This was really helpful, although I followed each step correctly and did everything he said it keeps redirecting me to bing if anyone has any other helpful tips to hopefully help me solve this issue please let me know.
This happened to me. I was forced to go into MS-DOS and find several suspicious small files. A couple could be removed with the ATTRIB file command. Several could not, using every sub-command for ATTRIB. I have no idea why this is even possible. BUT, I was able to chang file names and extension names with the REN command. After 15 files were renamed I was able to exit DOS and restart my computer. THEN, I could go thru all the steps described here and get Google Chrome working again. My ESET firewall started to work again. Other items were recovered. All this happened because my phone and my laptops were lynked with WhatsApp. The virus went behind ESET firewall, thru my telephone. I believe the target was my Google Chrome password file. That file has been hacked by thieves for banks, credit cards, stock accounts, and etc. These types of breakins are called Trojan Horse Viruses.
Nothing's working, I tried the things in this video and it worked for one day. Non of my anti-viruses are saying theres anything from google chrome says theres nothing wrong and the default search engines are all on google chrome. Hell there ain't even an option to switch it to Bing because I removed it. All of that stuff worked for about one day then it stopped working. Edit: Might I add that this problem does NOT show up in incognito mode.
@@PrototypeDev The only two ways I have managed to get around it so far is use Microsoft Edge (Which I'm not used to and it has ads) or Incognito mode on google Chrome. My antivirus has found 2 suspicious files however I can't delete them. So basically, no I have not found a fix.
I have tried everything. It's at the point where people are telling me to go into the registry. The last time I did that I fried my old computer. One problem seems to be the "Google doc" extension, it stops redirecting after I remove it. But the problem is it seems to be a real Google extension as it keeps coming back after you restart Google Chrome, it's either a bug with Google itself or a virus that's sticking onto the Google doc extension, mind you nothing shows up as a virus so I can't find a real solution. The only solution right now is to remove the extension everytime you restart Chrome or just don't shut down your pc and let it sleep like I do with all my tabs still up, hence not allowing the Google doc extension to reload in. *Update* After reinstalling Google Chrome it fixed the issue, idk if it's a permanent fix but my theory is it's probably some sneaky program or "virus" that windows tried to pull to make you use bing because if it was a virus from extension or website it would've been remove when I resetted Google Chrome, but only unistalling it worked so it might be something to do with a sneaky settings on windows or Microsoft, not entirely sure.
