2:58 one of the strongest aphorisms in combat sports: “As you get tired, your bad habits become even more pronounced.”

Green gloves may have won a medal but Blue gloves knocked him down two times. I have more respect for Blue gloves.

Hey Jeri, you don't need to go all the way to New York to spar against Baji guys. There's a tournament (Golden Dragon) here in the San Gabriel area every year that has contact & point sparrings. And there are quite a few guys that participate have many years of Baji training. This tournament is usually held toward the end of the year, around November.

For the Tai Chi guy, if you want to go for arm/wrist stuff, what I usually do is shoot in with an almost tight guard bear hug and lead with my shoulder so I don’t get chin checked. Once I’ve closed the distance to clinch range and I’ve got the arms or shoulders, I just wrestle and index down to what I want, maybe that would work better for him that peppering shots to the face?

Kudos to the long haired dude for not being completely blind through his match, lol. I'll admit there's been a couple times I've had my arse handed to me cos it was windy and I didn't have a hair tie (at least that's what I told myself 😆)

I know how bad injuries are but consistency is the key. My mentality is if you get injured it better be because you were trying to do something productive not because you were doing something wreckless or dangerous for no good reason!

Interesting first clip….you noted clinching was involved. I’ve got a feeling even though it says promoted by Dale Apollo it may have been steamed via satellite from Thailand or somewhere in Asia? The ring is a Thai ring advertising Thai products and the Ref although not Thai is wearing a Thai Ref shirt. The white silk with Mita for a sponsor was the same as the MT shorts for a few of the first elite Thai teams that were put together to fight in Europe and America to show case MT. The video is blurred but slot of the folks ringside look Asian. Maybe I’m wrong and it’s in the states. Interesting clip I’d never seen before. 👍

It hurts my shins and toes to watch the first fight! In slow motion of second fight, these hits only work with a hard fist hitting a jaw with no mouth guard. Watch the slow motion and imagine them without a helmet and mouth guard holding the jaw joint together. Looks a lot like the WT basics, if he just moved forward a inch or two and punched a little lower to hit the tip of the chin. Kenpo doesn't feel them at all because gloves spread impact into headgear, but notice kenpo hits are mostly missing completely to the side. Third fight was AWESOME! Kung Fu Guy seemed to be doing double punches like a video game! Knocked boxer down twice, black eye! Both lost their gas,....too bad Kung Fu team tossed in the towel, he should have won. Fourth fight great to see clean CMA technique

I thought you would include Qi La La'鬥雞match, in which he beautifully 'one-two' knocked out his opponent.

I mean, he has hands, ofcourse there's boxing. Most fight systems has some form of boxing. why do you think the white guys even called it "Chinese boxing"?. But that said, if you even slowed down the footage, he's using his elbows and shoulders as guards or as a means to push, the movements really resemble what I've seen in some Kung fu forms.

Dude, I like your videos but too often I find myself trying to figure out who is who. Take 10 seconds to pause the video and say something like “the guy on this left is Joe, he’s using Kung fu. The guy on the right is Dave, he’s using MMA”

Green gloves boxing was waay too bouncy and springy, he tired himself out, probably the adrenaline getting to him, I found when I boxed and sparred regularly, you get used to the pressure of the situation and naturally start to calm down when fighting.
