- GOOD TO BE BACK WITH more ED CHERRY!
Stay Tuned for NEW videos from a PHENOMENAL GUITARIST I just interviewed - he is one of the Greatest Living Guitarists!
Ed Cherry Trio performs "All Blues" LIVE at Mezzrow NYC@mezzrowjazzclub8350 on Monday August 12, 2024.
"All Blues" was composed by Miles Davis and first appeared on the highly influential 1959 album "Kind of Blue". It's a basic twelve-bar blues made up entirely of seventh chords. What sets it apart is it is in 6/8, and the difference is a ♭VI is used in the turnaround instead of just the usual V chord.
This time Ed had his amazing Trio of Mike Boone on Electric Bass, and Anwar Marshall on drums.
Ed Cherry is a legendary jazz guitarist known for his work with Dizzy Gillespie from 1978 to 1992, and for his own recordings and projects as a band leader since that time. He is widely known as for his melodicism, exuding a deep expressiveness on the guitar attributed to great singers such as Al Green, Marvin Gaye, and Frank Sinatra.
Great performance the entire night with fantastic musicianship from all and a great vibe!
This is the 103rd installment of my "Great Performances" series, where I upload my own personal LIVE footage from past concerts of great musical artists I've covered either through written articles and/or direct interviews.
The Ed Cherry Trio is:
Ed Cherry - Guitar
Mike Boone - Electric Bass
Anwar Marshall - Drums
