- Welcome to XP Pen Deco 01 V2 Honest Review! Is this the best beginner drawing tablet on a budget? Well in this video, I discuss whether or not it's worth investing in!
I was looking for a drawing tablet to use for my design work and while researching, I came across the XP Pen Deco 01 V2. Compared to Wacom tablets, this brand is significantly cheaper (especially if you're on a tight budget) and so I thought, why not check it out? I'm used to drawing on paper, but obviously, that's a whole different experience compared to drawing on a tablet!
In this video, I'll give you an honest review and show you examples of how the XP Pen Deco 01 V2 works and share with you my initial thoughts regarding the drawing tablet in terms of first impressions, affordability, dimensions, and overall functionality!

Oh yea btw , the tablet dimension 13.82 x 8.54 inch , the one you mention was the active area for the stylus anyways , good review
Btw the buttons on the stylus are customizable, and it really useful for expert professional artists, and some even wish there should be more buttons on the stylus. Because you are not an artist, u wont really need them, and they are mainly used for undo or/and erase. :]
The buttons on the side of the Pen are programmable hot keys to promote efficiency. You can assign it to “eraser” or “Undo” mode. If you don’t want it programmed, you go to the tablet settings & make sure it’s not assigned to anything. I’m sure the tablet has a menu for the settings/properties.

Awesome review! Just one thing I noticed at 2:05 that the dimensions are actually 13.82" x 8.54" (351mm x 217mm), not 10" x 6.25". It's the working area that is 10" x 6.25" (254mm x 159mm). So the dimension lines are off a little in the video. The thickness is correct at 8mm (0.31"). I got this information from the Amazon listing, I couldn't find the actual tablet size in the XP Pen website for some odd reason (maybe I didn't look hard enough)... But apart from that, I enjoyed watching. Thanks for the effort you put into your review.

The glove is so that when you draw your hand does not get stuck and you can make more fluid strokes
Thank you so much for this! I have been searching for drawing tablets for like 2 hours now. I've considered buying a Wacom but it was indeed too expensive as a first so this was really helpful. It's also good to hear from a beginner's point of view.

You can get pressure on photoshop too, just need to turn Windows ink on or off, and see which one works for you :) Also you can remove the actions for the buttons in the settings.
can you make express keys to be on right side? cuz im left handed
@@lukamilosevic8096 The tablet is simetrical, so if you flip it for left handed use, you get the same 4 keys in the exact same spot as right handed people. No worries.
If the windows ink trick does not work for you, make sure to turn on pressure sensitivity next to the opacity menu.

Its better for the pen to be thicker, its worse for the hand to hold on smaller things. The issue is how hard you are squeezing it but thats not the pen's fault.

The biggest question here is, does it have that floating pointer without touching the pad? Because some says it does, some says it doesn’t.
I'm using the tablet right now and it does have floating pointer (I'm using it with a Windows machine).

i like it all, my only concern is the thickness of the pen. It seemes very big and I have small hands so it might be uncomfortable to hold...
You are hilarious!!! Can you do some graphics for us!?!?! We really need to be better about it to make our content better!!! That Tablet is huge I think Almost feels like just the screen part of a laptop. Wow, you're so talented, I didn't know this was your process for your thumbnail. HAHA BUTTONS are always the hardest. The pen doesn't looked so refined. SO HUGE, it should be size of pencil or pens, so big! Loved your rec!

Naisuuu! I think one way you can use those pen buttons is in the settings, you can add the shortcut key function for those. For me with photoshop, I set them as ‘i’ and ‘b ‘. ‘i’ is color picker and ‘b’ is brush tool so it easy to go back and forth picking colors on the canvas and then returning to brush tool when I paint. That’s for photoshop but for other programs probably you will have to see what tools you use often and add those shortcut key functions instead. :D

I had read that many people face sensitivity issues on upper half of the tablet where it moves in increments of 2 or 4 pixels with smallest movements but is fine when working on lower half. Have you noticed such issues ?
Also, is shoelace effect problematic on this tablet?
Shoelacing means that line suddenly becomes thick while it should be linear increase.
As I am thinking to be involved in 3D modelling, it matters a lot to me so please find some time to reply.
Also, why not make a long term review of the tablet

@@chiragkhandelwal4130 Hi mind sharing where did you find user complaining about those problem? since I've got the same problem. Tested it on multiple pc the problem still persist and even I got the new replacement a day ago and you know what? The new tablet got the same issues too T_T.

I personally use OBS to record, and then you have to edit it in any video editing app and increase the video speed. I've done it with the default Windows Video Editor app.
I got a new one a couple of weeks ago. I can use it as a mouse and no problem, but when I use it with brushes, it makes Photoshop and Illustrator crash after 30 minutes or so. I use it with Windows 10 and Adobe 2019...any ideas why is that happening and how to solve it?
How big is your graphic card? Maybe there's not enough memory for your laptop to run everything? Don't think the tablet would cause any issues as it's just an external tool 🙂

I've never tried the Huion but I can vouch for the XP Pen for a beginner. It's really a good tablet! I think you can't go wrong between the two as they're both affordable and probably decent for anyone who's trying to pick up digital illustration! Lemme know what you decide to get 🙂

This might be a stupid question, but like how do y'all see your drawings? How do you guys know where to brush or what? I'm curious :< like HOW?!
You see your cursor on the screen as you hover over the surface of the tablet. To draw, you lower the pen so the tip touches the surface. After a while you get a feel for how much you should move your hand/arm around to get to a certain part of the screen. It's called hand-eye coordination.

Pretty sure you can turn off the buttons on the pen if you don't like 'em : )

@@foodngems in other tablets you can change them in the settings of the tablet (the thing you install from their website).
If you can't turn them off in xp pen, you can just set them to keyboard shortcuts that do nothing.
