Response: What could have Pink done? If Spinel would have been returned she would die, as at the time if gems served no purpose they would get shattered. I just hope there's an AU Episode or Series someday based closer on the rl Toy Bunny Story Sugar told where Pink took responsibility and eventually came back after a (too long) hiatus and got her. And had to deal with the consequences. I would rather Spinel obviously just went with her, but well...that would've not fit with the rl story and not have had all them feels either.

Rebecca tried to make her annoying to give Pink a somewhat weak excuse for it. But it obviously didn't stick.
I looked at it from the older diamond's view. Spinel was made to be Pink's play made. But as gems are made for a purpose they aren't supposed to change.
Spinel would and should always be playful and childish. Pink wanted to fulfill the place of a diamond. They no longer lined up in what she wanted. So she simply left her were she was supposed to be. Like a toy in a toy box.
