Top tip for beginners: You lose all equipment after prolog. Before putting 3rd instrument put all backpack content in blue safe in the house. Get stuff from blue safe after prolog. So you have nice starting equipment. Happy hunting, stalkers!

You can drink Vodka to purge some radiation.
Anti rads remove even more radiation.
I think medkits also remove a very slight amount of radiation.
If you use artifacts that give a benefit but also rad+ counter them with minus radiation artifacts otherwise rads will slowly increase over time.
Without any source of radiation, it will also very slowly reduce on its own.
In general, buckshot is cheap and meant to be used against mutants and low-armored stalkers only.
Slugs are against humans.

Stalker is the best post-apocalyptic game ever. The logic, world, atmosphere, story, dialogs, action, mutants. Everything is top. I was playing the old stalker a long time ago and I remember all the excitement. Enjoy brother

Subtitles. English subtitles. Playing with English subtext would be a bizarre experience....unless the power station was a representation of the monarchy, and the brain scorcher was the establishment media like the BBC and the Daily Mail.
Anomalies could be various pop-cultural movements that trick people into following dead end ideas like punk and new age shit, before leaving them a brain damaged husk with nothing left to believe in.
And the various gangs were maybe, like....working class people all fighting each other in search of a revelation of freedom that would forever remain beyond their grasp....
I don't know, I'm just throwing a few ideas against the wall to see if anything sticks....

Actually, as an American I would prefer Ukrainian dialogue with English subtitles. From what I've heard the dialogue sounds like native California USA, which is an absolute immersion sucker for me!

I assume you didn't play the old stalker? To find artefact u need to hold the detector in hand otherwise you will not see the artefact.
To be fair, the detector wasn't a thing in the first game, it was added in the addons and never made it to Shadow of Chernobyl.

The amount of braindeads in the chat and comment section complaining about the graphics not knowing what video compression is lol. And then mad their years old GPU can't run a demanding modern title. Runs just fine on my RTX 3080. It's not maxed out but to get above 100fps some compromises were made and it still looks great. No doubt a performance patch is on the way to make the game run better.
if u cant 1 hit headshot some npc maybe he use high tier helm or you need to use higher tier bullet, some high tier armor can even withstand full mag of 9mm in pointblank range (i assume it still same like the old stalker game)

Been watching a couple of streamers play this game and they all, so far, bar those that exclusively play single player games, miss lockers, shelves and routes to attic or roof access, loot anxiety is killing me😂
First of all, we should understand that you can't shoot and kill everything in Stalker. For example, you can't kill Anomaly like moving lightning balls. It has its own logic you must avoid it and that's it. You are doing quite good chef for a first timer. Have a good experience.
Just try to understand games logic. Also, if you observe, you can see that the first bullet in the shotgun is red. It is for you to know when the last bullet was shot. ❤

Of course....if it looked perfect with great performance, it wouldn't be STALKER.
Slavic magic isn't about smoothness and technological excellence, it's about the unique experience of atmosphere and narrative that only appear with just the right amount of jank, and just the right amount of idiosyncrasies.
It's like owning a Lada Niva; it's objectively a terrible car but, for some reason, you end up loving it.
Plus, the modding community is huge for this series. Someone will patch it up within days of release.
And you can pirate it and no one will give a shit, because that's how things work over there.
Embrace the chaos! And the frame rate drops, and the screen tearing, and the huge crashes which fuck up your printer driver for some unknown reason

No game is perfect, but some of them are, at least, honestly flawed.
People who like STALKER, like it despite the issues. People who love it, love it because of them.
I've already seen enough to know that, yet again, the A-life is stuttering. The weapon balance is...weird.
But, yet again, there is this indefinable something which draws you in. It's a vibe a mood, a feeling....all of those stupid phrases which don't adequately explain it, like explaining a dream to a stranger.
I guess it's just strange how we all define ourselves though the imperfect things we love; black metal, punk, Asian horror films, 1980's Volkswagens etc etc.
And yet, with games, there is a core of fuckers who want perfectly produced pop-music, Marvel films and Toyota hatchbacks....stuff which doesn't break but also has absolutely no soul. These people, if asked to pick a number between 1 and 10, will always pick 5.
The fact they will criticise anyone who picks 6 really pisses me off.

i'm playing on xbox series s and, until now, i had no crashes, but there's a little camera bug that makes the camera slowly moves to any side that you pushed you analogic, even tho you stopped moving it. beside this bug, i found no other until now.
