- This weeks eggs ended up being quite a lot of eggs, I really need to figure out what I am going to do with all this protein. I have the geese sitting on eggs now and washing the ones I did took over an hour.
Feed oyster shels to your birds to prevent soft shelled eggs.
Those quail eggs r so cute!👍🏼🌻
Put up a sign to sell them when you have a huge amount.....take the sign down when you don't. I'm sure your neighbors would enjoy them as well.....just don't waste what the good Lord has provided. Love your channel Joe.
That's quite the collection of eggs. I agree, that's the worst job of it all having to clean them. Lots of quiche and custard to use up some of the surplus. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Joe, that is a lot of eggs! You can always supplement your feed bill and feed the eggs back to them for a while if you can't get rid of them fast enough.
Great video, and i hope you have a great year on the hobby farm and the garden.
What beautiful eggs. Saw a youtube video on preserving eggs, look it up, it's old school.
Joe could you donate the eggs to a local food Pantry or soup Kitchen? You may also want to check different homesteading forums or even craigslist. You will find people looking to barter for fertilized eggs.
1975Jdonov you can barter for tons and tons of stuff, I did big rug parts, car parts and home furniture
I have the same model washer n dryer as yours....been good ones for over 11 years now.
We feed our "over-run" eggs to our pigs. They love them plus they supplement the pigs diet with quality protein! :-)
Great video. Soaking those eggs in salt water 4 abt half an hour shud make the dirt come right off @ least most of it..
amazing coops and birds
I finally found your other channel! Lol. So what is the best egg layers outta everything? And do goose or turkey eggs taste different than chicken eggs? What is your favorite
hello im new from the channel and I like your birds they have some babys to!
It's spring. They are all doing what they do in spring. LAY LOTS OF EGGS.
you should set up a stand and sell some of them and get some money back that you put out for feed for them.
Need to invest in a dozen more incubators. lol That is a lot of eggs. Stupid question for ya Joe. When picking the eggs, why don't you keep them separate from the start unlike mixing them all together in one bucket? Great video by the way.
why the small sized quail eggs? You'd have to eat a dozen to equal 3-4 chicken eggs, i just cant see this as making sense.
You raise the quail to eat them but when they lay the eggs a person may as well eat them. You can also pickle them and they are the perfect size.
How many eggs did you manage to get in the incubator and are any ducks hatching? When are you getting rid of the old rooster?
Any fertile eggs in that batch? Nice assortment. Thanks for the information.
I was wondering what you were going to do with all those eggs. I guess you're wondering too! LOL
Joe, did you know that Asian markets will buy duck, goose and turkey eggs? I guess it's an ethnic thing. The one near us will take whatever we have, even if not a full dozen.
Yeah, I'm not going to be able to eat that many eggs, lol. I think you should stop by where the girls work Natural Valley Foods in Burnsville and see if they are interested in buying them from you. They make a pretty penny on quail, duck and chicken eggs.
Could you donate them to food shelfs or is that illegal ?
I think if I were you I would invest in an egg washer! That is a lot of work to do by hand!!!
+Liz Spencer I do miss when all 3 of my beautiful children lived at home. LOL. Thanks Liz. Joe.
+NorthernSeclusion what do you feed your chickens so they lay lots of eggs
Nabil Diab give they your leftovers I get eggs everyday and feed them nonstop spoil them too
heck if you were by me i'd take about 10 doz. a week I love my eggs :)
A few things I can't get clear answers on... Can/should you wash eggs, for incubation or eating? And, how do you store eggs to be incubated? I was told that refrigerators are too cold, just find a cool spot and incubate by day 12, although they start to loose viability after 5 days. Is that all true? On a side note, I have a light Sussex (may be Columbian something) that lays brown freckled eggs, and I noticed I can wash the freckles off, and even some of the brown... Weird, eh? Also, love that bridge. Your whole place seems quite beautiful. Good Luck, +Blessings
+liboriopsych Ok, where to start Lol. Do not wash your eggs if you are going to incubate them. You can scrape off any big poop chunks if they have any (I just leave them on and into the incubator they go) Only wash your eggs if you plan on eating them and putting them in the fridge. I wash mine once a week and they sit on the counter unwashed until that time. They have a protective coating on them and are fine outside of the fridge for longer than you would think when unwashed. Store them in a cool but not cold place prior to incubating. Mine just sit on a table downstairs and its about 65 degrees in there, thats not real cool but it works for me. Put the eggs you are storing for incubation in an egg carton with the pointy side of the egg down, close the top of the egg carton. Store the egg carton with the eggs in it right side up (the carton) for 24 hours and then flip the egg carton upside down for the next 24 hours. If you are doing this with small eggs that will flop around in the carton you will want to have newspaper or something that will fill that void when flipping so they dont break. Do that every day until you have enough eggs collected to go in the incubator. 14 days is the max you should store them. 5 is really good and after day 10 they will start to drop down quickly in the hatch rate. Thank you for the nice comment, perhaps I will do a video on this subject. Joe
+NorthernSeclusion ...Thanks for the response. Don't know why it took 6 days for YT to notify me, but... oh well. You have inspired me to hatch out some eggs. A friend/farmer gave me an incubator, minus the turner motor, but that's still a great improvement over my ice cooler with a light bulb, wet sponges and a mini-fan. I started with 18, 4 were not fertile and I removed 4 more that had a blood ring and/or not fill the egg by day 18. One more just doesn't seem right, but I left it in. They were locked down last night and due on Wednesday... Fingers crossed... This is fun, and I just might make a side business of it. Thanks for the inspiration...Good Luck,+BlessingsP.S... Looking forward to that video tour.
How long can you keep those eggs???? That is a lot of eating there!! Juddie - J&J TOA
Hi...do you sell your Turkey and Quail eggs? Fertile eggs to hatch?
Joe, how many chickens , turkeys, etc, etc... do you have?

You can feed spare eggs to the pigs if you can't do anything thing else
Try dehydrating them. put em in a Mason jar and leave them at the tent.
+Texas Conundrum I actually have a video on doing that on Joe and Zach Survival. I did that a couple years ago. It worked quite well. Thank you. Joe
I’ll take some😀
What channel does he say to explain the eggs he got when he got the pigs? Im interested to know
+Tasmiyah Sikdar The other channel is Joe and Zach Survival. this is the video I was referring to. Thank you. Joe. ua-cam.com/video/YkdsgW-eHNo/v-deo.html

What do feed your chicken
Make thousand year old egg... Lol.
to those that made negatve conments: if you eat eggs and poultry meat from the store, those animals do not get the best treament in the world.
Wow
Craigslist and sell them
Suggestion make some extra $$ sell the eggs cheaper than the grocery store. Or barter with another homesteading farm that does have eggs.
if i were to get quail how long from the time they hatch to eating size? im sure you have said it in a past video lol i just dont remember!
Quail start laying at 7 weeks so I would guess that is close to full grown. We eat our quail at about 10 to 12 weeks.
If I were you I would give the eggs to the food bank? I don't know how you call that in English, I am Dutch.
You could also try selling them.
Guess you will be making pickled eggs
