Bolt handle is also a safety. Receiver have smaller hole in front of the handle slot. If you twist it 90° you can't cock the gun and it also lets you know gun is safe since you can't see through sights. That is very clever safety to prevent unwanted discharge if gun falls on the buttstock.

Springfield xd is called HS in croatia( probably a branding thing) . HS used to be IM metal.
Alka is a compettition event in town called Sinj. And only men born in Sinj can participate and it consists of riding a horse with a lance and trying to "catch" a suspended metal wire target onto the lance while riding a horse. The men born in Sinj part can have some STRANGE consequences like wifes traveling to give birth in Sinj rather then the nearest hospital ( even if it is a 3 hours drive) or not leaving Sinj when carrying a son

@Lurch7861 +P is a SAAMI specification and I've never had any issues with firing them out of a Glock 19. Pretty sure it handles +P+ decently well too but no point going to too high of pressures in a simple blowback weapon. I've done around 6 grains of Unique with 115 gr FMJ bullets and while I couldn't tell you the chamber pressure they certainly seem pretty hot though no signs of excessive pressure on the casings. Can't recall the muzzle velocity off the top of my head but want to say with that hot of a load it was over 1200 fps. I don't shoot much these days but think my more normal plinking load was like 5.3 or 5.5 gr.

You know it's kinda funny how in MGSV: The Phantom Pain they made up a fictional smg called the Sz-336 that's meant to be a mix between a Mac and a vz. 61, and it looks almost exactly like this. Considering this is on forgotten weapons I'm assuming it wasn't intentional lol

Uncharted 4 has a machine pistol that is a mix of Scorpion and Micro Uzi.
I always thought it was a bad design choice.
But I guess there are real world examples that aren't far off.
Don't even get me started on MGSV gun design. I hated how the series went from actual gun designs to the fictional mishmash guns that V has.

@Lurch7861 I mean I could believe that as well. I'm also aware that the model 93 is not relatively new, not quite 50+ years but eh. Though it does seem strange that they would choose to put it in TTP when it takes place in 1984 and the model 93 wasn't designed until 1991, then again the Metal Gear series isn't exactly a pillar of realistic depictions or historical accuracy. I find it to be just as interesting either way really.

Bit more info for the name, Alka comes from a 308 year old knight competition originating from town of Sinj (thus, Sinjska Alka), in which competitors must hit a hollow circle with their spear while riding on a horseback, where a more precise hit scores more points.
The town of Sinj played a major role in our fight to repel the invaders, and thus it is really not suprising somebody named a gun after it ;)
P.S : some footage of Alka if you are interested

Sinjska alka is a very famous Croatian knights game, and it is still ongoing. The manifestation is held every year in august, and it has been ongoing for over 300 years now, I think it was even held every single year without exception since it started in early 18th century. It comemorates the 1715 victory of 700 Croatian defenders from Sinj who managed to succesfully defend the city against an army of 60 000 Turks.

Even traditional square tubing has a weld seam, it's just done mechanically. If you're trying to make a telescoping device it's often in the way (on the inside) and you have to remove it.
This looks like a hand welded "tube" rather than commercial square tubing, though.
Even most round tubing is a sheet around a mandrel then welded. This makes Electronically Resistance Welded (ERW) tubing. To get something without an obvious seam it's then Drawn Over Mandrel at which point the seam isn't in the way, and the cold working increases strength. Maybe this is done with square tube as well, I don't know, but that's what you would usually use to build a roll cage.

The Yugoslavia had a doctrine of people's defense and partisan warfare in case of an invasion. Alongside the YPA as a federal army, there was TO or Territorial Defense, which was organized on Republic level and TO equipment was considered not a federal but republic property. YPA disarmed the TO of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The operation failed in Slovenia, probably because the Slovenia was ethnically homogenous and it's TO was unified organization across entire republic.

I'm so glad that you are in my country Ian. Welcome to Croatia 🇭🇷 . Fun fact - this gun is named by Sinjska Alka .The Sinjska Alka is a chivalric tournament that takes place annually, as it has since the 1715. in my hometown Sinj. It commemorates a Croatian-Venetian victory in the Ottoman-Venetian war on August 14, 1715 in which the local Christian population of around 700 Croats in cooperation with a smaller number of Venetians managed to defend Sinj against 60,000 Ottoman soldiers. In 2010, the Alka was inscribed in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists.
If you ever again come to Croatia, visit Sinj and Alka museum where is a lot of forgotten weapons from that period.

Only Croatian made SMG which I have ever handled and shooted, was Zagi M-91. It was during my first tour at Bih as a peacekeeper from Finnish contingent. I was acting Liaison Officer with Weapon Inspection and CIMIC tasks. Managing director from one particular local industrial plant have called us to "confiscate" gatekeeper's PDW. And it was Zagi M-91. We willingly "confiscated" that. Back in our Camp, I examined that SMG lil' closer and to my eyes it had lot of common with STENs. So, after couple of days, me and driver/BG had opportunity to go and shoot with that. Well, it was pretty easy to handle, even it was lil' bit cumbersome by design. The rate of fire was quite slow, like STEN. After shooting session We were wondering What to with Zagi. We usually destroyed confiscated weapons torching them with gas welder. Have done that couple of Zastava M72s and M59/66s. But with Zagi We decided to deactivate that and put it in display to our all ranks mess. Our Camp Commander gave us green light. We deactivated that by welding/filling the chamber and grinding of the bolt's striking face. I also wrote document for deactivation of that gun (for Finnish Authorities). And We put that gun inside wooden display box. Funny thing, that Zagi never hung on wall in our all ranks mess. Because We were ordered to move our Task Force's main base in Tuzla. Our base was in Doboj. So We decided then, that my Driver/BG can keep it, because his tour was ending soon. He never had any problems with that deactivated Zagi, when driving through Europe, from Bosnia to Finland.
