Through the countless love stories and family relationships throughout the show's run, the heart of the show has always been the strong bond and friendship between Otis and Eric and I'm happy that their final scene together was them playing smash bros. It was very fitting and it just felt right. And although the ending to the show is a mixed bag of highs and lows, at least they did justice to the more crucial and the, ultimately, core part of the show.
Despite the show being primarily about romantic and sexual relationships, Eric and Otis have arguably the best dynamic. To paraphrase Phoebe Buffay, "Love Interests come and go, but this is for life."
Preach, they had fleeting scenes together in Season 3 as well, since much of Eric's storyline was focused on his relationship with Adam, and Otis' on Maeve and becoming an older brother.
What do u mean they had screen time just like everyone else imo I think they got the screen time that they deserved and plus they had other people on the show the whole episodes couldn't be resolved around just them
Otis & Eric's friendship is one of my most favorite friendships in the history of television! I believe that these two are platonic soulmates! I'm quite sad that the show has ended.
I found it refreshing that they didn't make Eric secretly have a crush on his straight best friend, since that trope is so overplayed, in my opinion. It's a pity that they didn't have a lot of screentime together during the last two seasons.
Same, I love this friendship. Otis’s face when Eric arrived at the hospital gets me in the feels every time😢. I loved that the guys resolved things, even if they didn’t get a lot of screen time it was still a good ending for them.
Agreed they showed a platonic friendship between a gay man and a straight man without playing that trope and I fully appreciate the writer's for doing this.
Their friendship really articulates the ups and downs of what BFF's have been through since they've known each other from childhood... The changes while growing up, getting a bit distant because you're discovering your own individual selfs, yet you still love each other and want the best for one another no matter what... Your childhood bff's are a special bond like family and nothing can break that
Otis and Eric’s friendship is arguably the pulse and heartbeat of this show. The scenes they have with one another are some of the best in the entire series. Their friendship is one of the best in television and one of my favourites ever. I’ll miss them both!
Definitely one of the best and most authentic friendships portrayed by actors. The dynamics and dialogues between the two are so relatable in both funny and serious moments. Absolutely going to miss this duo.
The best thing about their relationship is that despite they had problems and differences they both worked it out. And their dynamic is so fun to watch
It only makes sense to introduce all of these newbies if your original plans were to carry them through into a 5th season; I'm guessing this plan unravelled as they realised a ton of their main cast were ready to move on. Mix this in with your entire directing/writing team being re-hashed for some reason (?) for your final season that wasn't supposed to be a final season, and we get this mess as a result. They've also separated Otis & Maeve artificially since Season2 and could never recapture the S1 magic, though I'm convinced this is because the writers were consistently trying to prove that they could write other interesting ideas that were not just a 'romantic ship', but let's be honest, that's why most people watch the show. It's also why S4 sits at a 38% user rating on RT, even though S3 had its problems and the discourse was frustration surrounding the writing, it's still a universally loved season and that's evidenced by the ratings. Such a shame.
Even though they didn't get a lot of scenes in this last season I'm glad that they kept this friendship intact in the end cuz I would have f****** burned down the writers room
7:38 This was the best part of the Eric Effiong being Eric Effiong the whole series, except the part where he shouted on the man for asking to use the vending machine when Otis was crying because of his mum
Eric is the best character and by far the best gay character on tv. He never bullied or made someone feel bad and he was always kind and cheerful without being the typical silly gay.
The core couple: Otis and Maeve The core friendship: Otis and Eric Eric was always Otis's voice of reason about all of these things he doesn't understand (like social dating etiquette). When Otis and Eric aren't happy, no one is. I just love when a friendship can just be in a drama (even a comedy drama like this one) without a love triangle. They were just each other's unflinching and unending support. That vending machine scene in season 3 was my "if I had to pick a scene that defines the entire relationship" scene for them.
The actors are all so adorable and bring alive a most lively teenage TV show ❤ all of them are acting like real high school student with their own characteristic and own life. Love the vibe of this show so much ! So funny and informative with lots of touch the heart moment. Explore sex in multiple dimension and aspects. Bringing up topics and issues that teenagers are facing. 👍🏻 My favourite show lately. It’s like the high school musical of this decade.🎉
Is it just me or is Eric a super amazing supportive friend to Otis and Otis is never there for Eric... please prove me wrong cause it makes me sad haha
I agree but I think it's a writers problem because Otis has shown he is quite emotionally intelligent with others but himself so when in s4 he ignore eric conversation then says he feels unheard from Otis, Otis says the same thing on purpose or something Otis would never do that he never did that in s1 and s2 and alittle in s3 but I'm happy they resolved their conflict but I don't think they should have never been in that conflict in the first place
I agree. Also the end of season 4, Otis says he’s lost a lot of people and “I couldn’t survive if I lost you”. As though he wouldn’t be upset if he lost Eric’s friendship alone if it weren’t for all the other people he had lost along the way too… I definitely think Eric is a better friend overall than Otis, though would agree it was more evenly displayed in seasons 1 + 2.
No in season 1 he surprised Eric by purchasing tickets for his birthday as their tradition he even dressed up to support him and in season 2 he feels Eric shouldn't be with Adam because he bullied him earlier but eventually he wanted his friend to be safe and happy when he buys something from the shop Adam was working,he told Adam if he hurt Eric otis will messed him up and in season 3 he supports their relationship with Adam and in season 4 otis encourages adam to be pastor he would be natural.
Season 4 is a let down unfortunately....Otis, Eric and Maeve and even Amy, Ruby and Adam seem like guest stars on the show. Very little character development compared to the earlier seasons.
I think most of our time in teenage time is like that it makes us relatable emotional and in the end with proper care and affection your friends will not go anywhere that's what I like about them they are good people trying to be better in their relationship
@@akshaykumar3167this show really should have ended in season 3. All they needed to do was creating more episodes back then and to conclude the series. They dragged this show way too long.
Im rewatching season 1 to 3 again because Season 4 was definitely my least favorite out of all the seasons. Too many new LGBT characters that overshadowed the main characters from season 1 to 3. Also felt like the main characters didnt fullly reach their full development and they were seem coerced The ending seems like it wasnt an ending for me. I wished Maeve should've just stayed with Otis...or Otis shouldve gone to America with Maeve🤔🤔 .writers thought there was still another season coming out.. also there wasnt much of Otis and Maeve screentime🥲 Whatchu guys think?

There the heart of the show and yet during the final season they bearly got any screentime

Yeah I was disappointed too
What do u mean they had screen time just like everyone else imo I think they got the screen time that they deserved and plus they had other people on the show the whole episodes couldn't be resolved around just them
Yeah it's almost like the season was about the idea of close friends growing apart as they get older...

Can say so for Maeve and Aimee as well ❤

the friendships of sex education will always have a special place in my heart fr. eric and otis, aimee and maeve & jackson and viv
Adam and ola too, sad she wasn't there for this season
Jackson and Viv were so good. Adam and Ola too. I missed Ola in the last season, she was great

Tbh I almost cried when Otis said he couldn’t survive if he lost Eric, that shows he doesn’t want to lose his best friend
Gonna miss this show so much , thanks cast and team for such an incredible show.
7:42 top five most Nigerian moments Eric had on the show
Was no where near that moment in the video and instantly knew it was Eric laughing at Otis' "that's nice" comment 😂😂
Best scene is when otis and eric walk up the stairs while singing going all the way 💖💖💖
Pretty sure we would've got more Eric and Otis and also Maeve and Otis screentime if it wasn't for the new characters hijacking the entire show.
Truths

the S4 was the final season i believe@@sammartin350
Exactly they were so irrelevant throughout the entire season
Real. The new characters were so aggravating.
My favourite scenes are when otis talks with eric in stereotypical african accent. Their friendship is golden.
They are the heart of the show! ❤
It's sad we got lesser of them in the last one!
one of my favourite duo’s ever 😭
Out of all the relationships on the show, this is the one I was worried about the most. I'm so glad they ended up the way they did 😁
Even though they didn't get a lot of scenes in this last season I'm glad that they kept this friendship intact in the end cuz I would have f****** burned down the writers room
I'm gonna miss their friendship so much 😭
The best teen duo on netflix, i rlly enjoy their friendship😂
Oh my God Nscuti, is going to be an amazing Dr Who. ! !
love Otis and Eric's friendship. ..
Otis and Eric are my favorite characters in this tv show I love the friendship between them 🩷💜💛
Eric & Oatcake are the cutest ❤
Why is no one talking about how much Otis has regressed? And yes, it hurts 😢😭😭
7:38 This was the best part of the Eric Effiong being Eric Effiong the whole series, except the part where he shouted on the man for asking to use the vending machine when Otis was crying because of his mum
I wish their talk at the end of s4 would have been deeper and not just "sorry" "it's ok" "yay we're besties again"
Sometimes it’s just like that
NON-SENSE! crack me ups everytime 🤣💀
Eric is the best character and by far the best gay character on tv. He never bullied or made someone feel bad and he was always kind and cheerful without being the typical silly gay.
He literally cheated on Adam with some random ass guy at a nightclub.
Watching as much Eric content as possible to prepare for Ncuti Gatwa's run in Doctor Who. He's going to be brilliant!
They just loyal and supporting each others.. Kind like friend i need😅

I like how the only time we see Otis loosen up is with Eric and Ruby 🤭
He was with Eric and Maeve crying showing his feelings and vulnerability to them.
Season 4 is a let down unfortunately....Otis, Eric and Maeve and even Amy, Ruby and Adam seem like guest stars on the show. Very little character development compared to the earlier seasons.
Eric and Otis (BFFFFFFFFFFFF) ❤❤❤
I just seen Final season every episode 1 hour up 😂
i love them too much
one of the best things in the show is Otis and Eric’s friendship, I hated what they did to them in S4 even though they rekindle ..
I can see a potential Master in the new series
im so annoyed they barely got screentime together this last season, so many iconic moments lost!
Disappointing ending
7:40 most nigerian laugh ever
Dynamic duo!
Im gonna miss this show
1:05 lmaoaoaoaoao
Fan since 2019
I love there friendship so much
Icl I really hated Erics new friends in season 4 for driving him and Otis apart
I love them both.
Crazy how Eric gets mad at Otis in season 1 about abandoning him for Maeve. Then in season 4 Eric does the same thing to Otis
there's so much nuance you're ignoring in that argument
Maybe because Eric got mugged then assaulted. Otis also abandoned everyone once Maeve came to town again.
He didn’t abandon Otis, Otis suggested it himself..?
@@FatalFramer13no he told him not completely supporting him to come instead he told if u don't come means it's fine

I hate last season, they add a lot for new character but add so less for otis eric, otis maeve, and don't forget about adam.
Exquisite!
EP 1: We are so friends
EP 3-4: Fuck you
EP 8: I'm sorry, come here buddy

Todo ❤❤❤❤
For once they left them as friends, and not Eric fancying Otis or some shit
Omg... they did hook up.. I knew it
❤
😂
Lmao umm no
they barely talked in s4 :(
I think it's because the actor who plays Eric gets the role of playing doctor who that's why his scenes are all contained
