That sounds like a king, doesn't it? But, the moment Bradley expressed casual interest in stepping away from this position and letting someone else take the seat, Pride essentially told him what amounts to that Bradley is not _allowed_ to make that choice. His job is his job and he's going to do it whether he wants to or not. Bradley does not believe in kings because no matter who you are, there will always be somebody above you pulling the strings.
Your problem is that your bird is happy. They're quite emotionally complex for their size, so abuse could be a solution. Though be warned; the avian humanoids also known as angels will NOT forgive you.
