They actually rearranged it. Considering that the original was just stock music with some added stuff, I'm geniunely surprised. And it's mag-fricking-nificent.
Game composers today should learn to rearrange these stuff like he did, so they won't waste any money on reusing those type of stock music over and over and over again.
Gulp’s Overlook was my absolute favourite track. I was around 10 yrs old and would repeatedly fight Gulp just so I could listen to that soundtrack. I’m 31 now and couldn’t be happier with this remake. This is still my absolute favourite track from all the Spyro OSTs.

Hi! I tried Spyro the dragon for the first time in the reignited trilogy and yeah the bosses were pathetic! I was actually super happy to see bosses that are that difficult, I still haven’t played Spyro 3 but I can say that “Gulp’s overlook” is the best boss battle I’ve ever played in a platformer!

Literally HOURS left for a remaster I've been waiting for, for over a DECADE This is my favourite track of Spyro 2 and I had to spoil myself slightly to see if they did this track justice and.... oh my god did they deliver!!!
I always loved that in Spyro 2/3 they somehow mixed horrifying tunes with blood-boiling ones so you're in awe and ready to kick ass at the same time and it freaking works. And Reignited turned it up to 11
You can tell they wanted to really make this track excellent considering the average player would likely be stuck battling Gulp for a while so they figured give them an excellent composition to enjoy and leviate some of the stress (Honestly the boss tracks in Spyro 2 are all phenomenal).
If John Mancell has any plans to rearrange the music for the first 3 games, especially the stock music that were inserted in the cutscenes, that would be spectacular!
I love the slower part starting at 1:24 If it included the "main melody" bit from 0:48 (also slowed for the new tempo) at 1:57 it would have been perfect.
Gulp doesn't have much in the way of competition at all given that all of Spyro 1's bosses were jokes and Spike got nerfed into the ground for the Reignited trilogy.
Getting the perfect skill point for this level had to be the hardest thing in the entire remaster. Also kudos to them for getting me to not switch to the original music here !

My only real gripe with this fight is that Gulp's animations didn't have the weight that the original did. It felt like every lunge forward or every movement of the body, head and shoulders had immense power behind it. His bellowing at the pterosaurs felt ominous and primordial. Now Gulp has a chubbiness to his movements instead of the juggernaut motions of old. Everything else, including the difficulty spike, was absolutely excellent though.

Gulp was, in my opinion, a really tough boss compared to Crush and Ripto I haven't played Spyro 3 yet, but so far, Gulp takes the cake for toughest boss I've faced (that doesn't run away from you, I'm looking at you Gnasty and the Key Thieves)

Now, if they actually took the time to FINISH it before remastering it, that would be an entirely new thing. For instance, Apparently Moneybags was supposed to make numerous appearances, before FINALLY getting over his Gem obsession and returning everything he swindled from Spyro. ... He would then admit to seeking fold now.
They should have used the actual sample. Ive been watching old South Park lately and they use the sample from this a couple times and they use the same sample as the first couple seconds of fireworks factory multiple times per episode. I get a kick out of stuff like this. Or the fact that all sorts of businesses (and South Park, too, actually) use the font Lithograph, which is the HUD/Portal font from the original trilogy. Now they're avoiding stuff like this, but it's more annoying than anything. It cheapens the experience.

The original soundtracks were already CD quality or very near so. Even the few that were noticeably compressed have been found uncompressed on demo and beta disks - and that's assuming neither Activision nor Stewart Copeland have access to the original masters, which they probably do.
@@ErdrickHero he meant arranged.. But yeah no one pretty much wants the actual reused sample theme, it won't be fit to the style of this game their "updated orchestral" nature to modern games now. I think legacy music is an option here though in case ppl do prefer the original songs...

I only played spyro 1 on ps1 and I bought Reignited recently. I must admit, this was the only level in Spyro 2 that was really difficult for me.
That was me.
I figured his attack pattern out eventually, but until I did, Gulp was definitely the hardest boss I had faced in a long time.

Awesome OST for a ridiculously difficult boss, I swear the original Gulp fight was easier.
It was. They greatly increased his turn speed, and made his lightning attack much more accurate. Probably the hardest Reignited boss in my opinion.

They made Spike a lot easier in the Reignited Trilogy, too. It's like they switched the difficulty between the two bosses.

I've only played through the first game of Reignited, but I think Peace Keepers and Ice Cavern surpass their original tracks, too.
Buzz's Dungeon is definitely better than the original, at least to me. It sounds so much more menacing and intimidating

I'm not gonna lie, Gulp is one of the hardest 2nd boss I did. Both on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. At least it took me 10-15 tries to beat him

The rapid fire snare drum that plays when Spyro is charging head first combines with this so well!

Here's something I noticed : Gulp won't start the fight as long as you don't move. Make the slightest movement though, and *IT'S FLATTENIN' TIME*
Most of the Spyro 2/3 bosses don't move until you do.
