What a fantastic performance by the embryonic Alan Rudkin, superb switching from head to body with power and accuracy. Game performance from the American too, never off his feet.
Rudkin was one of the best around for a long time in a division full if talent. Great career
What a beautiful boxer. Followed his career. A good one .
Dynamic, explosive accuracy from Rudkin.
Credit to Washington for not folding under that barrage.
I remember the night well. Yes BILLY WALKER was amazing. I was only 15 years old. Would love to see more footage.

I remember watching all ten contests on BBC back in the day, billy Walker knocked out Perry in the last fight as heavyweights ?

I met Alan Ruskin when I visited his pub in Liverpool when I was watching my team spurs play Liverpool. A really nice bloke. RIP

Billy was my first boxing hero. He once filled up my dad's petrol tank at the local garage he ran with his brother, just down the road was a sweet shop ran by Terry Spinks family .
Hard to believe it was 55 years ago he fought Lionel Rose.
See how polite things were back then? Everyone shaking hands and congratulations given, no shouting, aggressive stances….life has become so ugly these days, more so in the fight game which in turn spills over into “real life”….a shame. Good bout by Rudkin though.
Gotta thank Ali for bringing the trash talking to boxing. Tyson made it even worse. It was supposed to be a gentleman's sport. Those days are long gone.

Yup.
The days of respect among fellow boxers has mostly passed on since those good 'ol days of the Great Joe Louis and such.
Shouting, yelling, threatening, trash talking...is the norm for today vs just straight honorable combat when the bell rings and then back to being friends after the match.
Now, they say it's to help promote & sell the fight so they can make more $$$...but there's the rub of it...$$$ is the goal vs the simple act of boxing.
Much has been lost as we gain more & more tech in our lives...
