Congrats to everyone who raced this weekend and especially to those who ran a PR! I have never run in Asics but your continued positive reviews are making me want to give them a go! 👊🏼
QD: Completed my first ever race, which was a Half Marathon in 1:53:31 running 6 miles of it against 40mph winds with 50mph gusts! Super happy with that as a start - now going to move onto some shorter races over summer!
I’m very intrigued by the EvoRide but I can’t decide if I want to pull the trigger and snag a pair or wait until the NovaBlast is out next month. Good problem to have, I reckon.
QD: Great Run. Wasn’t really a long run, however it was beautiful. Got to see the sun set over the mountains in a great spot. Lovely run. Thanks for the video.
Great first impression review Seth. They look pretty awesome. Ridiculous colour though!! 😮 QOD: middle trail distance run this weekend in Storm Dennis. Circa 10 miles, circa 1,500ft elevation gain and wild wind & rain. 🏴
This weekend, ankle was feeling ok. so ran a local dirt/gravel road 2miles up the back with around 600 ft gain repeats. All felt good till I stopped, I feel Im back a week or 2 in recovery. Back to the bike today. Hope everyone had a better weekend.
did just shy of 15k on the trails on sunday. was as hot as hell, muggy and i mean real muggy. like 95% humid. And the mozies were unbelievable. It was like a bush sauna out there.
I totally get what you mean about the toe space in the front and it was a little disconcerting at first to the point where I thought I bought a size too big but the rest of my foot is so secure in there it gave me a tiny toe-spread freedom on my landing kinda of like when I run barefoot on beach sand - as close to barefoot on platforms as I've been and I love them :)
QD: Ran my first 50k. And a marathon pr on the way. Tons of doubts and anxiety leading up to it, but with a wife that thinks I can do anything I put my mind to I got it done.
This weekend I ran 18 miles on the trails. Next weekend I will be racing my 4th half marathon in Split, Croatia. I believe that the event will be amazing because over 4000 runners are coming from 27 different countries!!! The race will include marathon, half marathon, marathon relays, 5k race and kids' 1 mile race.
QOD: Did a 20 mile long run and I feel great. It was near perfect running weather, and it went off without a hitch. I do realize that trying to maintain any consistent pace while listening to a podcast is nearly impossible for me. I was listening to a podcast for the first 5 miles and the timing was all over the place!
content on how you train and things you do with injury prevention helped me PR at every indoor track race from 5k, 2 mile, mile, and 800. And enabled me to qualify for nationals in the mile.
QD: Not today or this weekend but ran a new marathon PR last Sunday Feb 9 3:06:30. Missed BQ by 1:30. Brief reset and focusing on Cleveland Marathon May 17.
@@ErnieOne Depends on how fast your tempo days are. I used the GlideRide for close to 100k before I retired them due to being too narrow, and put them through all kinds of paces. I'd put them in the range of 4:00 - 5:30min/k, with about 4:30-5:00min/k being their sweet spot. Any faster and their weight will get in the way, it is quite a lot of shoe going on there. Any slower and you won't benefit as much from its geometry. So, if your tempo runs are slower than 4:00min/k your fine.
QD: Pull back week for me. 15 miles on the long run - beautiful weather, decent pace despite low heart rate throughout, about all I could ask for. Ready for my first peak mileage week (70 miles) this week.
QOD: Long run was good. I was dealing with an injury on my foot because of tight calves. Have it all stretched out now. Maintenance! Have a good one Seth!
My race was a charity run hope 4 life and i used is as my longrun of 15km but we had a storm with very strong wind but i did pretty wel timewise(had to run back twise first for my hat and second time for my buff). And al the runners together raised over 10.000 euro's for researche in cancer. So prowd to be a part off that!
QD: I didn't race, although I did my first 12k "long run" after about a 6 week injury, however, my son broke his pb and won our local Parkrun, his first. He ran 18:07, which is not that fast, but equally it's not a fast course, being mostly on gravel paths, with 2 very tight u-turns or, as they call them in cycling "hotdog turns". I'm pretty proud of him, as he ran the whole race by himself out front and only pushed over the last km or so, particularly as he passed me with 500m to go. 😊
Love your stuff seth! Wish you were doing more trail/ultra stuff these days though! On that note, does anyone know of a youtuber with a similar vlog style but for trail running/ultras?
Hey Seth, I purchased these runners and I love them for speedwork. I'm doing a 10 mile long run every week and my feet are always a bit sore and I wanted to get your opinion on the best asics long run shoe?
Not a Nike person per se but most of my shoes are Nike. The EvoRide is like the Peg36 but bouncier and with much better toe-off since the Pegs aren't rockered at all. While the Peg36 feel cushioned when walking around, they firm up with pace, but that's exactly what Peg devotees seek. The EvoRide is the opposite, firm while standing, and bouncy at pace. They are quite similar in stack height and level of cushioning but the EvoRide is definitely the more "modern" ride, with the Pegs being an oldschool neutral daily trainer. With the radical change in ride quality the Vomero 14 went through, here's no comparison in Nike's lineup for the Nimbus Lite, which feels a bit like older Vomeros, when it still was the laid-back, comfy ride for miles, and miles. I'd compare the Lite with the Brooks Glycerin but a tad more plush.
QD: A nice 11.5mi/18.5km trail run in speedgoat mid WP. Nice protection from the mud, but traction wise sorta wish I tried my sense 7 SG for the first time! Going to try same with sense next week, before a 5.5mi race in the sense 7s in two weeks.
QD: 18 mile long run..... pretty brutal, running a marathon on March 6th. Not sure if I’m just running I’m tired legs but has me kinda worried going into this marathon
PR-Ed my 10miler race at 7:22/mile 1:13:48, but kinda annoyed with myself because I did not get DOMS... must have held back too much. Doubled edged sword since my marathon is in four weeks and I’m trying to learn patience to have gas at the end... a PR is a PR though
Seth, I've noticed alot of the shoe brands are doing new shoe releases in May/june 2020. Why do you think that is? Summer feels like middle of the running season. Wouldn't it make more sense to release shoes at the beginning of the running season? Thanks man
Maybe you’ve already done a vlog on this, but you mentioned socks a few times. What are some of your favorites? Different temps and seasons? Different types of runs and races?
I'm really interested in how the EvoRide compares to the Asics Dynaflyte which is what I've been running in for everything - easy, tempo, speed, marathon. The Dynaflyte is built on Flyte foam and weighs about the same, but costs about $40 less! Is the curved forefoot worth it?
I'm running a marathon on March 29th and I hope to break 3 hours by a min. or 2. I have a tune up half marathon that is very hilly on March 7th. What kind of goal pace should I have for the Half Marathon? Is there a rule of thumb for tune up races 3 to 4 weeks before a peak race?
QD: Tried to do a long run in my new Vomero 14, but it turned out terrible, my feet kinda cramped up and had to walk till the end after about 8 km. I'll try to adjust to the new shoes, but maybe they just aren't compatible.
Sorry to hear that, give them a couple more chances and I think they should open up for you. They are definitely a shoe without a lot of material in that midsole.
I'm really siked to try this shoe. I run in the GT-2000 and I'm going to get this one for tempo days. I'm not sure about the white color. I have the new GT-2000 and I love it.
You have to look at the raw length of their lasts with ASICS, because they have 3 weird incremental changes in their sizes, namely at US7, US10.5, and US13.5. Should your feet fall around those sizes, it might be better to size up. That said, I usually go +1.5cm (and +2cm with Nike), having both the Glide, and Evo I went +1.25cm with the Evo (US10.5), and +1.5cm (US11) with the GlideRide. GlideRides fit a tad snugger because the midsole walls are pulled in.
What's the difference between long run and easy day shoes? Isn't a long run at an easy pace? wouldn't that make the easy runs and long runs the same except the distance? meaning a good cushioned shoe for a long run would be the same shoe used for easy days right? Thus having an easy day and long run day shoe seems redundant.
QD: 20 miles at 7.50/mi dodging storm Dennis. QD from last year when I said I would be sponsored by asics if I had to choose a brand, now theyre hitting it big in 2020 👍

Depends on how heavy you are. The Nimbus Lite are so plush that they might bottom out over longer distances or downhill. Heavy runners benefit from medium-cushioned shoes, i.e. deep cushion but not overly soft. Think Brooks Glycerin 16/17.
The only thing I don't like about this shoe is the colorway…I really don't like white running shoes…if they don't turn brown from mud, they go grey from dust and weathering…info about the decent size toe box is great for people like me with a slightly wider foot!
QD: set a new PR in the 10 mile! 57:39.
Good run. I remember the excitement of getting personal best times and 10m was my favourite distance.
Congratulations
Prospect park run?
Gary M it was the Charlotte 10 miler.
Congrats, Anthony!
Glad to see ASICS starting to get back to it with the glideride and now the evoride... long may it continue! Might go back to them some day!

Nice review looking forward to your 50 mile review, very interested in this shoe as I agree with you about the glide ride, really great shoe

Hello Seth. Is the glide ride true to size or you also felt that half number below is better ?
You have to look at the raw length of their lasts with ASICS, because they have 3 weird incremental changes in their sizes, namely at US7, US10.5, and US13.5. Should your feet fall around those sizes, it might be better to size up. That said, I usually go +1.5cm (and +2cm with Nike), having both the Glide, and Evo I went +1.25cm with the Evo (US10.5), and +1.5cm (US11) with the GlideRide. i have a wide fit and wears a stability shoe, any shoe to recommend me, i only have one daily trainer now
is this as stable as the glide ride
What's the difference between long run and easy day shoes? EvoRide or Nimbus Lite for heavier and slower runner?
