- Introduction: You Are Worth It
"...On a more personal level, you are worth whatever you want to invest in yourself. You are worth pushing through whatever is holding you back, whatever challenges you are facing, whatever seemingly insurmountable odds are staring back at you. You are worth pursuing the happiness you search for when you look in the mirror.
I am worth it, too, and that is why I fought to rebuild my life into something even greater than it was before a grenade changed everything for me.
It might seem natural to divide my life into two parts, before the explosion and after, but that would give the bad guy who wanted to kill me too much power over my story. I am about so much more than that one moment. The explosion is simply one event in a lifetime of events, all of which have shaped me, changed me, made me grow, and made me who I am. And the life I am living now -- even as I am continuing to build it -- is one I love.
I am worth it, And so are you."

I read your book, and enjoyed it.
I left it in the backseat of my car when I finished it.
I have an 8 y/o little girl who loves to read. One day she picked up your book and started to read it.
I am not sure how much of it she really understood. We talked alot about you, your actions, your injuries and how your life has changed.
Thank you for writing this book, and putting into writing things I never could.
Keep doing what you are doing, thank you for being a positive role model.
As I lay in a VA hospital bed on Christmas eve 2004. 31 years since I was medically retired from the USAF; a young girl gave me a bag containing a pink care bear and a Christmas card. "Thank you for making is so I do not have to hide in a ditch." That was the first time anyone had thanked me for my service. Still have the bear and the card.

This book brings a proud tear to my eye every time I open it. We are blessed to have our veterans.
Love the book. It helped me get through the dark times not through wounds of War. But through my drug rehab. This book is not just for veterans it's for everybody and that's what I find amazing about it. Thank you for sharing your story.

Hi Kyle How are you doing? I have watched all of your videos from being in the hospital and in Afghanistan. I hope your men are doing good down there. I purchased your book you are worth it and very interesting. I watched your fellow Marine Jared Lilly and he talked about your injuries. When I saw your injuries I was devastated and immediately thought about your brothers, your mom & dad. I kept all of ya’ll in my thoughts and prayers. I am relieved that you beat your injuries in Walter Reed and I cannot thank Walter Reed Military Hospital for bringing you back to life when you were not. You have been inspiring me to do pull ups at my gym that I have never ever done. I started doing them because of you. Thank you for being the best role model that I can have and look up to as mentor for overcoming obstacles
I thank God every day this country still produces men and women like you. That proves we still have hope.
I have read and recommend your book to many peple. I loved the audio version. I recently had a strokein Dec 2021. I am having to learning to walk again. My experience is not near as bad as yours, but when I dont feel like I want to keep trying. I hear your voice in my head...( cliche) stay motivated. It helps me to press through.
