- Do you have moonshine whiskey? I only sing about it. Chet recorded this instrumentally for his 1964 release "Guitar Country". It was also the first time, the Superlick was recorded.

First time I've ever heard Richard sing......I love it! Why don't you sing more? Is it just because you're not the best vocalist in the world? Guess you'll just have to settle for being the very best guitar player who ever lived😂😂😂This guy should be selling out Shea Stadium and playing Carnegie Hall........how can anyone this good not be more famous than any musician?
This guy shredded this song. Love to see it. Love this song
This video should be played 24/7 in time square, ive had the instumental version of this for years and to hear it played just the same but with lyrics literally fills my heart with joy, you set a standard never to be surpassed,
Holy shit! Imagine what he could do on an electric guitar?!
BRAVO Richard, Standing ovation. WOW...
blew the lid off that kettle. Ridiculously good!
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah!
Excellent guitarist, can't wait for ur next collab with TE
Thanks! Fun tune to play.
blows me away. everything you do just blows me away.
Gotta love that Superlick - funny thing is its probably the easiest part of this piece, all it takes is locking yourself in a room for four day playing the same thing over and over again until your head explodes. The rest takes that, plus listening to bluegrass for 25 years!
Richard I first saw you in the video with Chet and Paul when you were 11. Glad to see you took your gift and continue to share. You really are the greatest guitarist I have ever seen. You are amazing!!
More reasons why I should give up trying to be a good player. Talent beyond reason!
Showing your stunning skills there, Richard.
difficult to think of a word to describe this...
incredible.
He does an instrumental version with the Richard smith trio it needs to be heard by all. Look up Richard smith trio-the copper kettle
Such a nice listen. I'll say that, to me, at about one minute in - the guitar solo took over, and the playing itself spoke "Copper Kettle" all by itself. This was great . . . and most passionate. And I so love this classic tune. This version took it to a new level. Thanks!
Thanks for making it really hard for me to practice guitar today.. You're a true master right up there with Tommy Emmanuel!
@Regaljester75 The first tune on our first album! Very Memorable and a special tune for me for that reason. Thanks
WOW - fabulous guitar licks!!!
Mercy!
Excellent Richard.
that's some quality playing, thanks for the good music.
Wow! Richard, this is the most amazing version of this song that I've heard! Thanks for being out there playing, you are truly an inspiration (I don't know whether to practice more or quit- either way, I've realized that I will never make into your league).
Richard you have won me over cool work
I had some moonshine in of all places PR! It was very strong! I think I left some of the enamel off my teeth there! LOL Nice tune!
Richard, I first heard this on your Trio CD - bought by mail order (from your dad, I think) years ago and still one of my favourite instrumental albums.
Unusual talent and great job Richard!
@08freewilly80 Thanks. We still play it on occasion.
Amazing playing...much respect...Great job : )
You sure make that guitar sing. very nice.
Your awesome man.
awesome playing. please come to norway richard smith!!!
@guitarpromoter Guitar promoter! Yo.That's what I like to hear. Thanks for checking it out!
Your German is (almost) perfect, Richard. Awesome playing!
Martin
@lawsongeek I'll get it up sometime soon....it's the same lick from Jerry Reed's version of "John Henry" from Nashville Underground. Hard to play slow!! I'll practice it slowly and get it right though!!
Outstanding player... Any tabs?
Why bother?
@BoeckmannLudwig Ha! Right
Richard, I saw you perform in Seattle a couple of years ago @ Egan's and that was still the best performance on guitar that I have ever seen. You have since become a major influence for me. I just finished learning all of Snowy Morning Blues and am working on this one now. It is a bit more of a challenge for me but I am getting it. Of course I don't expect to play it as superbly as you do. How long do you practice daily?
Shit hot lid
!!!
@guitarpromoter I'd love to do a gig if you'd be into promoting it!!
have you checked out Fandalism on line? They would love to hear your music Richard.
I can get you some.Just be cool and dont tell anyone where you got it.
Buffy St. Marie does it little differently
ROFL, the ridculouss thing i would rather see u than tommy
You must have an extra thumb or something..
*points phone at guitar-SEEEE?That’s how YOU’RE supposed to sound*
at least his thumbs don't fight
you mean fill it with corm mash not cover it lol
Impressive playing, but way too fast. This is a great song but here it's just an excuse for him to show off his technique. Not putting him down, but it's not for me.
