kV 0.2 Cu and when 0.1 Cu? Should be a good add on for this video. And what about filtration with babies / children? 😊

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3347728/ show Cu is more efficient for removing the low energy x-rays and . ICRP Publication 121 does not recommend use of additional beam filtration in neonates and very small infants due to the low kVp used.
