Aaron (or maybe just me) needs a shirt that has all his quotes. "I'm not responsible" / "More green onions..." / "This will make you look good in front of your spouse" / "You know...you know..." / "I know what you have in your fridge" / "대박!!!!!" and "맛이겠다!" (because we need Claire in there). That last part rhymed lol
Aaron is an amazing cook, Claire is always so so cute and funny, but can we take a minute to also appreciate whoever does the editing for these videos? Because it's really really great.
thank you Aaron! I'm eating so much healthier because of you. I was depressed and ordering food a lot and your videos helped inspire me to cook for myself. youre the best!
This is why I love this channel. Making restaurant/authentic dishes at home with lots of alternatives for the home cook. That soft egg method is amazing. I love soft eggs!
If you’re on the fence about making this, you need to make this right now. Made this a few times for myself and family and it’s absolutely amazing, my only regret is not doing this sooner.
I used to eat Korean food here in Canada often, but it's been a few years since I've really enjoyed it. I like looking at your recipes and preparing dinner. It's very helpful and reminds me of old meals. Thanks.
Hi Aaron and Claire, thanks for the Gyudon recipe,, I ate this every day for 6 months when in S.E .Asia. 20 years ago .I have missed so much..............without a doubt, the best “fast food “, in the world.
With Food Price Inflation rising in the U.S. and the E.U. your cheap and tasty recipies are a just in time blessing for many of us. Thank you Aaron and Claire !
This recipe is a huge hit in our household. My wife always says "yes" whenever I ask if she wants gyudon. This was the first recipe of yours that I tried, and we have loved them since. Also love your cookbook! Great stuff!
I finally got around to fixing this. The flavor was spot on, just like I remembered except more flavourful. My wife, who generally doesn't like red meat or lots of onions loved it! Thanks so much. This is a winner.
Great video. I would recommend two things though: First, if you cannot find thin sliced beef at the supermarket in the United States, go to one with a butcher. Ask for Sukiyaki (すき焼き) beef or shabu shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ) beef, extra thin sliced. Bulgogi (불고기) beef found at Korean markets tend to be thicker and are usually of cheaper cuts or frozen imported Hanwoo (한우). Second, I would recommend that you use a sweet Japanese rice. Typically a sweeter Japanese rice works great for this dish. I would recommend Hitomebore (一目惚れ) rice or Koshihikari (越光) rice. Korean rice tends to be a bit fluffy for this dish. I love Korean rice for Kimchi fried rice (김지볶음밥), as it absorbs liquid well, but that isn't really what you want with Gyudon. Awesome vid!
Thank you for the excellent recipes Aaron and Claire. 🙂 If you achieve 1 million subscribers you should do a special video where Claire cooks and Aaron eats.
Claire has to try all kinds of things, but today I think she got something premium! All those ingredients are easily available in my small town, this looks surprisingly nice for simple home cooking. It looks like something anyone would like!
Man. Aaron and Claire, you got me again. Such a great combo of teacher and food critic. You know it has to be good when Claire keeps describing the taste and then how to improve it!
Very nice! I'll be following this recipe tomorrow night. I'm fortunate to have an Asian market nearby that sells hondashi and pickled ginger. Both can be found in resealable small jars as well.
Been trying to make gyudon for a while with store made sauces and it was never quite right. Made this tonight and my wife and I loved it, thanks Aaron!
I think both of you guys look Look good and I agree with Aaron about the shirt because I love your sayings I’m not responsible more green onions and I think that’s a good idea.
when i was an exchange student in taipei for a year i ate yoshinoya every single week and its definitely one of the things i miss the most!! thank you for this, im definitely gonna have to try making it myself
I can’t wait to try this recipe. I think the fish flakes will give it a well rounded umami flavor. I will have to find them at a Korean grocery. I like the techniques you share with every recipe. You can use them in other dishes. Thanks Aaron and Claire!
Hi Aaron and Claire! I just wanted to say I love your videos and appreciate you taking the time and effort to make these easy to follow and super informative! I’ve made several of your recipes over the last few weeks for my boyfriend and they’ve each been a huge hit. To be honest, I never really liked cooking before, but following your content has really changed that. It’s definitely turned into something I enjoy. Adding this one to my list immediately 😊 Thank you so much from Florida! 💝
Wow, that's awesome, Brittany! 😍I'm so glad we can be part of your change in a good way! Thank you for trying & enjoying our recipes and even sharing that with us! 🤗

I sometimes wonder what is Claire's workout routine, given how much food Aaron cooks for her to try.
Relationship goals 💖

We don't know where Claire IS when Aaron calls! Maybe she's outside and has to run up a bunch of stairs? i just thought of that.
You can tell as you rarely see her in these videos 😂

Not bad! I also add 1 tbsp of sake. At the end I sprinkle sansho (japanese pepper) on top. Gives a delicious smell and flavor.
Thank you both. best cooking show on UA-cam.
I was set on skipping the pickled ginger until I heard Claire's reaction... She convinced me! I need to practice for my future wife!
