Although there is another version on UA-cam, this contains more of the interview. I had to trim out the High Society segment due to copyright concerns.
Some Bing trivia: One of the unique things about his voice was his ability to sing a mordent -- that is two notes at the same time. He was also a founding investor in a little magnetic tape company called 'Memorex' -- Is it live, or is it Memorex? Bing's brother Bob was also a very successful big band leader in the swing era. For lovers of all things Bing, I recommend the book 'Pocket Full of Dreams, The Early Years' by Gary Giddens.
A program that's nearly 50 years old, as of this posting, and it's far more entertaining, attention holding, informative and just plain enjoyable than anything to be found on Graham Norton.
Bing just seemed like the old grandpa with many a stories to tell. It's honestly quite hard to believe that this same codger used to be the single most popular man in the entire world. Thanks as always, ModernBingFan.
Great interviewee - good storyteller and pipe smoker. As well as a terrific entertainer, his command of the English language is wonderful to listen to. Thank you for uploading, a pleasure to watch. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
From what he is speaking you can tell that there was a lot of stigma and discrimination if you looked a certain way. When he is explaining the ears that he could not get photograph and so on because of his ears sticking out; it tells you the pressure that men and women alike had to look good and to appeal to the public. This is something we still have today but things are changing for good.
How about you read about the sons so called book that he couldn't remember writing parts of WHY...oh because it was pieced together because he was drinking heavily throughout this period. What about the apology he gave the family afterwards...sad Bing's rep was tarnished for $$$

Perhaps the best interview I've seen Bing do. Thanks for posting it!
