good vid, also if you add a 10% ratio of lamp oil to the candle wax your burn time will shoot up to about 10 min.

I just made a batch. Best fire starters that I have played with! Broke one in half and the cotton fuzz lit the first try with a single spark. I save empty BIC lighters and remove unnecessary parts for emergency strikers.

Uh, dood, Vaseline soaked cotton balls never expire. I filled up a Skoal can with them thirty years ago and they still work fine. Just used a half of one vasaball last week. Sparked right up.

on addition to what u have shown here, if u sandwich them between heavy objects as they cool they come out nearly papper thin. i do this so i can fit three or four in my wallet. it doesnt affect the burn time at all and ive never had them melt or deform because of heat. just thought i would throw that out here. great video

My favorite fire starter by far now. Nice touch with the bright orange, though.
I also made some with cotton balls... cotton balls absorb so much wax, if you dip them completely, they end up hard as a rock and pretty much impossible to light with a ferro rod (I admit I use a lighter for those), but the FLAMES that come out of it.... MWAHAHAHA! For my new batch I just dipped the ends of the cotton balls, which sould make them usable with a ferro rod, but not 100% water proof. Will be testing later today.

I like to pre-melt candle wax in the microwave too. If you are careful and go slowly, you can liquefy the wax as well.
If you put them on strips of wax paper to cool, you can cut them apart & fold over. Wax paper burns too.

Love it! what a great Idea! Living in Florida I would probably have to separate them with wax paper so they don't melt together in the heat when carrying. Adds another option for fire. Surviving the hurricanes this summer has taught me that having our kits as user friendly and practical as possible for easy use is key and your ideas and videos have help do that. Keep up the great work Chris!!
